Hey Guys!I'm very excited to announce that I've accepted an invite to take on the roll as project manager for Rise. Both Steve and Justin (the co-founders) would like to work with me and I truly believe I have both experience and dynamic to positively contribute to this budding project.
It's been a very long time since I put my alias "Alty" on the development side of a crypto project. In fact there has only been 2 times before. Those coins were Mintcoin where I was project manager during it's most successful (to-date) moments in early 2014 before going on to found Cloakcoin in 2014. Although I'm no longer involved in either of those coins I think they were left in more than capable hands. Both coins are alive and healthy 2 years later.
Rise is different because I'm going as far as putting my name on the team, but only after long discussions with the founders and seeing some proof of work (results) before signing the dotted line and announcing my position. I've seen enough from Justin (lead coder and co founder) to publicly commit. Also and a big also... I'm honoured to be the first person on the team to announce the very first Rise testnet launching tomorrow.
What makes this coin special? Why Rise?Firstly there is a tech component whereby Rise offers an end to end platform that provides "User Friendly Dapps"... Just like Lisk you say!
Well yes and then no.
Yes; because Rise is using a previous codebase as a start (like all coins after btc) and you have to start somewhere.
And no; because Rise will build and advance independently Lisks "easy to use" philosophy and we'll continue to do whatever it takes to keep on innovating and advancing in this ever changing and evolving "crypto" development cycle.
Secondly is the RE potential but more on that in just a moment.
Does the Rise team have what it takes to go the distance? I've got a good feeling about this team, the best I've ever had for the following reasons. The founders are committed and their vision is... think big! They are getting stuck into the project and tasks are getting crossed off the list faster than I can get them down (exaggeration but you get the picture!)
. We've all seen first hand coders walk when no more btc is trickling into their pockets or they have no more coins to dump. I know right now, that with this team... the walking out scenario is not going to happen, Rise is more than that. There is one scenario where I could see the project... not happening... and I'll say it right now, it won't happen if there is not enough funding to make it possible. With the correct funding in place, i.e enough btc raised during the ICO, Rise will be a very long term project. Indefinite perhaps. And here is one potential example of how Rise can keep going on and on...
You may of noticed something about Real Estate in the announcement, well here is a bit more information about that as it seems a better time than any to introduce this potentially very interesting project that I proposed to Steve and Justin.
Project Acre: What is Acre?Acre (depending on feasibility including legalities) will be a subsidiary project to Rise that will be run by myself, Cormac Lucking. It’s the link between my two working passions, crypto and construction that until now I’ve not realised how to fit the two together. I’ve acquired over 10 years’ experience in the building trade in France, am now self employed and currently completing my first residential (property development).
Having been a central part in various crypto projects in the past as well as a full time Crypto trader for over one and a half years from 2013 to 2015 I took time out to concentrate on the building aspects of my career. I understand that having to rely on tech developers in order to make a coin constantly innovative over (potentially) many years is something that I could never really control without very deep pockets. Until recently I didn’t know how to re-enter the crypto game on a production level and provide a constantly profitable investor platform, one that I could be totally in control of to minimise exogenous risks. How could I link my skill sets in the building trade to crypto? Acre concept was born from a desire to make it happen and the spark came to life after being contacted by Rem to act as project manager for Rise.
The concept from a macro level is simple… A company (entity) is founded in France and we produce new builds of which a percentage of profits after sales are attributed to Rise holders. Like the clichéd acorn becoming the mighty oak, think of Acre as a bonus to holding Rise and a way to potentially earn lifelong dividends that could scale up as Acre expands, which of course is the ultimate goal. Consider this, even if the tech side of Rise was to suddenly become out-dated because everything we know suddenly changed and crypto died!!
… Acre wouldn’t care and it would keep paying out Rise holders regardless.
In terms of organisation and to keep things in house as much as possible I would oversee all initial builds in France and where needed I could reach out to extended family members who are architects in both the US and France for help during planning and constructibility phases when Acre scales up to take on larger projects.
When will Project Acre Happen?Although the concept itself is simple enough there are some legal clarities to be defined such as how to take crypto investments, convert to fiat and then back to crypto all the while passing via a traditional company. In brief an accounting nightmare and potential tax and legal minefield.
So whilst the idea of providing Rise investors with RE investment opportunities gets me very excited there are many steps to get the correct structures in place. I will post new information related to Acre as it happens and sincerely hope we can make it a reality.
Coming SoonThere is a ton of good stuff on the way shortly including signature campaigns, updated thread design, video presentations and most importantly an actual live testnet with an updated version of Lisk (basis of Rise) running on it... for everybody to see and play with.
