Amazon does much more, quite significant business outside retail, including what's effectively wholesale for SMBs and "producer services," definitely including AWS.Yup, plus I think retailers/merchants are what we need to push bitcoin into the mainstream and mass adoption so they very much do matter in my opinion.

BTC adoption at Amazon would be nice, but given the amount of business they do, I'm sure it would take a hige amount of research and development to effectively roll this out. They shpuld test it out amongst Amazon Prime members first or something to see how it works. They would also need to be tracking IPs (which they probably already do) since BTC is not allowed im certain countries
Amazon would most likely use an exchanger and never even receive a single BTC. They would receive fiat in USD just like if somebody in Mexico bought a book the credit card company exchanges for USD.
The exchanger would be responsible for knowing the countries currency laws.
Very good point, i agree with you.
But, even if they don't consider using Bitcoin directly, still just possibility for users that they can pay for items on Amazon using their Bitcoin funds will help a global acceptance of Bitcoin a lot.
Still a lot people don't know about Bitcoin or sitting on the fence and watching if Bitcoin will become mainstream or not.
if such ''big'' and famous company as Amazon accept Bitcoin, it will help a lot.

The last company to adopt Bitcoin is a rotten egg.
After 1 year of success and no IRS issues with their accounting I can see tons of companies adopting BTC. It's always best to let other companies be the guinea pigs if you have a reliable system in place so that you don't have to foot the bill for the legal challenges.

As much as I can see your point and understand that it probably is time that companies like Amazon followed in suit with companies like Dell is this not something that should have gone to customer support at Amazon and not on an open forum like this one?
I've always said some people should just not have access to youtube and a camera phone. Today i will go a step further and say some people should just not have access to a keyboard and the internet......
Overstock is moving towards global Bitcoin payments now they've piloted the U.S and they have no problem with Bitcoin, just go and use them instead and watch Amazon go out of business.
Who cares if they accept it. Just shop elsewhere.

No need to force this. It will happen quite organically as the bit coin economy develops.
Places like Amazon, eBay will one day be forced in to accepting BTC because it will be so main stream and not doing so will cost them millions and millions and millions a year, all we need to do is keep adopting (like we are now 
) and soon we will see it happen, we has seen articles about google and I think even ebay implementing the process, eBay has already let you list your crypto on there so I am sure it's not far away!!

In fact I have yet to see any retail adoption help the price.
It only really drives price down in the short to mid term as early adopters have an avenue to valueate their BTC.
Long term its ok though.

I am so confused was this just posted to show us what you emailed to them? Or do you think Amazon comes here to get their customer feedback?
It's encouraging others to do the same by sending them a email and discussing with their custom support about Bitcoin and word might be brought up by higher employees.

If you want Amazon to start supporting BTC, you need to get the merchants who sell through Amazon to start requesting BTC support. This would be the fastest way to get them to listen.
