I see that the  "arrows" as mentioned above have since been implemented for threads in addition to them already being there in boards

I prefer Zakir over Muhammed when mentioning me!
I knew you were changing as the forum was terrible for some minutes. IMHO the next button, post/preview button and [new] button seems okay. Can you please revert other(UI) maybe except 'unread topics, watchlist and new replies.

This is on an iPhone using safari. Prior to today it looked much more like what you would see from a computer.

Additionally for several minutes the forum looked weird accessing it from safari on a actual computer.

That sort of display is intentional. It looks terrible, but it's supposed to be easier to use.

This is what the forum has started to look like after the changes you made. This is a view from my lumia 1320, Windows 8.1(I am talking about windows phone, don't start criticizing I.E).
Earlier the view was just perfect. Earlier it used to look like as it was on PC.

What's the point of these changes? The forum looks pathetic now. Its like a nightmare. I want things to be reverted back.
Thanks

Is there a way to opt out of this display and/or tick the forum to think I am really viewing from a computer?

I don't know. It's triggered by this CSS media query:
Code:
only screen and (min-device-width: 320px) and (max-device-width: 650px)
This is what it looks like in Chrome on an iPhone (clicked on 'request desktop site' however I don't think anything changed when this happened).

This is a little better however I still like the desktop version better (even on my phone).

According to this stackoverflow question, sites have a 'view desktop site' link that saves a cookie that rejects the mobile site. I am not sure if the above responses contains enough information to implement this and I cannot vouch that implementing it would not open up some security risk.

What does everyone else think of it? If everyone hates it, I'll make it not so weird.
I personally do not mind "pinching" my screen and/or zooming to make the specific text bigger and to click on page numbers, report to moderator links, etc.. I do however understand that these features are not available on all mobile devices.

FWIW the double arrow at the end of the page numbers will lead you to the next page when browsing a specific board. To accomplish the specific request of the OP, you could make the arrows farther from the last page number and/or bigger to accommodate mobile users.

(in this case the double arrows are next to the 105, and this particular screenshot was taken from the meta board)

Exact same thing happened to me. On my iPhone, the forum looks like the above screenshot. Nice work on the arrow button though!

I've seen also the [tag] new was changed, or am I wrong?

Yes, it's large text instead of an image in the mobile stylesheet to make it easier to click.

OK, done. The previous/next arrows should also appear extra large on small devices.

I also finally figured out how to get the mobile stylesheet to actually work. It's existed for years, but it seems that very few devices triggered it. It makes everything look a lot uglier, but hopefully a little easier to use on small screens.

Let me know if you have any specific suggestions for CSS to add to the mobile stylesheet. I'm not much of a Web designer.

I can usually add extra classes/IDs to the HTML if this would be helpful in writing CSS.

This would be very useful! Thanks for suggesting here! Smiley

Would be useful but hopefully there will be some sort of mobile site with the new forum.

Where did you hear it from? Smiley Eagerly waiting for the new forum software!

Yeah, that wap version might have been ok 10 years ago but it's not up to standard with current mobile versions of forums. I think the new one should do a bit better than that.

+1.

There is already a mobile site with the current forum.

Meta board mobile site, with the feature the OP is requesting and everything.

This thread mobile site/version.

I do know about that. I know I am being a bit fussy, but I can't stand that. I always remove the wap whenever I land up there.

I agree with the OP and I think this "feature" will be extremely useful (let's see if it will be added in the new forum software).
