Maybe caused by the upcoming hard fork. Do the newer v1.7 wallets accept connections from older ones?

On the last hard fork I had many orphaned stakes (with the older wallet) a few days before the actual switch, so I assume the same happens now. The newer wallets don't accept the blocks from the older ones (also before the actual feature activation).
