This moral policing by PayPal needs to stop.
Even tho I agree with you, I recognize that it's paypal's right to do whatever they want as far as the moral crusading goes.  Remember, they were owned by ebay up until recently and just look at how many categories of items can't be sold there.  I'm pretty sure paypal's culture is still the same as ebay's, and they're still being as 'family friendly' as they possibly can.

O_e_l_e_o is correct, porn is big business and is almost integral to human nature, and as far as i know pornhub's porn is all legal stuff, and as vishnu.reang said they pay their taxes and are a legitimate business.  It's just that paypal doesn't want to be associated with porn.  That's their call, but it does show how much of a problem it can be with businesses like paypal when it comes to 'vice' purchases.

Paypal Drops Pornhub Support, Pornhub Is Now Exploring Cryptocurrency Options

Pornhub said two years ago that they are building a platform to accept wide range of cryptocurrencies. What is strange s that it take them this long.

They did partnered with puma pay last year in December as their crypto currency payment option right ? Am I missing something here?

I heard XVG verge also have partnered with pornhub since early 2018....
I'm not a big fan of that kind platform but I think there's already cryptocurrency-based adult entertainment platforms like xotika if I'm not mistaken of the site names.
It's the perfect match between cryptocurrency and porn to be in close proximity ... people wants privacy.... and cryptocurrency give it out for you. But still this industry lack of interest...

This moral policing by PayPal needs to stop. Pornhub is not doing anything illegal. They are operating a perfectly legal business, and they are paying taxes to the government without any delay. Here in India also there is a lot of moral policing. The government has blocked all the porn sites (such as Pornhub and Xvideos) and the guys are now using VPN to access these sites.

Paypal dropping Pornhub on their payments would seem like a very nice opportunity for bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies to penetrate (pun intended) the adult entertainment market. It would seem like it’s a small market but given that there are still a lot of patrons for the porn industry and a lot of people are still paying subscriptions to watch other people do intimate stuff on each other, this might still be a viable and thriving industry for bitcoin and cryptocurrencies to play on. Pornhub is a good start for these things to happen, and might actually bring a lot to the table.

To be honest, I don’t see much point for such a large site as Pornhub in switching to cryptocurrency.
What is the point, if the dollar will be used primarily in payment, because of this, something very fast and reliable should become the main payment system.

Cryptocurrency could be used as an additional means of payment but not as the main one.
This is the porn industry, anonymity and speed are important there.

They probably felt safe with fiat until now. They wanted to introduce more privacy for their clients but were getting a lot of money the traditional way and simply weren't pushing for the development of the project. Now it's going to get sped up because there's a real risk for their business. Every day of denied transactions means big losses. If Paypal denied them service for a week the losses would be bigger than the cost of the whole crypto integration.

Despite the long implementation of their plans, Pornhub has apparently only recently realized how cryptocurrency can be relevant for the porn industry.  One way or another, porn is a sought after product in the community, but many are ashamed of it.  Based on this, the anonymity of the cryptocurrency will enable people who consume this product to remain anonymous.

In the words of Dr Cox: I’m fairly sure if they took porn off the internet, there’d only be one website left, and it’d be called "Bring back the porn."

Like it or not, porn is part of our society and part of human nature. There will always be a market for porn, and people will always find ways to pay for it. I don't know why companies try to fight it so much. It's like when tumblr decided to ban all adult material, and have since lost almost 50% of their traffic.

It is another perfect example of why bitcoin is needed, and I hope Pornhub will go down that route. Third party companies shouldn't be allowed to dictate to their users what they can and cannot spend their own money on. You might not have any interest in spending money on porn, but what about when companies like PayPal start dictating about things you are interested in? They've done it before, most notably to sites like Wikileaks, they are doing it now, and they will do it again. They are shooting themselves in the foot and are only accelerating bitcoin's adoption.

I though bitcoin was used on buying porn since the very beginning and early adopters even creating a thread for it. But it is mind blowing facts to me that PayPal was widely used in some of the biggest porn site on the Internet. If I read it correctly, PayPal completely cut off tie with Pornhub for the payment gateway, this would create unprecedented demand for new alternative payment.

But it would also bring them into big troubles that bitcoin is extremely surveillanced, I’m not entirely sure PayPal would have better privacy features in this context.

Surprising to see Paypal was accepting a porn business, but Porhnub already supports cryptocurrencies. You can buy your premium account with Bitcoin, Horizen, and a few others. Unless I'm confusing with Youporn but I doubt. It's old news from 1-2 years ago.

edit:
No, I'm not confusing.

Probably Monero or Zcash. Though if people were using paypal they weren't worried about privacy, so any crypto should do the trick.
I don't think they were worried about their privacy because they show everything to the world. Cheesy I feel why not bitcoin because it can be liquidated easily compared to other coins into fiat and the people who were doing porn for nothing other than money so bitcoin will be best.

You just made me smile. Of course, the privacy we are talking here is that of the users or those who are consuming porn and not the many male and female performers connected to this very popular porn platform. And yes, even performers can also be concerned with privacy that is why they are not using their real names in the first place.

Pornhub should be including Bitcoin, of course, since I am sure that there is a good number of Bitcoin holders who are also porn connoisseur and just like gambling porn is a good market for cryptocurrency as well. The more choices the better for the site, I guess. Hell, they can even introduce their own coin that can be consumed within the platform itself. They can call it PornHubCoin if they want.
There were some projects worked in the way of paying porn related sites but every projects were failed since we can do the same thing with an existing coin. But if the site owner wants they can bag some millions by launching their project but may create some bad reputation to the site if value got dumped.
Agreed, already there were few projects that pay users in terms of bitcoin cash for the contents added to the website. There is specific website for movies as well as for porn contents. Here users uploading contents gets paid by the viewers as tip. There were also free contents which can be viewed without paying. Apart from this more telegram channels were operating were models request to pay in bitcoin for camshows. Now with the refusal of PayPal more porn creators and viewers move towards cryptocurrency.

I'm not sure feminism and pornography go hand in hand.  There are plenty of people who think it's degrading to women, and that porn is anti-feminist.  That's probably why there isn't much of an outcry when payment processors do things like this.  But that's a subject for another thread, probably one in P&S.

What coin would be appropriate for PornHub?  I don't know, pick one of the thousands that are on the market and I'm sure it would work just fine for their purposes.  How about Monero or one of the other "privacy" coins?  How about plain ol' bitcoin?  Isn't there something called Sexcoin as well?

I can't stand porn, so this isn't an issue near and dear to my heart but it does tick me off when payment processors start making moral judgements that affect their customers.  It's not like people are buying illegal porn with their services, so why should they care?  But anyway, crypto is absolutely a perfect solution to this.  It doesn't depend on banks or corporations or governments who can tell you what you can spend it on.

First to say that I liked the play on words  in that article you linked, "Pay Pal pulls out of Pornhub" , you should have kept it Cheesy
LOL.

Is it interesting how in this world where feminism and raging against "the patriarchy" is often encouraged. None of that rage is ever directed at payment processors like paypal who engage in what might be described as sexist and oppressive practices against women? Female rage is typically directed at stereotypical "nice guys". Never at those who are doing the actual oppressing.

Well, it would be really unrealistic for anyone to respond to this as discrimination against women because men are also involved in this industry. Even PornHub spokesman uses the term sex workers and does not question any discrimination against women. PayPal's decision is quite legitimate, and very likely has something to do with US policy towards certain countries, or a particular type of business that has been violated by PornHub.

Regarding the possibility that PH is start using cryptocurrency, it is just an idea for the future, which does not necessarily mean that it will be put into practice. If they decide to take such a step, they can offer more options than just one coin, or they will go in the direction of making their own coin.

But I am not surprised that Paypal is doing that, they have some weird decisions lately, and I am avoiding them like a plague for years.  As someone said, if someone pays PornHub using Paypal, he is not very worried about privacy, so any popular cypto would do. Maybe even Bitcoin as way more people heared about BTC than any other crypto and would be more inclined to use it.

Oof. Very good point right there. Well, people are seriously biased against the sex industry and are considered to be dirty in their eyes, which is really kind of sad. Most likely made by their morals and the like where they are unconsciously judging others by their own standards, which is in a sense, a mistake.

Which coin would fit pornhub's business model the best?
Most of the top coins could fit the bill don't you think? Well, as long as it's pretty reputable, I suppose any coin would do. That or they could try creating their own coin, something like a Phcoin or something. Naturally, It's best if they adopt BTC since it is the top coin, but other top alt coins could work as well.

I doubt Pornhub will adopt Monero or other privacycoins, since regulators around the world are very hostile towards these coins and already tell exchanges to delist them. All other coins suffer from weak privacy, which can do a lot of harm in this situations - third parties might be able to find out about someone's porn spending just by looking at blockchain, tools like mixers or coinjoin are such advanced topic that you can't expect regular people who try crypto for the first time to use them.
