what is the use of the sentence if he would have 10 years time to pay back the victims, as Cryptogreatdane mentioned, if he takes his life in this time (which is not to be excluded with his personality/illness/addiction) - then nobody would have anything of it Roll Eyes

and not to offend Cryptogreatdane - he has chosen option c, because he is most likely not affected by the ck-scam and therefore has not lost any money - please correct me, if this is not so Wink
what i want to say is that most victims would rather choose the first two options and option c is more likely to be chosen by users who only think about the punishment/justice of Patrick and therefore don't have to record a loss...

I choose C. After reading everyone's thoughts I think Hiring a lawyer in France could serve 2 purposes. The first is civil litigation to hopefully get a judgement against him. He can take the next 10 years to pay it back. I don't care how long it takes as long as we get the judgement. Second, it may help with criminal prosecution to have someone on the ground in France.
This option is important to hopefully deter people from doing this in the future. If people know were fighters and not going to lay down and take it. They may think twice before scamming the collectables page.

Just find or pay someone who can speak fluent french to call the local police in Rouen FR. I have his address, his last phone number and I know he's broke as hell... So yeah suing him is pointless.

Jail sounds better. he's a real pussy anyhow, he couldn't even stand 1 hour where I live in the USA FFS, he has it so nice in Rouen... Roll Eyes

Edit - I have tried to do this, but nobody wants to be involved whom I know that speaks Francais.... Tongue

I’m a little surprised that so many people want to see revenge instead of a payout.

Seems more about accountability than revenge

As was mentioned earlier though, voting should probably be done by the effected users only. Still, I don’t think people like myself that weren’t involved should be selecting the outcome for effected users.
Agree with this and also YodasRR concerns

I think the best way is to sue yogg via the legal way!

Of course internet trolls will vote for anything that is negative like spending money on lawyers to go after someone who, let’s face it, probably doesn’t have a dollar to his name if he went through these lengths to destroy his reputation. Still, I don’t think people like myself that weren’t involved should be selecting the outcome for effected users.

i have to agree with Yoda. the linked post from krogoth only talks about option a & b
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.62010051

and as bitbollo already wrote, the whole thing is still not safe if you would call a lawyer (the costs would shoot up for sure)
so we would certainly make some victims happier through the charity auction in any case

just my 2 sats

ok option C can be an option suitable, but before proceeding I would carefully evaluate the costs and timing for such an action.
I speak from personal experience, but anyone dealing with a lawyer can confirm, the fees are very high literally for "everything" and if in the end it turns out "nothing, lieutenant" there is the risk that they will give him "a roll on the ears" and nothing more...
in the meantime a lot of time and money has been wasted....

Agreed, this option doesn't plausibly give anyone satisfaction.  The charity auctions were for the victims.  This option gets thrown in last second before poll was created to skew the voting.

Were the auctions entitled : "Charity auctions for the pointless prosecution in a foreign country of a scammer with bitcoins to be possibly exchanged for fiat to unknown lawyer who will like just scam us too"?

No they fuckin weren't!

Ok, I'm done again.

Keep what's important, and know who's your friend

I like the idea of option C, but you're right, going after him in order to hold him accountable for the funds he stole in trying to sue him, isn't going to go anywhere.  I've had renters take off without paying the final months rent and stuff like that..and spoken with lawyers about how to go after them , and they've all simply told me it would unfortunately be a waste of money since I knew they likely didn't have any.

I do think going after him legally, as in being arrested/spending time in jail, and potentially being prosecuted by whatever governing body who would do such a thing where he lives in France would be a good thing.  You wouldn't have to spend any money of course for this option too. Trying to get governments to act of course is the potential hold up here (we all know how true this can be with the Titan mess going on).

I suppose I'm going with options B as well.

Yeah, I mean idk who would want to take on the responsibility of keeping track of a lawyer and a (probably) never ending legal battle...  I honestly have no say in this matter, as I've only lost premiums on a few cards I had, and had the ability to sweep the ones that were loaded before he got to them.

No point in C since as I said someplace else, there is no point in suing poor people. How much can you really going to get from a dug addicted gambler?

-DAve

I do not want to start a discussion here, so please do not take this post as opportunity to discuss "punishment", however, my understanding on option C is rather a criminal proceeding (resulting in imprisonment what in my jurisdiction is a penalty for theft) than a tort litigation. from yogg, we will never see a single satoshi again.

and now, back to the poll

What’s the old saying, you can’t squeeze wine from a stone, or something like that.

Never bought any of Yogg’s products but have been watching things unfold. Very disappointing to learn of his actions. As for the vote, perhaps it’s best to leave inputs solely up to those who have been affected?

You should edit "Pay back swept people who refused Cygan's BTC" and change it to "Pay back swept people who refused Cygan's BTC and want to get some form of refund."

I got burned, I knew the risks, not of this specifically, but of buying anything with a private key that was not generated by me.

With that being said, option B works for me.

The Stone the masons rejected was the cornerstone.
C, but maybe someone needs some funds too.

Please click on the button on the very top with your choice...thanks!

oops. didn't see it up there. Made my vote. It won't let me delete comment till tomorrow. Should only cost like $1500.00 to legally prosecute him though.

No idea what the cost of a lawyer is in France. Perhaps a French guy on the forum can enlighten us

I refuse to click on any of those options...  here's my vote instead because this is what B was supposed to look like....

Pay back swept people who refused Cygan's BTC and also anyone who sent BTC to SKamKey raffle .
Pay back BTC to go to people who ordered cards and never received.
Pay back what the original purchase price of any card owner from the past

*Only cards swept before warning, right after they received warning to peel or before a member got their hands on their cards to peel*  *If you kept bits on the cards after warning, it's allll on you!*

Anyone that qualifies for those gets a share & the pot gets divided by that many shares... something like that.
