I installed the EtherAddressLookup extension in my browser. It has a list of phishing sites and warns you if you hit it.
This is not an advertisement, I just share information with you.

ok buddy, thank you I will try it. Previously I bookmarked MEW on my web browser (I use chrome) is this safe enough to avoid phishing webs. or do I need something again?

same here buddy i also bookmarked the official mew site and i can say that this was safe because ive been doing this for more than two years now  just before the phishing news about mew went viral   .

btw what method do you use to open your mew wallet ? i currently use private keys and i know that it isnt the safest way to open a mew wallet  . if your like me that also use private keys , then i sugest you use some kind of browser extension like meta mask  for extra protection from hackers and phishers  .

I was about to say this one, bookmark everything so that the likelihood of you getting to a phishing site is minimised. Been practicing this and so far I was able to get away from those sites, everyone should give it a try.

Private key is dangerous as well, but I was say that I used it before again, never experience hacks but I'm still very careful though.

I once got a desktop notification of a Phishing Myetherwallet site, I had to carefully cross-check the site and discussed it was a scam. Already, I bookmarked the real site on my browser to avoid any slight mistake and I do well to always check even the book market site for a possible re-direction.

Search engines should redirect to official sites for queries like well known wallets, banks, etc...

I think I have to be careful. I've lost my eth because of scamer, it's never safe from malware phishing, I prefer to use metamask quite safe for me

Never got to the phishing myetherwallet site. Whoever knows the correct address will never get caught, but newcomers in this case can also get caught. In principle, you can report this site to MEW official twitter page or email them. They think they will do everything to clean this site.

Please change the subject line says Phishing site similar to MEW. If any newbie see this they might think that MEW is the phishing and that is what you are referring here.
This is the best wallet in my experience on for having eth or tokens.
Be careful while accessing your wallet and check the url and seeing the address whether right or wrong.

thank you for sharing. If I don't see this thread maybe I will become a victim. The almost perfect appearance of the website scammer. In order to avoid this website scammer, we must double check the URL or bookmark the myetherwallet page.
yes, this is also for our convenience with friends, I often get new knowledge and help from other members in this forum. so when I experienced this incident I went on to discuss it so that no more victims were trapped by these scammers.

guys just get MyCrypto desktop app and you won't have to think about phishing sites anymore (check the github before downloading!)

yeah, that one a good solution,
because if you use MyCrypto it's just like you use the MEW
and in mycrypto, it has an app that you download so there is no way that people can phising you

but don't forget that you need to download the app from the official website
also in MyCrypto you don't need to put tokens name and decimals to add a custom token, just contract address and it automatically scans for any needful token info

Phishing myetherwallet site always appears on my search page if I search for MEW keywords. Phishers are talented when you search for keywords related to Myetherwallet, fake sites will appear first, and they have fooled you. Please pay attention to the website address and remember the exact address of MEW is https://www.myetherwallet.com/

MEW wallet is completely safe to store the Ethereum and ERC20 tokens. If you are accessed any shit site then possibilities to loose the money is high and the image shown also seems you have accessed fake site.
Please see your URL and confirm while you are accessing your wallet with Json or private key at anytime.

because if you install metamask, it will warn your for every phising website that you visited

some time ago I opened the Myetherwallet site to make a transaction, but I was directed to another tab in the browser that I used with a slightly different address but with the exact same appearance.

snip-
my advice, for important websites that you often use, it's better to be bookmarked so that you don't get stuck on phishing websites. btw thanks for your info

Many phishing sites copying the template of the wallets site and using the same kind of URL to scam the users of those wallets.

When you see the interface it will be exactly similar to the original site but you check the URL while you invest your time on accessing the wallet. Read the security measures you can see at the sign up and do it.

Sometimes danger of stealing your account information comes from applications in your browser app store. Beware of unknown opened Wi-Fi networks, because there may be also phishing trap, especially if you are using smartphone or tablet..you can just not see whole adress of MEW. Just remember, to be always reading all the reviews about the app you want to install.
