On March 18, 2010, Osiris SPS developers announced that they are planning to migrate Osiris SPS into a GPL licensed open source software project in the following months.[3] However, as of 15 September 2013, the source code has not been made available and the 1.x series has not been released.[4]

The idea is good but this is not Free and Open Source software, therefore any claims of "Security" are based on the words of the few who have seen the code. This might come backdoored and who knows what else.

These kind of projects MUST be open sourced if they wish to be taken seriously. Take a look at Bitcoin, or Tor...

Does anyone else have to constantly restart the osiris client because it crashes after a few minutes? It's still a great project but I hope to find a cure for the random crashes.

windows there ? working fine here, let the osiris devs know about it maybe you have some special set-up that causes lots of crashes http://www.osiris-sps.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=1805

I like this idea of this.  We should get a .bit name registered.
Or just use the Osiris client, since it's distributed and all. It's harder to visit a .bit than to use Osiris.
Well the client is great for desktops, but what about mobile devices?

I'll let paraipan figure out the best place to put that. I may have started the forum, but all I really did was copy the sections from this forum. paraipan is responsible for the beautiful homepage we now have, so I'll let him figure out an optimal way to include that. Smiley

now i get it crystal clear man, so its like a tree that starts from one person a makes lots of branches. So if someone deletes contents he and his "followers" will see it as deleted but not the rest of the members, part of other branches... hope i got it well this time  Smiley
"Yes".
If you take a link of the monarchic forum, and one from the anarchic one ... you will see that the anarchic one has also the ID of the admin Wink
Anyway, it's anarchic because users are able to change for "themself" who follow ( it isn't possible on the monarchic one ).
So as I said somewhere else, technically, it's possible that 2 ( or more ) boards/admins/staffs/community can live at the same time on the same database without seeing each other Smiley

When you register an anarchic board, you put also an user id.
It's the admin id, so you follow the rules of this admin, and everyone that he will put/enable as staff of the board.
So no one will be able to edit your messages, I mean ... everyone will be able to, but these chances will be not available to other users if the follow the admin id an children ids.
On an anarchic board, ask someone ( not a mod ) to edit your message.
He will be able to do it, but you wont see anything ... because you are following the admin id/rules.

tl;dr on how the database maintains its integrity?
I'm not sure that I have understood correctly your question, anyway nothing is going to be deleted.
When someone edit/delete something, it just make a new copy of the old one ... like wikipedia.
If you follow the id/rules of the admin_1, so if he delete something, you wont see the thing the he deleted ... but you can always open the "assistant" and see what he modified/deleted.

Right, so it essentially just lets you create a forum (or whatever) that can't be shut down?
Yes, anyway if you open the monarchic, it can be possible to shut down ... if they get admins / all staff.
The anarchic one it's impossible.

If all staff of a board disappears, a new group can born directly chosen from remaining users.

1) Build your forum
2) Share your forum id/link
3) Get peers
...
4) Profit

You can also do something else, example:
1) Find a free host with dns, example: http://www.000webhost.com
2) Take a free domain like something.tk
3) Install Isis on the hosting service and set your domain
4) Connect your ( or someone else ) board with your Isis getweay.
...
4) Profit

Example:
http://www.tntvillage-sps.tk ( it's an italian board )
( while you surf on it you are using an Isis gateway, and it is connecting to some peers ... it's all in php )

Osiris link of tntvillage-sps:
Code:
osiris://|portal|01000001DE41404D75A1F0C5377ADEF23DFA14313B7E62BC|name=Salvotnt%20Friends%20P2Pages|description=|user=|

You can make X clones of this board.
I mean, you can open 10 account on 000webhost.com ( example ), and register 10 domains.
They will connect to the p2p network.
Everyone can make a "clone".

Even if everyone of them will get closed, the p2p board will continue without stop on the network ... so someone else can open other Isis gatewey.

The Osiris Team is happy to announce a new version of Osiris.
Osiris 0.14 gives many new improvements over every features: features, security, speed, stability.

Osiris is a freeware software made to build completely shared portals through p2p ( serverless ).

This release features a new Extensions System (with automatic repository for downloading and updating directly from Osiris), DHT bootstrap, general user interface redesign, skin support, etc.
This is also the first release available also for Windows 64-bit and Mac-OSX, in addition to Windows 32-bit and Linux (32 and 64 bit).

For a quick introduction, look our Video Tutorials.

We kindly ask to report any problems on the official forum.

This is a new release of series 0.X of the Osiris project.
We hope to freeze features and resolve bug-fixes with release of other version of this series, in short release cycle.
In the meantime, we are working on the new series 1.X, that will be totally Open Source, released under GPL.

A special thanks is given to all the support team for the contribution to the release of this version, thanks!
