This app used to like to backup the keys to a file called bitcoin-wallet-keys-xxx-xx-xx (xxx being the date)

The thing is I cannot locate this backup, but I do have the phone, does anyone here know of any good software to scan the phone with, the phone was wiped at some point so needs to be pretty low level kinda stuff... Huh

If I were in your shoes, I would probably take the phone to an expert on data recovery. I am sure there is still a way to get the data back. But you should make sure that they cannot just take your money because you have sensitive data on there. Take somebody with you as a witness and tell the expert all about it. Let him acknowledge that info and accept your request.

Are you high? Why would I make it up about a dead wallet from 13 years ago? It was 100% my wallet, you were clearly not about in those days. The Android app was less than secure, there was no lock on the app, so someone with your phone could just send your BTC to anyone they wanted and the backup was your seed just emailed to you! lol

Op I think you should look for some cyber specialist or phone engineer that will use some tools to recover your mobile device, because $45k is not a joking amount here. $0.7btc can take some people here 10 to 15 years to accumulate if possible, because btc price is increasing. I will just sudjest you listen to what other senior college above has said. Btc is too expensive to be left in that wallet do all what you can to restore it even if you lost $5k to get it back don't mind, just do it. I believe there is no problem without solution all you just need is time.

Because I know when it comes to iPhones, somewhere around the iPhone 4S-5 era it was impossible to recover anything because of the way the data was stored on the device. It was basically encrypted and if you wiped it the key was destroyed and backup was not possible. It’s been years since I looked into this but this I am sure of. It’s because I wanted to sell an old iPhone and wanted to make sure my data was completely safe from the new user.

Clone your hard drive and then take it to a phone repair shop, if the hard drive isn't damaged and the phone is still functioning just fine then there's still a possibility in recovery. That's a lot of bitcoin just to be left alone when there's options there that can make you recover it, my only problem with my recommendation to you is that there's a possibility that the repair/recovery guy might get to the wallet first and steal that bitcoin from you but I don't think that's the case. I hope that you'll recover that bitcoin, that's got to be a pain to not recover it so do whatever it takes. Data recovery specialist is your best option right now OP and hopefully you give us an update when you get it.

No more of a comment of if you thought you were mining with this (single core processor) but were actually mining with that (multi core i7) then are you sure that you don't have the old PC around (which might have more info about the backups in addition to what you have on the phone).

I do a lot of posing on my phone but using it to remote into a desktop so a lot of times things don't come out as what I was thinking.

And it's not because I'm pedantic, it's because I'm an ass that I don't have friends :-)

But anyway, you are more then likely wasting your time. The odds of finding the file with any kind of good data are just about zero.
After all this time, and an older phone like that with limited storage vs. today's phones with tons of storage the data was more then likely overwritten more then once.

Even a quick wipe and re-install of most early android phones made data recovery just about impossible.

Since '21 I have found access to older emails and reference to the payouts to this wallet from a now defunct mining pool.

I first remember mining BTC on a single core i7 CPU, so I was about even earlier than that too.

And no, this was a different wallet that I managed to crack the encryption on and was in fact an empty wallet from 2013 incorrectly named.

If you've made a backup on the phone storage, then it could possibly be retrieved given that that specific sector hasn't been overwritten. As such, it would likely have to be unused or used minimally or this to have any chance of success.

If you have never made a backup, then your phone would have to be rooted and to access the secure storage. For this, it is likely not feasible either but it would be worth a try. Phones from earlier on are easier to root.

Yes, it can be recovered but only by a specialist. It would be an encrypted recovery (nonsensical)

Wow you really were an early adopter. I assumed you had like 50BTC and you spent most of it and left the 0.7BTC because it was spare change and not worth sweeping. I did that in the past with 0.01BTC or so fractions.

Regarding the recovery. I don’t think you can recover it since it was wiped. If this was a regular hard drive then you could recover because the files are still there just the files are hidden. With the space of a phone it’s completely different.

Like someone mentioned before, see if you can get a recovery expert and maybe they can help you out.

Disk Drill, Recuva, Dr.Fone for Android/iOS are some of the good recovery tools you can use but they are not free if you want to use their premium features, I tried Dr.Fone a while ago but not the premium one but I think its a good one, but still, recovering data is not that hard, you can seek some specialist to recover data for you, maybe you could find some expert here. I suggest you to make a thread of a bounty on the service page, as a little reward for the expert will do the work for you.

If you are OK with it, besides it, recovering data by yourself, while having no technical skills might cost you the least chance that you had if you would have chosen to hire an expert. I hope you got my point, I can understand you must be under some pressure and excitement too, so in these feelings don't give your seed phrase or keys, etc. to anyone, which means don't do anything dumb.
