what is this "brake pedal" you speak of?
It's not that people are too stupid to use btc right now, I think most folks aren't really ready for the level of security required to be your own bank. People are kind of haphazard because of ach; if you can prove your money was taken fraudulently, usually you can get the transaction reversed. This makes people very cavalier about keeping a tight ship, once it's gone in Bitcoin, it's gone. I notice the people hemorrhage personal details on social media that can be used to socially engineer one's way into their accounts via customer service. No one believes in privacy anymore Sad

this is a main reason folks are not ready for btc.

most people i know have no clue about even he most basic computer security. and facebook... it is the best thing since sliced bread to them and their whole lives are on it. combine them and *poof* no more btc

Its upon every users need and make decision of when to spend. When one is satisfied with a small profit they might even sell at $500. So nothing to be serious with it.

Correct. We have our own ways of spending it with our own necessities. If a person needs it badly then why not. He earned it so he got the right to use it.

Bitcoin transaction times are so long it's not useable for real world commercial purposes. I use paypal when I have to sell or buy something and when I want to gamble and speculate I use bitcoin for that.
this seems right, average transaction could getting confirmed in 10-15 minutes if it's in normal condition, but this problem can be solved if the merchants   just processing transaction with 0 confirmation but the merchant will take the risk and facing people who will possibly trick the merchant with double spending

yes but i think they should wait tell the having. it will really give them a good profit in the end. if they have hold their bitcoins for such a long time then they should wait for a day or more. and after that they are free to use them according to their wishes.

It is not the best thing to do at the moment because the price is stable at the moment and it is not that high, I am sure that if you wait a bit that you can make more money with it.
So wait until after the halving, you should be able to make more at that point.
no i don't think so to say like that. if a person is using bitocin for his basin need in present time then how can we call him stupid. i think every one has the right to use their bitocin according to their wishes. and no one has the right to interrupt him.

Its our money and we can use it wherever and whenever we want, no one has any right to call us stupid, if I need money I will sell my coins without any hesitation.

I do not think they are too stupid for using the bitcoin, the most are just way too scared to do it in my eyes.
They are scared to lose money with investing into the bitcoin itself, I'm really thinking this.

This is probably the biggest mistake most newcomers to Bitcoin make when they dabble in the crypto currency market for the first time. Bitcoin is not necessarily an investment vehicle, it can be perfectly used as a digital currency should one desire to use it as such. It seems the majority of people think of Bitcoin like it represents the stock market and the fluctuating price makes them uneasy to get involved with the Bitcoin market.
Well I agree man. Bitcoin isn't only used for stock market and not because of investing because of it's changing price. bitcoin is used mainly for payments and many more.

i dont think that people are stupid but wallets can be too difficult to use for people who are not that experienced with computers.
Yup. I had one friend who's really not into tech stuff and he asked me what bitcoin is about. Of course, I was more than willing to talk him on it but he kind of lost interest because of the complexity of sending bitcoins from wallet to wallet as he didn't quite understand it well.

Not sure if it's complexity or simplicity... copy & paste wallet and then poof hundred dollar gone; lost your key? poof there's goes the $$

The halving is coming so i think it is not wise to spend or use your bitcoin now because you can earn when you just save your coins and wait for the price to increase. it really depends on people what they want to do with their bitcoins maybe they have reason and i think in my opinion its not right to call them stupid.

i don't agree with this at all.

you have to always try to spend your bitcoin otherwise how can you even expect bitcoin to grow and reach those big prices that you see all over the forum.

bitcoin needs to be used first by you and me so the demand as a currency grows so that a lot more services start accepting bitcoin then we can see bigger prices.

Keeping bitcoin unused is the worst thing you can do with your coins, either spend it or else convert it to your local currency, the circulation of bitcoin is essential to take its price to a higher level in future.

people are free to use bitcoin the way they want. it's a multi purpose tool if you so wish. it can be used as a currency to buy and sell stuff. it can be a store of wealth. it can be an investment tool, and so on. and beside that, there are enough coins in circulation to keep people happy. the higher the price is, the smaller the transaction will be eventually.
That's true but there are also those people who are too afraid to spend their coins and wouldn't spend their coins at all because they are always hoping for the value to go up. In the end, they won't be able to spend it and those coins are just stuck there for however long.

As for me, I spend at most 20% of my total monthly bitcoin earnings and save 80% and let them accumulate. When the price hits $1000, I'd spend them all. I swear.

Yeah there should be an good combination of saving and spending, both are important, spend some of them regularly and sell them when price reaches to your expected level.

"People are just too stupid to use bitcoin right now,” I overheard someone argue at a bar a few weeks ago as we were discussing the potential of cryptocurrency. “Society’s understanding of where money comes from is the real challenge.

This is the whole article I read at cointelegraph
I also do not know why people are using there Bitcoins at the moment to gamble or to buy stuff online.
At the moment you can make much money with the Bitcoin and it is only going to be more so hold on to them.

Yeah this is not the right time to spend, and if you are spending now then you are playing with your profits which you can earn at the time of halving.

I would like that halving would happend on the end of the year soo my income of bitcoins could be bigger, my project isnt making me too much as people are waiting for the new price of bitcoin.

Halving is in next few days but you should not be disappointed as bitcoin will allow you to make profits regularly and next halving will be after 4 years so you should start preparing yourself for that.

My regret is i had invested around 1btc, i hadnt waited for the halving, my project were going well till price start going up again, everytime the price jumps the income i get becames lower always. Im happy as i got a daily income doing nothing im near to roi from my investment in ammount of bitcoins, but i dont know how long the project will stand as price keeps growing.

I started Bitcoin maybe a month ago.  I can say that Bitcoin is not ready for average person right now.  There's just so much read and learn before using it.

Although I think the title can be rephrased as "Bitcoin is not for stupid people yet.."

Loil this is the first time i read this how do you think in what way are people who are using the bitcoin right now to stupid. I dont see the point because
there are allot of people smarter than you asking this kind of questions...
you are wrong skaven,i think he was meaning that people overrall on world, are just too stupid to use btc, they cannot understand the idea behind it,and the system it was created in etc.
I agree with him,the amount of people using btc now just confirmes that.

So you mean that people using Bitcoin are not aware of the usage and benefits of the bitcoins ? If this is what you meant, then i dont think it is true. People using the bitcoins are very well aware of bitcoins as well as altcoins too.
people who use bitcoins usually have a lot of knowledge about it in my opinion and they are certainly not too dumb to use it in my opinion, at least all the people i know who use bitcoins are surely not stupid

It's a fact that bitcoin is not grandma friendly but for people that know about IT and technology they should know some concepts at least they are familiar with bitcoin as beginners by making simple transactions.
But pushing transaction, seeds, and other troubleshoot need some advance knowledge.
