I am very interested. I built my rigs traditionally, on cheap 25.00 home depot metal racks. While I enjoy the art of rig construction, these have garnered my interest!

I just talked to panda i have their number. Confirmed they are not MXM anymore. it is not the same board it is 8 x pcie slots.  I'm still ok with that.  Honestly way easier to fix and upgrade if needed.

So does that mean they are just regular graphics cards?  That would be nice for resale value.

doubtful, based on pictures I saw, they had passive coolers on them and the chassis fans blew air across them.

They could be reference designs though so you could just change out the heatsink assembly

I guess I don't understand, what is the difference between a MXM card, a normal graphics card, and reference design...etc?

MXM are laptop GPU''s. Reference GPU are ones that ship on first batch when new GPU comes out. They use AMD/NVidia design. Usually boxed type of coolers. Later AIB (XFX,sapphire, ASUS etc.) partners come with their designs - coolers, overclocks and etc.

No one has them.

No true photos.

So we wait and see.

I sold my b1 model

I made about 185 dollars.

Counting my mining and the sale.

I used the cash to buy. Some Asus rx 480 8 gb cards.

I got 9 cards for it.

Since I had empty boards looking for cards I thought it made sense.

So I turned 8 cards into 9.

I knew that the solar array would be too hot for this gear.

not for 2K there is not.  I ordered 28 of them and to be honest even if they are these monstrosities I would not be upset.  I'd honestly like the B1 instead but I would not be upset.  At the end of the day its still a decent deal for the $.

It's debatable if you can build something better for 2K because in the time it takes to produce and ship the B3, you could have already purchased components to build 28 of your own rigs and have them mining long before the B3 ships out.

However, if you're looking for an a-la-carte GPU miner that you plug in and turn on, you can't beat what Pandaminer is offering for the cost.

For me, the value was in the density of the B1 design. The pictures I saw earlier of what may be an early B3 design that showed 5 fans across vs 3 fans as pictured above is larger width wise than I would find desirable. However, given the right amount of space, it would work just fine, just not for what I would want to use it for.

I believe it is in a step in the right direction to go with larger fans but 5X 120mm fans width? If that's true for the final B3 design, That would mean the B3 would be 35 inches to 38 inches wide; basically double the width of a standard server chassis.

So rumors seem to be true.. no more mxm gpu's..

Got some pictures that someone sent me.

Looks A LOT like the first pandaminer design.

Anyhow.. i don't know what to think.. that it's going to be heavy?  Roll Eyes

 Undecided

Bye Bye density, the one thing that B1 and pandaminer really had going for it IMO.

This design is nice but I'm not so sure how it stacks up to long available rigs from Bitworks.

I suspect maybe that this is another reason why they did not show real pictures of the new design among other possible reasons I previously mentioned.

...I wonder how many people that pre-ordered blindly thinking it would be only slightly larger than B1 are going to be upset?

Clearly, its much, much larger. Pictures posted on website showed 3 Fans across, these pictures illustrate 5 fans across.

here is a picture from their website of the B3 order page, mislead...much?

Well, i never said it was the real deal Smiley

I got the pictures from someone and he never said it was a Pandaminer, but at first glance, it sure looks like it Smiley

Anyhow, even if it's not, there are definitely others out there, alternatives?...

I considered this may be a testing design but if you look closely at the board near the USB ports/Green LED I see what appears to be a "B3" stamped on the board.

If those are real pictures of the B3 Pandaminer; Either its a larger scale testing design of something they are going to reduce in size later or its what the B3 really is/will be in production.

Or

It's someone else's one off design and it has nothing to do with Pandaminer and this is all just academic Cheesy

Interesting pics ... so regular cards, with modified single slot coolers, and it actually takes up more volume than the B1.

Stripping out the fans and getting the heatsinks cool with powerfull fan like this is logical - with 470, I think even easily achievable......

How are the cards mounted on the PCI slots on the mobo? Mini Risers?
