Sorry mate but Petition won't do anything important , Gabe Newell already said his word & made his decision about Bitcoin on Steam. they won't accept it anytime in the near future

This will be very profitable for Valve and they seem they like new ideas.

Ironically, change.org requested, after I signed the petition, that I sponsor it to increase the number of people seeing it. Invariably, they asked for a credit card number.

Is simpler to email steam and get a direct response from them and just forward the petition to them to look at. They would need at least 5k people to even look at it as tried this in the past requesting them to accept it and said if theirs enough people voting and legit votes then they would consider it but lightly as they do not fully understand it but as far as I know their looking into it as many other business are beginning to start accepting it via coinbase

Thank you for starting this petition! I hope BTC gets accepted, but I hope they choose wisely for alt-coins..... As of right now, I think they should only go Bitcoin

ALtcoins are a waste of time, bitcoin is the gamechanger. We need to stop confusing folks by using btc and alts interchangeably.

Probably low change that Steam is going to add it , at least not anytime soon.
Here is what Gabe Newell thinks : https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/gabe-newell-accepting-bitcoin-steam-purchases/
I don't really see bitcoin being compatible with the community marketplace and the amazing circle of money-skimming it creates for Valve, but I also don't see why it'd have to be. What Steam really has to steer clear of is becoming an exchange, and there's really no reason they couldn't do that if they didn't allow users to do anything with bitcoin balances except buy games directly from Steam/Valve.

Why would you want them to add altcoins as well?

Bitcoin is the safest and best option for any service, site or merchants.
Off course. Bitcoin is the first choice any merchant considers to accept bitcoin payment. Bitcoin is the leading cryptocurrency and the intermediary between altcoins and fiat.  Its functionality, utility and technology is evolving as the time passes.

Why would you want them to add altcoins as well?

Bitcoin is the safest and best option for any service, site or merchants.

Peercoins are a pretty decent choice as an alternative, IMO. Nothing wrong with Bitcoins, but why just limit the choice to one cryptocurrency only?

I love the small block chain size of bitcoin.

Peercoin block chain size is even smaller. Wink

Because most companies will choose a service like bitpay. Do they take peercoins?

Don't think so, but a company called Holy Transaction are processing payments in a similar manner to Bitpay.

Why would they add altcoins if they already have Bitcoin.

Bitcoin is getting more and more support from around the world.

Serious companies and organisations won't choose for altcoins.

So what happens if Bitcoin should reach a hypothetical $1000000 per BTC? Would be like paying for groceries with gold ingots, a tad overkill. Not to mention the 10 minute confirmation time.

Sorry to disappoint you
But when Gabe Newell, Founder and manager od Valve was askeb about bitcoin he replied with the following:

There are two related issues: one is treating a crypto-currency as another currency type that we support and the broader issue is monetary behaviors of game economies. The first issue is more about crypto-currencies stabilizing as mediums of account.

But that was nine months ago, maybe now that microsoft points are pourchasanle with bitcoin maybe they could be considering bitcoin as a future option. Maybe.
