Paypal and Bitcoin are 2 different and they're not compatible at all.

Even paypal have bitcoin service, i'm sure it'll be centralized and 100% not anonymos. In fact, i think it will be worse than Coinbase because they very suspicious with user activity and often freeze account with vague reason.
They might have have resources and intelligence to do so, but i think it'll be vain.

Paypal and Bitcoins are both competitors, paypal is not available in other country same with Bitcoins.
but its more advantage using Bitcoin compare to Paypal. Smiley

PayPal and Bitcoin can co-exist in the same market, but each with a lower market share. Bitcoin just gives you another decentralized alternative payment option over PayPal. There are 1000's of people,

who got burned by PayPal and their stupid rules and regulations and who would look for other alternatives and then there are many who got hacked or lost some coins on the Bitcoin side. We will see a

movement of people from and to each of these options over the years.  Grin

From where you concluded bitcoin is not available in some countries just like paypal?  Huh
Bitcoin can be used even in north korea even they are strict in regulation, if you are talking about uses of bitcoin in local merchant than yes it will take time but in near future merchants from every country will adopt bitcoin.

I don't think they will be fine together regardless of the management, PayPal is based on using transactions between users for a cost "higher than bitcoin by a large margin" Therefore both seem to be at least competitors and won't fit together IMO.

There is no doubt if paypal integrate xapo and by them start dealing with bitcoin as altcoins will be a huge jump as people may deposit at paypal and moove into crypto and do the reverse, but one thing is that maybe paypal will block the funds as they will ask to know where the money from.I hope if this happens paypal be more clean, asking their users if they will use crypto, and then they dont block any funds from those.

One thing is sure paypal is making something to reach the crytp currency ,otherwise would make any sense to hire the ceo of xapo, soo we may see paypal integrated into xapo or working with crypto currencie, maybe just bitcoin.
yes i agree with that,do you think its good news or bad news if paypal really work with xapo or hire ceo of xapo to make something new between bitcoin and paypal?

I would think Paypal would like to be part of bitcoin before it is too late, they will figure a way to integrate it into their payment system and bringing this guy on board is a step in the right direction.

Who knows they might be looking at sidestepping bitcoin and creating their own alternative, but it would make more sense for them to move into bitcoin early to get a piece of the pie and we are still early in the bitcoin era.

Maybe most of PayPal's efforts will be in vain.

They're trying to apply their old hat methodologies to Bitcoin, but it just isn't going to fly.

Maybe they're intelligent enough to build some form of a product or service on top of the Blockchain, rather than just doing the thing that everyone else with half a brain has already done - which is the same old, same old "integration of bitcoin payments."

What these guy's don't understand is that they are the same breed of middlemen that Bitcoin was designed to disrupt, and Bitcoin doesn't need some third pary, intermediary payment transmission system for it to work. I can easily send BTC payments to anyone, worldwide, without having PayPal deduct their highly inflated fees.

We are in the age of applications as opposed to the oversized, clunky service providing corporations of yesteryear. And bitcoin represents the age of 'decentralised' applications. PayPal has an ethos that is just not compatible with this new world that has been enabled due to Blockchain tech

Maybe they'll be forced to find this out the hard way

Very good post I totally agree with.
I absolutely see no reason why I should use a Paypal created service on top of the Bitcoin Blockchain.I just use Bitcoin direct and that's it.
But maybe Xapo and Paypal try to figure out something completely different.Maybe just something blockchain without Bitcoin related.

I agree with you paypal should collaborate with bitcoin rather than competing against it both parties will benefit if this will happen so its a win win situation for both sides.

Now I do still believe Paypal are not best of friends with Bitcoin with that being said I'm wondering this year if they are taking a lighter view on it, giving they named bitcoin guru and founder of Xapo, Wences Casares to the board of Directors to assist in running the ship. More on the article from Jan here;

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/here-s-a-sign-that-paypal-is-embracing-bitcoin-220129913.html
bitcoin create 11 years after paypal founded, and i think bitcoin created for compete or replacing paypal, and its not paypal friend,on that article i just read that maybe paypal will only buy xapo, not embracing bitcoin and than make other currency.

PayPal and bitcoin differs completely. Both were a form of transaction supporting network but Bitcoin in a short emerged as a Digital currency which is now growing gradually.

Payment chargeback is really the killer for Paypal. It is unfair to honest sellers when the buyers are not honest.

I was a seller and was cheated by buyer to send item without tracking in order to reduce cost- ended up the buyer claimed the item never arrived...

well, everyone wants a piece of this market. and even if PayPal decides to do anything that is related with bitcoin they are just going to create a payment processor in order to get in on the fees they can take from the customers and make more money out of the revolution.
