Is there a thread also for panic buying. I see people calling it foumo.
Yes there is,you check this in this section about that thread you are looking for.
It seems there no panic selling even though the bitcoin price is high.  I think they will hold thier bitcoins until next year for much higher profit.

Do you have any sources you use regularly that may be of assistance to a new trader like me?

It doesn't work the way you think it should. I perfectly understand what you are feeling, and believe me, if you have spare money which you want to invest and it amounts to a few thousand dollars (or even more than that), you'd better put 99% (well, let it be 90%) of it on a deposit account in a decent bank so that you won't regret losing it later. With the remainder you can start trading or investing...

There is a great wisdom in the saying that you should never invest what you can't lay to rest

There are too many people and different organizations in Bitcoin now for a large dump of coins to affect it, IMO.  Maybe a couple years ago this would happen but I do not see that now.  I foresee panic buying in the future, rather than selling.
I wish you must be wrong.
In past when bitcoin has few number of adopters, panic selling must have brought big impacts.
Fortunately now we are having more number of bitcoin adopters, there will not be any possibilities for big dumb even with panic selling. Yes there will be no chances for more number of bitcoin user to get panic and to sell bitcoins at a time.

I've seen a lot of people talk about investing in bitcoin alts and I even read about it in forbes and fortune magazine online so im sure they'll be plenty of oppertuinitiees coming for me. I think the trick is finding the good ones and hopefully over time i'll get a knack for it. How long did it take you to become a great trader?

If you ask me, I'm not a great trader at all. Moreover, I'm strongly inclined to think that it is impossible to earn decent profits on a regular basis unless you have access to insider information, can front-run other traders' orders or otherwise milk the market. But you still can be more or less successful if you make a safe bet on the direction the market is going long term. For example, it is almost dead certain that most currencies are losing purchasing power faster than the US dollar. They are gradually devaluing every night and day, but exchange rates more often than not move in huge swings (many percentages within a few days) and then stick around some average value for months. You can use that to your advantage. So if you are not a US citizen, you can buy dollars with your local currency and just wait till the trend reveals itself. In the interim, you can do cost averaging by buying and selling part your stash...

The same is fully applicable to Bitcoin, by the way

Well Deisik. I think if I buckle down and focus on learning I can be one of the professional traders that make a living doing this. I just need to find the right text books aka right threads. I want to invest in many btc altcoins because they seem to have the biggest growth. Look at eth and xmr as examples.
If I can just find 1 or 2 investments like that each year it could make for a very profitable trading year.

Do you have any sources you use regularly that may be of assistance to a new trader like me?

I think this time, panic selling stopped again. Well, it was characterized by stable prices bitcoin today. perhaps, the 15th of December or the passing of that date, there will be panic selling and making bitcoin price becomes $ 800. the current price increase bitcoin happen quite slowly, so, I feel that bitcoin prices will be stable in a little time, before panic selling occurs
There will be no panic selling yet since the price movement of bitcoin is increasing, time now to buy and hold more as who knows if the the price increase will continue then we will gain more profit when the right time will come to sell our bitcoins.

What if somebody will make a huge dump and sell it all the way to earn some profits because of this rally in bitcoin, and someone sees it and do that same thing. Is there any effect on bitcoin when someone to this,?
Thats not enough to make bitcoin fall,if someone dumps the price will only go down just little and make bitcoin go strong and make the price go higher.
The dump that we can witness depends on the certain situation, if the dump has no good reason it could be a manipulated price and most likely the price will back up after a certain period, we have to wait for that opportunity if we trust bitcoin and buy cheap bitcoins that we can sell in a short term for easy profit.
In altcoin dumping doesn't need reason, when the coins price seems to fall people will also follow the current trends and whether the price can recover or not it's all depend on the traders. if they seek potential on it after price falling then they might buy it expecting price rising. most of coin which can recover is the one which having quite big trading volume whilst the rest hardly to recover

It will create big panic for sure but it will not harm the price totally it will just give other investors to hold much bigger bag holdings i still believe that those who will hold longer will surely profits from this investment no need to panic.
I think the only way for bitcoin to go down ,is when exchanger colllapse or being hacked and all the btc were stolen. But dumping will not make bitcoin price to go down.

Im brand new to bitcoin as you can see. I atually got my first btc just yesterday and now im wondering if I should panic sell. Im having buyers regret. Is the price going to make new high or will it tumble and be replaced by zcash.

Please help me to decide what to do next.

Welcome to the great world of crypto currencies, I would like to advise you, not to take the advice of others including me (especially when it comes to investment). You should do your own research and act according to it because you are the only person who can invest your money in the best possible option.

I believe, bitcoin has a great potential at the same time I am aware that it might go wrong in the long term so I have my investments up to the limits of my loss-bearing capacity (the amount which I can afford to lose) so if you don’t have faith in bitcoin or you can’t afford to lose your investment then simply don’t invest.

Wow. I was expecting to find people who would give me only good information like my banker does when I ask him what I should invest in but then again he is my paid banker.lol. Im a BTC bull as they put it otherwise I would never have bought any but now that I have mine I want to do something with them. I want in invest in other bitcoin alts and maybe even do some gambling with them but being so new I dont really know where to start.
Is there a go to place to find only legit info about stuff like that or must i wade through these waters to find the truth.

You should stick to Bitcoin trading and stay away from altcoins as far as you can

And keep it simple. If the price goes up, say, 10%, sell 1% of your stash, if it then goes down 5%, buy back half of what you sold. If it continues to go down, buy back the other half, then rinse, repeat. There are other legit investments as well (e.g. investing in well-known casinos), but these investment opportunities quickly expire due to a lot of people pouring their money into them once the window opens. But trading is always here and available to everyone 24/7

There are not a lot of people or business with that kind of muscle but a possibility something like that could create a domino effect and then other major players begin to sell heir bitcoins, and that could crash the price.

you are describing panic selling yourself!

when such thing happens usually weak hands (newbies) start selling as soon as they see price going down then it starts a chain of events which leads to more sells.

but the effect depends on the cause of the panic sell and it is usually small and at worst case scenario it is only $50 reduction of price.

It's so pathetic to panic selling while bitcoin is strong cryptocurrency even there are some bad news about it.
Bitcoin always recover the price like 200 times when it falls due to many accidents.
The fact is, mostly people buy bitcoin with intended to sell it out when the price reach certain point.
For a wise investor it must be taken action that way, we had to have a specific goal with the price to sell to make a profit or to minimize our loses. The good thing with bitcoin is it's very profitable investment as it grows more than a 100% this year alone which a good sign for more success in the future.
