Will a fan suffice?  Is the heat on the Antminer's that bad?  This may be really silly to ask, but has there been anyone that has experimented with fully submersed liquid cooling on a small scale for devices like this?  Not trying to hijack the thread, I'm interested in the Antminer's and have one ordered, may have another one after payday.  I found this:  ( https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/mineral-oil-cooled-rigs-52867 ) though if there was something smaller and less expensive than full blown aquarium.

keep in mind that the Antminers will run hotter and require additional cooling

Actually, there was 'Antminer U1 overclock guide' and I've got it in my notebook.

https://github.com/AntMiner/AntGen1/commit/2b6bd7d3b01187f2fbff0474cdd6b8b8509a430b

But presently it was removed.

However, what colinfx stated are also in that o/c guide.

I am overclocking AntMiner U1's with cgminer option --bmsc-freq as below:

1.6Gh/s (default) use:
--bmsc-freq 0781

1.8Gh/s (overclock) use:
--bmsc-freq 0881

2.0Gh/s (overclock) use:
--bmsc-freq 0981

Am running my 3 AntMiners at 2.0Gh/s with no problems.

Good luck!

Cfx.

Search around. There are plenty of posts about overclocking the big ones (s1). You can fake your way through the small ones as well.. I am currently looking for the one about overclocking the small ones (u1). I know its here. I just can't find it. And the best way is to trial and error. I know it sucks with a $90-$100 miner, but thats how it goes.

I live in CO and my Hub is right next to the window with a USB fan on them. I understand the heating risks, and I hold noone at fault for the advice given on this forum.

If you do not add a heatsink, you are risking to burn it. Especially if you use it on a room with normal temperature.
And guess you do not have any warranty.

Hey all,

So, I'm a super noob when it comes to using cgminer, and I know antminer only runs on a specific version OF cgminer. I was hoping someone could guide me through the process of overclocking my antminers to 2gh/s? I read the README from that version of cgminer but when I get to the end it has what I expect are hex values so I'm not sure what I'm actually doing there. If someone could explain it out or give me the cgminer argument list in order to make them run at 2GH/s? Thanks for your help in advance!
