For one, people only like Go because there's pokemon. Secondly, the idea of getting paid will turn people into monsters. They won't play the game for fun, but for money. They may even bot for money. Also having variable locations is super hard, not to mention the manpower it will take to mark down every location.

Bad idea.

Do you want to create a "Pokemon" game? You would need to get the trademark and many other things. Your game won't be as popular as Pokemon GO right now.

I would think about creating a game with a whole new idea involving bitcoin.

What would stop people from creating multiple addresses on multiple VPNs from taking all the BTC available at that location?

Some part of this might also have to be allievated by simply making it very onerous for small reward.  Imagine that in principle it's possible, but say that you're dealing with hundreds of satoshis per, well, that's a lot of work to cheat for fractions of a cent.

Well we have seen many people draining faucets with very sophisticated bots and these small rewards did not stop them. One bot can create havoc and it is virtually unstoppable, if it is done right. I ran a faucet for a while and these bots cleaned my pool very quickly.

You would need someone to check this 24/7 and to react very quickly, when something like this hits them. ^sad^

I may write code in exchange for bitcoins.

That's the point of the Facebook link. I would probably use something like amount of friends (and friends of friends) to pop up some alerts at the system admin level. I created a MUD back in the 90s that only allowed one character per person and I have a lot of experience stamping out duplicate users abusing the system.

This "pokemon go" thing is a goddamn madness. I can't stop playing it. I even play while i drive. I collect pokeballs and even catch pokemons while i drive my car. Complete madness.

Sad thing is, you can't oversuccess (can't even come close) pokemon by replicating another shitty app which use bitcoins. You may only have a chance if you somehow offer "sex" to your users. pokemon is downloaded more than tinder did in 5 years btw.

Pokemon is magic.

Please don't.

that's good idea, just for information geocoin use geo system for share free geocoin, i think you can use that's system, but need more improvement.

simple concept for "bitkemon go (bitcoinpokemon)" you can sell your pokemon to bitcoin, you can buy pokemon with bitcoin.

Location based games are the new hype or is this all because of Pokémon. Think it will be hard to developing such game if you don't know if it will get any succes also other games didn't had any long lifetime if they were Bitcoin related. Also mostly the games who pay in bitcoins didn't manage to keep people paying that mostly cause since Google started Bitcoin related websites/games banning there Adsense account.

Why do you want to link identities to Bitcoin, because this would exclude a lot of people who would rather want to play this anonymously? I know it would be a great marketing tool to target specific individuals, but I still think Bitcoin Apps should protect people's privacy. You could still link people's phone numbers with the App, if you want to trace cheaters, but that should only be privileged information that should only be accessible to the game developer.

Let's not offer up our financial privacy, like people had to do with Ripple in the beginning. It will restrict your potential market. ^smile^

That's where the money comes from to get the money to the users. Business owners and contributors will likely want a certain demographic.

I don't necessarily want any names, just demographics that attract contributors to give away bitcoins.

Imagine a huge political rally happening in one location and someone puts out some bitcoins for all people who are libertarian leaning (based upon their Facebook likes and shares).

Or a new band with a certain style trying to get people to come watch them attracting people who enjoy their type of music.

Someone giving a presentation on home fire alarms might want to attract home owners.

Plus using Facebook, considering the distribution will be limited to a per person basis you can more easily weed out people who created a new account and only have a few fake friends. And you can give the option of posting on the person's wall "Jim Smith just made 50 millibitcoins on Bitcoin Chaser. Want to make bitcoins too? Click here.".

I think I'll take a crack at this.

In the most simple terms I will focus on:
Facebook login (which comes with user information such as age, gender, # of friends, etc.)
GPS location of the user.
GPS location of the contributor along with guidelines such as demographics of users desired, amount of bitcoins available, max amount per user, time window and radius. This part will sit on the server.
Collection system for contributors to the server.
Distribution system from the server to the users.

Initially the screen will simply be a beacon type of GUI showing distance/direction to the nearest distribution point along with information on the amount. Maybe just a countdown with a "mining" gif once you are within the radius. Something where you can put your phone away and wait for it to "mine" your bitcoins so you can actually socialize/shop/order a meal/etc. without needing to keep your eyes on your phone like with Pokemon.

I could likely do something that simple then expand from there.

Pokemon go itself is a revolutionary idea itself really, if a dev can add some features taht we could earn bitcoin i will definitely play it all day. Maybe even forget bitcointalk.org for it if we really need to get out on the streets to catch pokemons Smiley

Now that I think about it, the fact that it would be just like attracting signature campaigners on here is actually attractive from a business standpoint. They are like zombies on here, posting senselessly coming from everywhere for their tiny bits of satoshis. No reason the same can't be done in the real world with real world zombies.
The difference being on here search engines see the links getting posted over and over again and up the sites search results. Having a bunch of mindless people looking for a few cents at your business isn't a great idea, they are only there to get those few cents you are offering, why would they want to spend more at your place of business?

Someone has already found code in pokemon go that shows McDonalds and its thought that Niantic will change pokestops to advertisers places of business to get more people to congregate around them, and those people would be coming to just play a game, not as beggars.

@Elwar, Pokemon go and Ingress were made by the same company, most of the gyms and pokestops are portals from Ingress.

I had the same idea.   I decided I would rather make a simple text based android game that pays like RPG style... Find treasure, sell to merchant, create an economy...

I already have a bitcoin app that is paying people to watch video game streams from Twitch.tv (search Google Play for Twitch Potato or visit http://twitchpotato.com)  it is passive income, no clicking required, no captcha.  It is a 100% revenue split based on your contribution %

I have some Bitcoin investments that are paying into the fund and if you would want to create an app, get ahold of me via the contact info on TwitchPotato or here.

The thing about Role Playing Games is ,the only way to make money is through the game stores or inbuilt shops to buy upgrades. To keep the game more fair, one shouldn't be allowed to buy everything in a day.Like,if a guy makes a new account he can buy as much as updates with bitcoins and level up more than the guy who has been playing the game since 1 month.People lose interest. Now apply the same concept in your proposal, people will a lot of bitcoins would definitely enjoy it while others would still be struggling to find something cheap.

What if there was an app type of game where instead of just getting points for going places and killing monsters, you go to places to kill monsters and get bitcoins?

Or a nightclub instead of ladies night putting some bitcoins inside the club to attract 21-25 y/o females. Even some rich guy could drop some near him to get the ladies to come over.

A strip club that puts some bitcoins attracting males with good finances to come in.

I love this one! because all the gold digger chicks will be in the same place the same time ,showing of to each other who is the hottest and all this for the eye of the guy who will drop some btc around!!  Grin

Now i dont know about the strip club if he will attract rich males, because they will be after the btc profit and not the stripper  Grin
but any how its a very nice idea that need work and i can see it coming an alt coin with such use..mark my words   Cool
