hey guys! just been reading through website and i saw something like no ico or crowd-sale conducted on this project, all tokens are going to be airdroped to members participating in the airdrop campaign, i thought of been a part of the campaign but i realize you must have at least a certain amount of onion in deeponion wallet to qualify for the drop and the amount of onion you have determines the quantity you get (not realy happy with that
)
so if there was no crowd-sale in this project,how did some hodlers with huge amount of onion comes to have so much in there possession? this part is not very clear to me, except there was a private placement of some sort, between love the deeponion platform, looking like the next generation of bitcointalk but more advanced
The AirDrop has been going on for 31 weeks. The people that joined from the beginning have of course gotten a good deal of $ONIONs. In the beginning every AirDrop participant got an equal amount of $ONIONs.
As DeepOnion became available on exchanges and to avoid people dumping their $ONIONs the DeepOnion team changed the rules for the AirDrop saying that you needed a minimum amount of $ONIONs to participate and that your "share" in the AirDrop depends on you $ONION holdings. This also gave a chance for investors to come in and buy up more $ONIONs to increase their holds.
So, as it functions today, is that you get approx 4-5% interest on your $ONION holdings every week (if you are a part of the AirDrop). That means that the long-term investors and those that have larger holdings gets a bigger part of the AirDrop every week.
Without this shift in rules the coin would ahve been prone to very large "dumps" after each Airdrop. This gives people an insentive to HODL since they will egt more each week because of it. Think of it as weekly staking!
I know that some are concerned that after the final AirDrop there is going to be people "dumping" their coins since the weekly interest will be gone. That is a slight risk but the community support is strong and since volumes are still fairly low and a "major" dump is improbable to occur. A sudden dump will jsut give a chance for the real supporters to buy up some cheap coins. I will be ready for it to pick up some cheap $ONIONs at that time. You still have the staking interest of 10% annual that is also an insentive to keep HODL your coins.
The question you should ask yourself, do you believe in the technology and in the community support? My answer is yes but you should make your own decision. Take a look at the Whitepaper:
