Absolutely amazing work. With the new BFI_INT flag, my 5870s are churning out work at 420-421 mHash/sec each!
I must have had twice your headache setting up the ATI Stream SDK on Linux for the first time. I'm guessing you downloaded it as a single archive from ATI's site?
Try setting the ATISTREAMSDKROOT environment variable to point to the directory where you extracted the SDK, since those compilation errors are most likely the result of the Stream compiler not being able to find the Stream libraries to link against.

Also, this document was extremely useful in getting the SDK set up. I wish I had found that before I started my install, it would have saved me a lot of trouble.

Any idea whether this would lighten the work loads on pool servers too?
I see increased number of rejected units, probably because current work is not being dropped but reported to server and rejected, happens right after long pool message
I'm not seeing any increase since I've been running it. Perhaps it is work that is submitted right before LP is checked so it's rejected by the server because of new data?
Currently Phoenix doesn't interrupt sending results to the server when new work is pushed. Those rejected shares were probably sent or in the process of being sent when the LP push was received. This does not reduce the number of accepted shares compared to other miners because the kernel starts on the new work within a fraction of a second of the long poll returning.
I know that poclbm clears its result queue when a long poll is received, so the best way to compare it to Phoenix is to look at the total accepted shares rather than the percentage.

Yes, I actually started at 600 and stepped it down to 300, but even when I put 600 in the config file amdconfig showed 300 as the bottom point. Some people have said that theirs wouldn't go all the way down to 300 without locking up.
I also hard coded the fan speed in my file instead of AUTO and turned off fan control.
EDIT - Need to learn how to install .deb packages manually. I am new to Ubuntu (knew Gentoo better - sorta)
From Terminal:
sudo apt-get install libwxbase2.8-0 libwxgtk2.8-0
sudo dpkg -i packagename.deb
I put a 120mm fan on top of the 5970 - allows me to turn down the fan to 50% and keep temps around 70
The GPU is in a 4u case so it is easy to lay the fan on it

I've had AMDOverdriveCtl for a week and just got around to trying it out. Man does it make a difference!

Search this mining section for a thread that's dedicated to lowering mem clocks. There are certain steps you need to take to get the mem clocks that low - don't worry they're not hard. I'm about to go to sleep here so I'm sorry but I can't paste a direct link to the thread - normally I would....
