having been in internet marketing and such for the past 20 years i was new to alt coins even though i have known about bitcoin all along...just never decided to get in....when i began my research one coin stood out:  goldcoin.....simply based on the name alone...that was the one i decided to begin mining....this list will always be skewed by peoples hopes that the coin they are heavily vested in will be the one that takes off...so its very hard to get an unbiased guage...but from my own experience and the circle of people i have been talking to...all fingers pointed to goldcoin on the list i showed....sometimes name is all you need.
In a perfect world a name is all you need. I was also first drawn to Goldcoin. But there are some serious issues going on right now with the coin. The guy running the project likes to delete peoples posts in the GLD forum. Half the time you mine it your coins will disappear from your wallet when they decide they need to "fork the chain "again." Plus it had one of the largest pre mines around.

1) WorldCoin because of the projects and WorldCoin Foundation behind the coin
2) GoldCoin - some really good improvements and let's face it best name of all altcoins
3) PrimeCoin because it's here long time already, diff is getting crazy high and price is still low

I just asked my girlfriend (not tech savvy in the slightest) to pick her favorite alt coin based upon the coins name & logo image.  I showed them to her one by one. Here eyes lit up and she yelled "That one!" when Doge came on the screen.... much fucked.

If this coin escapes from alt coin purgatory to the real world, I can see it now. Women all over the world with their fufu dogs walking down the street to go shopping with their "Doge."

Someone please make a real coin that's marketable toward women! lol!

We are talking about the most growth - so percentage of growth, not the conversion rate towards BTC I assume.
I don't quite get a lot of the votes so far, but I guess it is down to people trying to be manipulative.

Assuming that crypto currencies really take off in terms that we really buy things with them, I would put my money on PeerCoin due to their good concept.

If we have another year like 2013, I am trending towards DevCoin. I like their concept, the ease of being able to receive contribution points by writing is very attractive as well and it is cheap currently. I can see it hit 0.01 BTC mid term, which would already be an enormous growth rate.

Voted for Deutsche Emark (DEM). Peercoin clone and will attract attention from Germans all over the world. Most likely to go up steep as they have the money, so might be a big pump early next year.
Not sure about the long term of localised cryptos, there seem to be a lot of those lately.

I'm a bit more conservative and betting on:

1. Peercoin (assuming it is decentralised, stable coin and like the proof of stake minting not being a miner)
2. Worldcoin (because of their name and some interesting related projects)
3. Litecoin (stable coin)

Megacoin has a nice client, but to many pumpers and not many people investing.
Same with Quarks and the likes, no long-term future, but might make some quick wins in the short term.
