Just sent 5 BTE as a little thank-you to all miners participating. Looking forward for the first block to be solved.
How often do the payouts happen?
Payout should happen after a found block – which did not happen yet. Please note that I just set this up today, so I can't exactly tell you how it will work out until we find the first block.
How much would I have earned here?
I'm sorry that it did not work out for you, I'm still trying to figure out what's the problem here.

I hope it is. I currently says 594MH/s
EDIT: I'ts at 1.12GH/s now, stats seem to be a bit delayed.

Small update: it seems GUIMiner is working for some people – and not working for others (sorry strunberg, I did not find any solution for you yet).
Please just check if you see your payout address in the list. It should be there right after your first accepted share.
If it is not, then something is not working.

It's up now.
I think it's still not working. At your hashrate we would see an immediate spike of shares. 
Add -v -w 128 for a start to extra flags...jeeeeeez..... kidding.

EC2 is great to put a thing quickly. It might get expensive if you have to scale, but at the moment I'm just fiddling around for fun.
Even so... last time I checked running a server 24/7 for a month would cost at least $50. Be sure to check your statement and pricing before you get an unpleasant surprise next month. I think your pools are a scam.

Looks like you are running p2pool as well. Can you detail what you did to make GUIMiner work?
To be honest: I don't know. I just set up Ubuntu 12.04 on EC2, cloned your github and openend ports. I connected from 2 different computers to test and my GUIMiner workers immediately showed up in the list. So I guess it's port related??

Important Note: GUIMiner is working for me, but there have been problems reported using GUIMiner, so please be sure to test before mining too long.
