Yes.
This is necessary, because you still secure the network, validating transactions. So it is different from mining because you don't share enormous amounts of hashpower, but by keeping the wallet on, you still contribute to the background crytpwork.

Ah ok, wish I knew this. I've been missing out on thousands of Mintcoins then by not having it open. Damn....
Bear in mind that your coins will not stake at an fixed rate for every block minted (every minute).

You put some of your coins in staking-blocks, you decide the amounts. Every block (every minute), similarly to the mining process where one miner is awarded with a block, every staking-block you put at staking will have a *probability* of generating a reward. This probability rises with the amount of coins you put to stake and with their age (how much time they stake without a reward).
But if yous take over a long time, like a year, you will get the 2,5% stake.

so with PND if I have 10,000,000 at the start of the year I'll have 10,250,000 by this time next year?

Doesn't seem like much tbh lol maybe I'm just greedy

so I have a POS mining question

I bought mintcoin awhile ago and then I loaded my wallet and unlocked it and such and for some reason when I opened it a few weeks ago my income never went up.

So if I want to POS mine my coins, do I need to keep the wallet open at all times? ie- if I want to POS pandacoin I need to leave my computer on, with the wallet open for the next 2 years sorta dealeo?

Thanks.

You haven't missed out on any.

PoS will be generated after at least 20 days holding of the coins in your wallet. You don’t need to keep the wallet open all the time. The coin-days accumulated in your wallet will not be lost. The next time when you open the wallet client, the internal miner will start automatically and if the coin holding period meet certain requirements the pos blocks will be generated based on the coin-days in your wallet.

You will need to have it open long enough to satisfy the minimum stake age.

Odd, my mintcoin was open for a week or so and I still haven't received my POS

I'm redownloading it now to doublecheck.

It looks like Earthwatch (http://pnd4pnd.com/pages/earthwatch/) and ISIS (http://pnd4pnd.com/pages/isis/) could use a little more attention.

On that note, for every unique picture of a panda posted in this thread over the next 24hrs I'll donate 10k to one of the pnd4pnd.com funds. If you want a specific fund to receive the donation, just say so.

330,000 PND total donated Wink

You guys are awesome. F**k it, for every unique picture of a panda posted in this thread until POS kicks in I'll donate 10k to one of the pnd4pnd.com funds. If you want a specific fund to receive the donation, just say so.

Please quote this so everyone knows the donations are ongoing, and please consider donating even more!

The Daily Panda

Proof of Stake Wallet version 2.0.0 is now available! Update your wallet to prepare for the PoS rollout!

Wallet version 2.0.0 is now available on https://github.com/pandacoin-official/pandacoin and as binary.

A few things to consider before updating:

1. You NEED to back up your wallet.dat. The software will automatically do a copy but it's better to be sure.
2. The wallet will take around 10 minutes reindexing so please be patient.
3. The wallet might crash and give an error after importing (Windows 7 has been tested successfully). This is okay - just start the wallet again and you should be good to go.

The wallet is available to download under the following links:
win32 standalone|win32 setup|mac|linux|src

PoS begins from block #136113. There are 138,489,268 PND left to mine before PoS implementation! Download our new Pandacoin (PND) wallet so that you would be ready for the PoS rollout!

Pandacoin (PND) added on Coinpayments!

Pandacoin (PND) has been added towards Coinpayments.net list of supported coins - https://www.coinpayments.net/supported-coins

We are another step closer towards the dev team's vision of having Pandacoin (PND) being used as a widely accepted unit of exchange. This is just the beginning!

PND4PND.com - Pandacoin's (PND) first charity initiative!

So far over 11.1 million Pandacoins (PND) have been donated to http://pnd4pnd.com! It is a unique concept in that all donations made now will be held and only released to the chosen charity organisations on June 1st, 2015.

The charity wallet will be on a transparent and public address, managed by the Pandacoin (PND) development team.

How much do you think the total donation wallet will be worth in a years time? 100k USD? 500k USD? 1 million USD?

Read more about it and the chosen charity organisations here: http://pnd4pnd.com
