Anybody may buy bitcoins and may implement bitcoin payment and they will improve the bitcoin acceptance with it.
PayPal and Google also.
If somebody doesn't want to use PayPal or Google with bitcoin payment he will be not forced to do it.

Bitcoin not interested in Paypal.

Accepting Bitcoin payment would always be in combination with 'delayed funds', You'll receive Bitcoin in 21 days. That is not Bitcoin...

Paypal would still be a good entry point for the majority. Paypal offers a 'safer' way to deal with bitcoin perhaps.

and if PayPal jumped on board, I think you'd see a very quick 50%+ jump in the price of bitcoin.

you mean just like yesterday + today

Not sure if this is bad or good news...

how could it possibly be bad news?

If they buy up a lot of volume @ mtgox, price drops. (Refer to two weeks back for a similar scenario). The budget that PayPal works with is in the ballpark of what can be used to manipulate the market at this point of time. Also, I doubt they give two shits about the whole BTC world. It's better for them to cause the price drop because they can buy everyone out.

And I think here, for us at PayPapl, it's just a question of whether Bitcoin will make its way to PayPal's funding instrument or not, and we're kind of thinking about it right now.

Hey, I think it would be great if PayPal adopted bitcoin. Greater adoption will push bitcoin forward, and if PayPal jumped on board, I think you'd see a very quick 50%+ jump in the price of bitcoin. They really don't have anything to lose and everything to gain.

Paypal is pretty evil, they report ALL your account info to the IRS, even if they claim "only for sellers with $20k+ in sales and 200 transactions."

Paypal wont ever allow it. They dont even understand it if they are considering it. Bitcoin makes Paypal totally obsolete.

Why would I fund Paypal with BTC if I can just send BTC directly, it costs me nothing and I dont have to provide a TaxID#, or even a name/address?

You still need to pump all this trillion printed dollars in to bitcoin, plus they could make bitpal obsolete in one day if they provide the same service....

They are scared to death of BTC.

When I saw him as he said it I could say he was scared to death being the next Kodak Smiley

Tbh my opinion might be a bit biased as I hate the company - especially the way they treat the business side (basically there is no discussion and they say f**k off).

Seems like we are pretty similar minded individuals, if I had about 30k spare I would invest into a Bitcoin alternative to Paypal.

but if Paypal did allow people to fund their accounts with bitcoins, that would be ..... so big.

Deciding to keep their enemy close could be the wisest thing they ever did.
