Pi Network hit 5 million users. I have a fairly active mining team if anyone wanted to join. Its free to mine and uses a consensus algorith instead of POW (proof of work) mining so its done on your phone. No actual money invested as the coin is still in the BETA phase. If you download the app use the referral code Umlum. Lets get this Pi. Grin

Recently, I reinstalled the Pi network app, when I was getting some raised hope about the possibility of the coin being listed.  I just hope everything does not amount to waste of time at the end of the day.

PI network is a scam because it's application is a malware and it's too good to be true that you could only mine PI using your phone, but it would only steal your data in your phone. I also have heard that there is no recent update about the PI network, and it is why it still haven't get listed in any exchange.

It's good to see that PI have already 5 million users and I guess the team behind it need to focus on listing it in the exchange because this thing might bring more users to them or else if they don't have a plan to list this in exchange it can cause loses of users because they might get bored or lose interest on doing mining without any gain. And for me, I would rather put my time on trading than mining coin who don't have plans to get listed in an exchange.
I don't think they can focus on listings, because listings usually cost money. While this project has no money, they do not hold an ICO or IEO, as I know they get money only from google adsense which they install in the application.

Yeah, I think they are doing is more on fair distribution because they are reaching more people that don't know cryptocurrencies before. Even Bitcoins. They are gamifying the system. The more people sharing the wealth the better than just few big whales just like with other cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum.

See: Topic: PI Network! A huge trap[Warning!] ...

...snip...

Due to my own involvement with genuine Prime number related cryptocurrencies (mostly Gapcoin and my hosting of Riecoin nodes), I decided to take a closer look at the claims being made here.

...

The following people are openly and directly responsible for the Pi network project, according to this article ....

"(From left to right) Vince McPhilip M.B.A. ’18, Chengdiao Fan Ph.D. ’14 and Nicolas Kokkalis Ph.D. ’13 cofounded the cryptocurrency network Pi Network with visiting student researcher Aurélien Schiltz. (Photo: Benjamin Mattingly)"

...

NICOLAS KOKKALIS
- https://hci.stanford.edu/nicolas/

The 'official' twitter feed @PiCoreTeam does seemingly show a video associating both Nicolas Kokkalis and Chengdiao Fan with this project ...

...

The Pi Network project is clearly not yet a 'live' and/or 'functioning' cryptocurrency. It is currently unspendable.

Pi Network (IOU) (PI)

"This refers to IOU tokens. FUBT has shut down so this IOU trading is no longer happening. Main net launch of Pi Network is yet to take place."

...

This official tweet from @PiCoreTeam clearly demonstrates that the entire project is currently centralized ...

"Pi Network is currently offline. We are working to diagnose and get the app back up. Keep an eye on our status page for updates: hxxp://status.minepi.com. "

...

The Pi Network project is quite clearly designed to collect and amass a rather disturbing amount of 'users' personal information for the purposes of KYC ? etc., etc., Also, being highlighted here:

(As to why 'industry' players like changelly are supporting projects without a 'live' cryptocurrency, and perhaps to the detriment of original Prime number related cryptocurrencies (doing actual math on a blockchain) like Gapcoin and Reicoin, remains unclear to myself!)

...

"Submit your #PiPhase2 video for a chance to be included in our celebration video for Pi Day and our transition to Phase 2! All Pioneers are encouraged to participate! For submission instructions watch the video below. Retweet and mention us @PiCoreTeam so we see your post!"

....

Conclusion: I'm fairly sure that the real Satoshi Nakamoto would find this currently centralized, not-curently-a-cryptocurrency, potentially privacy infringing (mining your data ?) smart phone application to be very far removed from the concept for Bitcoin and other 'true' cryptocurrency and altcoin projects.

Therefore, I will not be 'mining' and/or signing up for this project myself. I uphold the [warning] notification provided by the OP.

Have a nice day now!  Roll Eyes

I also tried to mine this, but unfortunately it is running slow not listed on any exchange, I see much faster the same IDENA project also does not use money to mine just using a normal laptop and you can get free money from following validation and mining, you There will be more years by seeing my signature, I hope you are lucky with the Pi network, 1 more that not only Pi but IDENA also get a bonus from the invite, so you can get it for free and IDENA is already registered on the hotbit and qtrade exchanges

mining unlisted coins is as risky as investing on unlisted coins although you dont spend money on mining but youl spend electricity and cpu power of your device which also risk them from getting broke .

that idena you are talking must be nice , by the way how much money can you earn mining using a laptop ? i have a spare laptop here but never tried mining before but maybe i can consider that one if ever the rates were nice .

There are hundreds of youtube videos promoting the PI coin. I got several invitations from my friends, one I installed it and uninstalled it again. I don't find any roadmap about the listing in exchange also nothing about expected value. The team just thinks that as BTC had no value in 2008/ similarly today PI is, and one day it will have some value.  Lips sealed
They are very ambitious to make PI like BTC, a something very impossible to happen  Grin, My friends also suggested I want to join them, but I am not interested to join, Because I thought it would be a waste of time. We better focus on continue collecting bit by bit BTC.

I do not trust them. The only thing that they have is a mobile phone application. I didn´t see any blockchain explorer, any listing on exchange or anything else that is common for altcoins.  Roll Eyes

I still don't understand what pi developers are trying to prove it's been more than one year and I don't see their cryptocurrency on any exchange I don't think they really have 5 million users, they're making this kind of statements to creating more hype for their useless project which has no future at all.

I've been mining Pi on my mobile phone for almost a year now (not too sure) I have mined a 1000+ Pi coins but unfortunately the project is moving too slow on improvements of their platform and exchange listing/s.

There will always be fake numbers in crypto space because when you give a fake number that makes it a news and when you have news that could attract attention you will also get a lot more investment and traders. I do not believe that it is at 5 million users, there is no way that 5 million users would register unless there is hundreds of accounts from the same person, users must be creating multiple accounts just to make it at 5 million users.

So, I think this is total baloney, it is not something real and it is only something to gain attention, nothing more. Pi Network is not something I care about for example and I am heavily involved in crypto, neither any person I know, a thing that has 5 million users but zero from anyone I know in 7k+ telegram group sounds unlikely sorry.

I saw so many friends sending me the link. Though they are not familiar with cryptocurrency, they are inviting me. I think they have a good marketing plan. I didn't join till now but I want to know that is it really good coin or something shit coins. which is creating hype.

So, presumably this app isn't actually doing any real mathematical number crunching and isn't really related to anything Pi, aside from the logo ?

What does Pi network stand for "Personal information" harvesting network !?

Who are the supposed "Stanford PhD's" involved in this ? Anyone ?

Pi network started back in 14 March 2019. 5 million user within less than 2 years, is a big number. However, they have not yet listed their coin in exchanges for some unknown reason. 2 years of mining with no return doesn't look good and less attractive.

I too have earned few thousands of pi token from my mobile since last year but I don't know what to do with this since I can't sell those  off.
One thing i am aware of Pi Network is that they are shilling out a lot and sending mass E mail and especially in telegram and social media and it has become a nuisance and just now i saw this thread, i have no idea what they are planning to do and why they are spamming everywhere and giving out offers and i usually block and move on when some random user message me and are they providing incentives to spam random people ?.

How is the project since it looks like you trust the project installing their application.

I have gone through the research of this coin and it does show some information though it falls short of my expectations. Even though the network keeps on growing, there is no information about the said coin to be put into exchanges so that users can sell whatever they have mined on that said app. The ads put big legitimacy to their project so there you go. Until you can sell you mined coins you can simply call this an advertisement app on your mobile device.

I'm not sure about the 5 million users maybe they just change in the statistics so that many join mining on this phone, even this promotion is continuous on social media I haven't actually tried but I have a feeling that this will not develop.
This is what I also think, they buy statistics so their project has a lot of users. I'm not sure it's all real users, Maybe a bot or whatever, I don't want to know. I'm not interested to joini them, it's a waste of my time.

At first, it was interesting mining every day but at some point, I got tired of it because nothing was forthcoming. If the developers are really serious about this project then they should move forward with good listing to show how serious they are. It boring mining without ant future clearity.

I have it in my phone but it's been so many months but no updates about listing or how to claim this coin, yes they do have 5 million users according to their stat but I wonder if the number will reflect when they start doing KYC there are huge numbers of multiple users here we never know, sometimes I forgot to turn it on because it looks useless your earnings is only on papers.
