Just sell it for half a million.

How can he sell it for a half a million when he can't get even 15K? Maybe it is possible in 50 years time, if there is no other bill same as this one.

So a friend of mine have this $5000 bill which I believe is from 1928. It has some signs of aging and abit scratch. Does anyone know the value of this bill? Here's a copy of the bill. I'd appreciate any help. Thank you!

Do you know any place that can evalutate if its real or fake?

Contact my personal friend Fred Bart, http://www.executivecurrency.com/owners/, he is one of the country's top paper currency experts.  Tell him "Mike" sent you, but be sure to let him know that I don't know you in person, just that I saw this on a forum.

He could assist with the sale as well, should it turn out to be legitimate.

Try to sell it on an auction on ebay, or some site similar to ebay. You can find some who is interest in it and is willing to pay at least 15k for it. 3k is a rip off, it is too little even to consider selling it. I wouldn't do that. If that was the only offer i receive i would keep it, for a few years maybe it would worth even more, maybe it would reach 100k.

Guess I'll have it auctioned on ebay then. I saw some bloggers that are with interest of old bills but no response from them til now.

Just an update: She came by at my house today after she went to the local bank. And the manager said that the bill is genuine and we've got an offer of 3k USD. Should we take it or have it for auction?

EDIT: Wrong digit.

Shouldn't it be worth at least $5k for a bank just because it's its face value without any barging? or is it considered expired somehow and now it just has collectible value?
I mean shouldn't he be able to change that bill for 50 x $100 bills the same way you change a $100 bill for 10 x $10 bills?

It's probably an offer as a collectible. I've been calling several people that would be interested on this bill. Still no luck.

Don't listen to bankers always take you for a ride. Glad to hear its genuine  Smiley

3K when it worth 10 times? seriously?
I would ask 15k

That's what I thought too. I told her to wait for a decent offer. Anyone can suggest me a good site to auction this one aside from ebay?

This looks like a forgery the paper is all wrong and it looks like it recently got put in the washing machine and stained with coffee. What printer you used to print it ?

Why would you put a 5000 dollar bill next to a cup of coffee? And no it didn't get soaked. According to the owner, an old soldier gave it to her as a token of friendship. The man died 2 years ago so we can't ask him about it. I don't think it's fake though. I'm still waiting for her to come over my house today from the local appraiser/bank.

$2. I bid $4! Double. send it over.  Cool

It comes to around $30,000 to $100,000 I think, mostly depending on how rare it is. I am not an expert, but if you find the right buyer you can get more than that.

We hope so.
