This poll is a big waste of everybody's time.
Can you please ban Ripple's forks too if you're gonna ban Ripple ?

Thanx https://ripple.com/wiki/Forks

Change your vote now due to your obvious lack of intelligence. Do you think every alt currency that uses the name 'coin' in their name is associated with the dying monetary system because they can't come up with anything new or innovative, so they use the bit'coin' standard in their labeling?

Just because Ripple's exchange is built-in and it doesn't follow the usual Bitcoin clone path, you deem it inappropriate. You wouldn't know what to do if innovation slapped you in the face.

Fool.

lol innovation

my ass is more innovative than a centralized, corporate owned anything. also, lrn2respect opinions without calling people names.

Ripple should be listed. it's decentralized and open source. XRP can be spent freely without central authority.

Besides, could you explain to a fool how a centralized coin is supposed to be something new ?

Ripple is not centralized. You can see this for yourself in the source code. Start with the PeerFinder code's Readme and go from there.

If you aren't a programmer, just peruse the PeerFinder Readme and skip the source. Just that little bit of exposure to Ripple's P2P plumbing should convince an open minded person that the system is not centralized.

I see it as an exchange system, not as a coin. So my answer would be no.

People are a little tense, here.  Roll Eyes

I don't see anything that Bitcoin could not do, in Ripple or any other alt by the way.
You can have colored coins and decentralized exchanges over the Bitcoin protocol.

Besides, could you explain to a fool how a centralized coin is supposed to be something new ?

1) Is it a coin that can be spent freely?
2) Is it decentralised and anonymous?
3) Is the code open source?

1. mostly yes, besides reserve requirements which are at the time of writing 20 xrp for every account and 5 xrp for every transaction that has to be stored on the current ledger (the latter is variable, once e.g. an offer is filled there needs to be no more reserve for that one) xrp can be spent freely between users with no central control from 3rd parties.

2. Initial money distribution of xrp is not decentralized, money transfer however is and like any coin that is listed there so far ripple too is not anonymous, only pseudonymous.

3. 'The code' is a bit vague, but still: anything you need to run a client or a full node is available as free and open source software.

Yes, it should be added.  Ripple and XRP will bring a lot of benefit to the Bitcoin community.  It is an easy point of entry into the cryptocurrency ecosystem via gateways like Snapswap, Peercover, etc.

Needs to pass the Crypto Sniff Test:

1) Is it a coin that can be spent freely?
2) Is it decentralised and anonymous?
3) Is the code open source?

If YES to all three, then it is a bonafide crypto currency that can be traded freely. If NO to any, then its not a crypto currency.
KISS principle.

Bitcoin itself fails 2) it's neither decentralized (2 - 3 major pools control 51%+ of all hash power) nor actually anonymous by default.

XRP is already the defacto #3 crypto-currency behind BTC and LTC, and a runner up with extremely strong fundamentals.
It's a question of credibility for CoinMarketCap.com to list it.
Taking a side in vain church fights doesn't do any good to your business.
If you need an example of a business who is doing awesomely well in spite of showing full support to Ripple from day one, look at Bitstamp.

In Crypto I trust.
The XRP rate is only relevant within the Ripple network so I'm unsure.  The currency not meant to directly buy goods and services.
