Online gambling and gambling real life is the same as both are equally in need of a bet. Perhaps in your own state crack down on online gambling that considers gambling is also illegal. If my country's real life gambling is illegal and strictly forbidden, but for online gambling has not been dealt with firmly so that they do not become the reach of government.

Not only in Philippines but many other countries also banned online gambling, So if you want access these online gambling sites then only option is using VPN or proxy ip's.

In India also all kinds of gambling is banned but still people access these online gambling sites using proxies but most of the new sites you can access without any proxy.

Whatever you do, do not use VPN or proxies to access gambling site if they are illegal in your country.  The site could lock your account and freeze your funds.  It would be better to stay away from online gambling completely than risk losing your money.

a good site will always detect using a VPN or proxy, some sites are waiting for you to add money to your account and just after that they will lock your account because of using VPM

Yup... RubberDuckie is 100% correct... it's all about the money! I will just talk about the US since that is where I am located... Since most of the big poker rooms are based outside the US, the US government does not get a cut of those billions and that just will not ever be acceptable by this or most other world governments. This is 95% or more of why governments have issues with online gambling.

Yes, their primary BS reason is the it "protects" consumers, but this is complete and utter BS. Firstly, the % of people that get addicted to gambling and ruin their lives is minimal, and for that small minority, then can EASILY find many other alternatives to online poker or other types of online gambling. To be honest, there may be a very slight incentive towards online because of the ease of use (convenience of not leaving your home), but again, for the people with true gambling problems, going outside of their house to find their fix will rarely be a problem.

In fact, if you really think about it, for the overwhelmingly vast majority of gamblers, online gambling is actually MUCH safer than casino-based or any other out-of-your-home variety, and here's the reason why...

Let's say you wanna go to a casino to gamble. At minimum, you have to get in your car and drive. At maximum, you have to fly somewhere and then drive. In both cases, the travelling TO this location is much more risky than gambling at home. AND... the return trip in many cases will be significantly more risky because most people will have consumed at least marginal amounts of alcohol at the casino.  Furthermore, there are numerous additional inherent risks inside the casino. One is that you could get robbed or scammed while there. Another is the damage that breathing in all of that 2nd hand smoke will do to your body. I personally also have severe smoke allergies, so playing poker in most casinos is not really an option for me.

Talking about casinos... of course, they are also very influential in the battle to shut down online gambling, at least here in the US but probably elsewhere as well.  That's because they at least perceive that they are losing a large chunk of revenue to online gambling. I say perceive because I have yet to see definitive proof that this is true, but as long as they perceive it to be true, they will most certainly fight (usually by "influencing" governments) to shut down online gambling.

So, it's a very tough battle to win because there is so much power and money going against it.  It really sucks because there are very few poker sites that still support US players.  Hopefully, PokerStars can get legalized in my state again and soon, because options are getting very limited for players here.

Hello Guys, I would like to know you're understanding about online gambling and real life gambling. Since here in the philippines online gambling is now illegal. I'm just curious what's the difference about this too. Why make online gambling illegal?
Online gambling does not take any taxes, so maybe the gambling sites make 1000$ profit and they dont pay any taxes to gouverment

They declared online gambling because they could not get tax and also there was involved black money. My understanding for this decision is clear since Bitcoin is best way to gamble anonymously and securely. Philippians government was facing to troubles to trace the money being used in dark market. The want to combat the crimes and unregulated online gambling is becoming big challenge for some states.

yeah these countries claim they are stopping online gambling for the citizens "own
good" keeping them from getting in credit card debt and losing money quickly at
home but we all know its because they can't get their cut from taxing it.

Every country has it own regulations about gambling whether it's legal or illegal. I agree that some government couldn't get tax and huge money involved that can be related to dark market or crimes. But it's hard to handle all of it right? Since some people doesn't want gambling be forbidden and online gambling become an option to do it.

Any form of gambling whether online or not is illegal depends on country's jurisdiction. Online is much worst because you cant personally see who is betting where even a young kid can do without notice by the Guardian. And also many scams can happen online.

But at least the online gambling safer than real gambling I mean about the law although the identity looks at one of the online gambling
you can still make some excuse for it in contrast to real gambling if you are in a gambling room even though you did not play you'll get a legal issue
