Pandacoin (PND) Proof of Stake FAQ released!

A highly requested document from the community, the Pandacoin (PND) development team have compiled a FAQ addressing many of the commonly asked questions in regards to PoS.

Check it out if you would like to know more about how PoS and staking works:

http://thepandacoin.org/doc/pos_faq.pdf

Can I still mine Pandacoin (PND) directly with my mining rig?

With Pandacoin (PND) as a pure PoS coin, you would not be able to mine it directly. Instead, you will mine other alternative crypto-currencies and exchange them for Pandacoin (PND) through our ever growing mhs multipool. This way, you will be able to still mine Pandacoin (PND) from the multipool, and help increase the value of Pandacoin (PND) at the same time.

How does the Pandacoin (PND) multipool work?

The Pandacoin (PND) multipool automatically switches between coins to mine based on difficulty and price variations in order to be as profitable as possible for the miners. For payout, the multipool computes the proportional share of each miner over rounds that last four hours. Once a round is complete, and after the mined blocks become mature, the multipool exchanges all coins for Pandacoin (PND). Please note that due to the time required for block maturation, deposits and withdrawals on exchanges, payouts for a round are processed one hour after the end of the next one. The multipool also apply a fee of 1.25%, in addition to the exchange and transactions fees required by the operation

Wallet version 2.0.2 is now available. Mandatory wallet update!

Wallet version 2.0.2 is a mandatory update which corrects the issues that you have experienced during the PoS switch-over. It is now available on https://github.com/pandacoin-official/pandacoin, http://thepandacoin.org and as binary.

A few things to consider before updating:

1. You NEED to back up your wallet.dat. The software will automatically do a copy but it's better to be sure.
2. The wallet will take around 10 minutes reindexing so please be patient.
3. The wallet might crash and give an error after importing (Windows 7 has been tested successfully). This is okay - just start the wallet again and you should be good to go.

The wallet is available to download under the following links:
win32 standalone|win32 setup|mac|linux|src

Pandacoin (PND) has successfully transitioned to 100% PoS from 100% PoW!

Pandacoin (PND) had begun their PoW phase since Feb 16, 2014 and has been mined for 95 days. Pandacoin (PND) is now one of the rare PoS coins with such a long PoW phase, a duration of more than 3 months, to distribute the coins fairly out towards the community.

Current PoS Difficulty: PoS Difficulty: 759.10599129

What is PoS Difficulty and why does it matter? - PoS difficulty is an indicator of how many wallets are open with many unspent transactions sitting in them. Generally, the higher the PoS difficulty, the better as it represents the amount of wallets that are open, and how secure our network is!

To find out more about PoS and how staking works, please check out our FAQ here - http://thepandacoin.org/doc/pos_faq.pdf

1/10,000 chance = 1 million PND
1/100,000 chance = 10 million PND

So join us on #PandacoinPND on freenode.net to try out the Lotto-Faucet commands !lotto !panda !gimme, have a chance of winning up to 10 million Pandacoins (PND) every 24 hours and chat with the fellow Pandas and the dev team!

The whole "Dogecoin is going under" thing is a load of rubbish, don't buy that or spread it here, most Dogecoin holders are not alt coin traders, they look at the USD price more than the BTC price. With BTC rising in value against the USD and DOGE remaining at a pretty consistent price against the USD it is obviously going look like a lose of value... but that's compared to BTC.

More to the point, a currency is measured by what you can do with it (goods and services etc.) and you can do things with dodge, the majority of altcoins all you can do is change them into bitcoin. Doge coin has already made it and people want to drive the price down to buy them up. DOGE will not go away(or die O.o) with it's active community and established base. Most coins have a shit community and still survive (mooncoin is alive, people still want CIV to relaunch O.o')

Someone said that PND was going up in price? Not compared to BTC... or are you choosing a market that has risen... say LTC? See... people pick and choose their markets then scream "ERMERGERD A CRUSH, SANK IS SHIPPING" or " YAYZ PRISE RICE".

When you are in your "everyday, outside" life(i know some may not have this at all, and to that I applaud you) do you ever think how much the FIAT currency you are spending is worth compared to other FIAT currency? I doubt it...

Main reason I posts this here is because PND seemed to me like a community that wasn't traders, that were people trying to invest in a better, fairer coin. Day traders are the scum of the earth, without producing a single thing of worth they extract worth from others through fear and manipulation, don't be these people and don't support them with negative nonsense.

I made this earlier today:

BTC/USD is up 30%, while DOGE/BTC is down 30% (I don't have a chart for DOGE/USD). It means that DOGE is less dependant of BTC now.

Just an average guy with an average job!
Considering the internet is what it is, with it's myriad of goods and services. I'd say almost everyone looks at the difference in price between fiat currencies. I for one do, since i rent servers in the US and EU and they quote USD prices so I end up having to (mostly) pay more AU in exchange for USD... Likewise with some mining hardware i've bought recently and various other internety shopping things i do... I'd imagine it's the same with everyone else.

I like what you wrote here. I also hate speculators and traders, since all they do is "extract worth from others" to make themselves richer. I also like the way you put fiat currencies in perspective. The USD may be the strongest currency and most traded out there, but that doesn't make all the other currencies useless. I believe altcurrencies are the future and the future isn't tomorrow or next week/month/year. Years from now, I believe there will be multitudes of cryptocurrencies being used and accepted by the masses, not just BTC, LTC or DOGE.

Having said that, PND is leaving the others in the dust on https://usecryptos.com/coinvoting So keep voting my fellow Pandas and we will be accepted soon.

Also, have the devs thought about approaching the World Wildlife Foundation? This coin seems like it could be a good fit for them. http://www.worldwildlife.org/

Swisscex, I haven't been able to withdraw PND from them for days! Undecided

Scratch that, looks like it's working again, except I'm not receiving the confirmation email like Slaithe   Embarrassed

got my verification email and confirmed, but some minutes have passed and haven't received PND to wallet.
looks like purely a Swisscex issue, overall.  usually Swissex is much faster with everything.  must be some maintenance or other issue.

I just got my verification e-mail, it did take a while. And I got a reply from Swisscex aswell, whoever said that these cats were quick was right. Here it is;

We are currently dealing with some issues of a few wallets. Our developers are working hard to get this problem fixed as fast as possible. We expect this problem to be solved within the next hours.
Withdrawals of the affected currencies are not possible until the wallet problem is fixed. Sending coins to the address might work but will not be shown in your account.
Please apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your trust and support.
Best regards,
Tobias

Letting everyone know that swissCEX is fixed again, here is their last e-mail to me concerning the matter;

All problems concerning deposits and withdrawals should be resolved by now. In case your problem still exists, please let us know that we can further investigate your case.
We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.

Best regards,

Tobias

Any particular reason for the sudden drop in hash power over at the multipool?

DOGE miners have been leaving, not too surprising since DOGE isn't looking good currently. PND hashrate is the same, although it definitely needs to be higher.

It doesn't make much sense actually, since the lower the price, the bigger the payouts. Oh well.

The multipool still works fine for PND, I've gotten some nice payouts from there and also with the price going up it's doing its job well Smiley
