The guy is exercising his beliefs but he's doing it wrongly – wrong place, wrong time too. It's commendable to see someone this dedicated to the Bitcoin community but doing so while a [...riot, protest) is on?  Definitely not the best time it doesn't relate with the reason why people are currently protesting. At the end of the day, Its always better to be safe than sorry.

It's not really the best time to put forth our thoughts on bitcoin and where it stands in the global economy, especially in places where protests/riots are happening currently. Meme-ing is good fun, no doubt about it, but it certainly isn't always applicable every time. With the amount of physicality and brutalities happening almost everyday in the US, I can't seem to process why this guy wanted to hold a sign like that in the midst of chaos. As if bitcoin would save us from the dreaded sin of racism and police brutality? Anyway, the message is good, but literally waaaaay out of context and severely inappropriate given the circumstances.

The Bitcoin Sign Guy holding a "Buy Bitcoin" sign behind Fed Chairperson Janet Yellen, live on C-SPAN was a good memefiable moment.

Being "Bitcoin Jesus" in the thick of a societal collapse is NOT. Bitcoin CANNOT save us from stupidity!

it looks like bitcoin is a religion of fanatics, I know we have to like bitcoin and spread bitcoin so that more people can enter this market, but I think things like these:

 Grin

it is at a completely unacceptable level, I even wonder if this is not a photoshop effect, I prefer to think that it is a photoshop effect because it is hard to believe that there are people capable of committing such crazy things

free advertisement for us.

with these actions he’s just ridiculing the whole cryptocurrency community

The picture is taken from J.Huseman from ProPublica in Austin. The person is just a random rioter trying to create the buzz. And since sometimes you can see such a person in every protestation worldwide.
Like during the yellow vest movements , the covid19 lockdown or behind Janet Yellen as you mention.

I've seen plenty of them and honestly nothing special. Yes it's free advertisement for the community but the persons try to hit the medias the same ways the Merits Prostitutes here suck for peanuts

I'm not sure who that guy is, it only says antiFiat protesters, but most likely it is part of the protest that's gripping US now because of the George Floyd case. Person just another one of those who wanted to give the message out there about BTC, free advertisement for us.

Is he some sort of Bitcoin preacher? Imagine him preaching about BTC in the middle of the protest. I would like to know if it's a recent photo as well. Let's praise this guy haha.
Hahaha. I also don't think if this was taken during the recent protest in United States of America. For me, the phrase he is holding is like nothing to do in what protesters' fighting for, well, maybe he got some reason why?
I'm just laughing at the phrase he wrote, it's like he is into a cult or something, it's just funny. I hope this picture is taken long time ago.
Somebody did mention the yellow jackets with the "buy bitcoin" written on their backs from the protests in Paris a few years ago and how that went viral.
These riots in the states have anarchy written all over them so those who are looking to overthrow the justice system are seeing this as an opportunity to take the liberty to take advantage of the media coverage.
Just look at how out of control it has become there in the past 3 days.

It is stupid if you ask me and it just goes to show you how stupid society truly has become. Worsened by all the unemployed looking to vent their frustration with being locked inside by the government for the last 2.5 months just added more ammo to the powder keg of what we are seeing right now.
Citizens destroying their city over something that happens so often in the states yet it is not captured on camera from an observer. Most of the time the onbody cameras the police have on are turned off for some reason or another and usually when they are doing stuff like this.
Some business owners have armed themselves to try and defuse those who have seen this as a way to beginning loot which is just disgusting.

Just utter chaos! Angry

Lol! This fellow is indeed a bitcoin preacher! Is it a recent photo or an old one gaining momentum recently? I mean I am just trying to think through this picture amidst the ongoing protest that is ongoing is US. Obviously there's no context match, but certainly worth a special mention. I hope it makes up to the mainstream media as it may make some people intrigued about bitcoin.

On a serious note, bitcoin can't really save us from racism! Humanity can! The ongoing protest makes sense when it's peaceful but people robbing Apple stores and super markets is a big no-no!
There are difference between the rioters and between the protesters, those rioters are the ones responsible why they are looting that is happening all over the states but there are also protesters who are doing crime and immoral activities.
The picture above is just a person who wants attention from the public. What the way he thinks reminds me my old friend, he saw a opportunity to promote and give awareness the public about bitcoin. But bitcoin has nothing to do with racism and what it is not connected on what is currently happening in the United States.

There is already a cult, and it's pretty active here, people with zero understanding of the economy claiming that a total collapse of the world economy is good for bitcoin and bitcoin will save us from everything. There are a lot who think that in a post-apocalyptic scenario bitcoin will survive and it will be the seen from which a new better and healthier society will sprout. But it's not about just about bitcoin, everything that threatens the current system is worshipped by those that don't agree with it, it happens like this numerous times in history, some people that were fed up with the current way of life saw in any opportunity a chance of turning the world in the place they like and get rid of the things they don't.

But this...I think it was pretty much staged, you can see that he is almost posing to a camera guy on the left, he is there cleary for attention.
Well, on the bright side it's better he is carrying a sign rather that a torch.

Are you sure its not you Wind_FURY?  Grin

I always wanted to do that. I just can't go out to where there is a protest. Just for fun though, you can call it stupidity but its just for fun nothing is being wasted there. I would probably add my QRcode when doing that. I bet I could get a lot of LIKES in my facebook photo.

LOL.. if he will not put the source of that picture, then it's safe to assume that it was him in the picture. Grin

I don't know how would I feel about that picture, I like to know about your opinion, would that help in crypto adoption or people will just hate bitcoin because of that? As for me, I have done my little thing which is telling first my friends and relatives about crypto, but most of them are not really that open to learn about crypto.

Ah. The 2020 version of the Bitcoin sign guy. Next thing you know fake bitcoin address QR codes will be roaming around the web claiming to be this guy.

Since not everyone (including me) aware of world news and events, can you mention the event/context? Is it part of peaceful protest or something else?
It's most likely from the Minneapolis protests(..or riots). Not sure if I would call the event "peaceful", sadly.

It could be from the recent protests. There's a crisis going on there and one would think that Bitcoin would be a safer asset to hold right now instead of US dollars.
