in almost 4 years of existence there isn't even 1, online shop which accepts this coin, even dark web shop doesn't accept it, anonymous entities create it, and they don't want that

Guys here i found very cool faucet with interesting algo. It has deposit address and every claimer will get 1/10000 of it. So more donations will make more claims. People always can check address in blockchain and know total balance
As example 100 ONION in faucet balance in theory should giveaway 0.01 ONION to every claimer. Imagine get 0.01 BTC for free now.

Important things are next; Deepsend -- protocol for anonymous sends of Onions, is "broken" its just copy paste of first BTC mixers when every mixing has happen in 1 block, so its easy to track, these days BTC mixers had mixing where u can choose time of mixing 1-48 hours , thats is very difficult track transactions through 2 days, but Deepsend is finish in 1 block, and that`s is easy to track, speccially when u track known address, only good thing in Deepsend is that, thats is integrate in wallet and u can mix it in wallet, u dont need use third party mixers, its really nothing breakthrough what world didint saw b4. coin`s like XMR & ARRR had all address shield and that's been better privacy coins , than ONION coz you don't know which addresses have amount, example ; With Onion can easily see address list, and an amount which some address had/have, so is an easy figure that someone doesn't pay gun or illegal porn with 0.0003 ONIONS, in contrary in ARRR & XMR you cannot know which amount addres hold, Ofc that no one will pay pen with 5000 ONIONS, so is easy to guess Deepsend,

Onion has nothing to offer, its failed project, Was delisted from Kucoin, because this project loose all community, Monero is better than this, don't invest, old members wait price increase to dump it, its on smaller exchanges with 50$ daily volume. I'm afraid I did not update my wallet and appear to be on a fork. I purchased coins in 2018/2019 and am on wallet 2.1.2. I can see the block height does not match the explorer.
With this version of wallet, I can see all my coins. When updating to 2.2.0 or 2.2.2, all coins are missing. I've attempted to re-sync a couple times, and all coins are missing.
Is there any way to recover these old coins, or are they gone forever?

If you didn't move the coins they are still on your address on the heading chain, no worries about that. The best would be to export the private keys from your old wallet and import them on the new.
A situation where you really could "lose" coins is, where you buy coins on a forked chain. In this case the transaction of your new purchased coins never happened on the heading main chain.

I have to start by saying the community here at Onion including support is AMAZING!
They were very quick to reply to my support ticket.
Since I'm an idiot and didn't update my wallet since 2-3 versions back, support offered solutions and I was able to restore all my coins by ultimately importing my privkeys into a new wallet.
That is the solution.
