Epic sleazy wildcard from MtGox!   Cheesy

Who could have seen it coming?

Between me and my speculation brethren, I just wish moving fiat into an exchange (or to anywhere else for that matter) wasn't so bloody sloooow... fortunately it seems things will continue to tank well into the week. The MtGox FUD came at a time of technical weakness, not all is GOX. It may have rushed some of the people that would have been part of the "future capitulation" earlier in time though... In mature markets some of those crazy orders would not have happened, but not here. Hard to predict how the week will play out now.

Well, I've closed the poll.

I guess I got it wrong: I didn't have the option "Announcement is made but Gox blames it all on BTC".

Stay safe in the market. Smiley

No announcement will be made. Gox will implement Litecoin before it fixes this "glitch". How the hell are they second in command of the Bitcoin Foundation (gold member!)Huh If any of the rumors are true and Gox is corrupt running some kind of fractional reserve in the past this will be really bad for Bitcoin as a whole. The media will have a laugh about the superiority of Bitcoin as compared to banks, ponzis, and bank runs. And it will make fun of the Bitcoin foundation and "spokespersons" like Karpeles, Amir Taaki (responsible for leaking bitcoinica source code and making possible another hack on the platform, and others.

well shit !!! my money and bitcoins are gone......

I expect maybe on Wednesday Mt Gox announces that withdrawals are still halted till day when they solve technical problems.
And meanwhile Mark and his suite sells all their properties in Japan, pack suitcases with hard cold cash and fly somewhere to Ecuador or place where they can disappear quietly.  Grin Grin Grin
They will announce we are sorry we said it in advance that bitcoin is very risky it was you who decide to send us your money despite all what we told you.
Bitcoin slumps down to $100 again and than they will buy it all with our hard cold cash.   Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked
Hope Mark gets heart attack and die before he spents all our money....

Whoever withholds the bitcoins of another user is nothing but a thief. But also, bitcoins were never meant to be kept in 'exchanges' but in one's wallet, so user's are at fault also.

You heard it here first, Mark made a shitload of money (I mean, BTC) on other's people stupidity (including me) in form of fees. All in exchange for a shitty service.

Bitcoin will move to new paradigms just if exchanges will be no longer be used.

Gox is fukt and it's priced in. Jesus, I pulled my coins out when the premium got above 10%. Price signals mean something. Mark is fat and that means something too. There is a reason why "fat and lazy" is a stereotype.  Mark's incompetence has crashed the entire market three times. There will not be a fourth.

Indeed...people will convert their mt gox fiat to BTC; just to be able to withdraw easily in BTC -> price spike

...on Gox. Doesn't take too long to transfer BTC to other exchanges and dump them there. There have to be enough buyers for the folks cashing out their coins happy to have gotten them out.

Anyway I'm pretty sure they'll announce something along the lines of "making progress, not quite there yet, new update soon"
Which would be pretty bad, I mean, it's hard to believe that any problem such as this could not be fixed by a bunch of skilled programmers in a very reasonable amount of time (not a week or weeks)

Now since when has mtgox been known for making timely responses to the public? You guys are really expecting something right away on Monday? I'm surprised there aren't more votes for the last option.

I can see your point, a lot of people are expecting something tomorrow, like you I wouldn't be surprised if we hear nothing.

Either no update at all or another lame excuse. Can't believe this amateurish shop remained the number one BTC exchange for so long. Just goes to show how crap the BTC infrastructure is.

No outcome will be bullish, that is for sure.

if they resume BTC withdrawals again, price will jump to bitstamp+200 in minutes... there is massive USD on gox.

If they restart their withdrawals I reckon arbitrage will be big!

Where has the announcement been mentioned?

Its just I haven't seen it!

https://support.mtgox.com/entries/26130949-Statement-Regarding-BTC-Withdrawal-Delays-UPDATE

I voted for Mark has done a runner.  I genuinely think the odds of this are better than evens.

Thanks for that, interesting!

It is probably Mark has done a runner or they need a little more time to fix the 'technical problem'

We will wait with interest!
