Yeah there's a ton of garbage being posted in off topic lately. I suspect it's paid sig spammers giving themselves threads to reply to.

I've suggested posts in off topic shouldn't count towards post count.

Hmm, not sure if the people behind the bots are from the paid sigs or not, but a lot obviously just jump at the chance to post something in a nonsense thread as soon as it's posted. Maybe having certain boards that don't affect your post count would cut the down the spam a bit, but I think it'd also just move a lot of it to somewhere else and we'll then see stupid discussions in the politics section or whatever.

I think we should disable the postcount feature entirely, don't you think ? We have activity , that should suffice.

I see brand new users with 1 post come on post a question and log off right after. I'm sure it's spam. But at least some of the questions being posted are interesting. Could be worse like Advertising or some crap.

Sometimes the threads have turned into interesting discussions but the bots themselves should be banned. They're quite easy to spot now though. Basically any newb who signs up and his first post is to try instigate a random discussion is more than likely a bot haha.

Think this is another one but can't find where he copied from:

I've always loved computers since I was little. I have slowly taught myself the tricks and trade but have no strong foundation. I have built my own computer and am saving up for a new build this summer with my new job. My school is offering some basic classes related to this subject, and I'm taking an AP computer science class next year, but I wish to have a better foundation. Could anyone recommend a great tool, place, website...anything programming/computer related.
Thanks, Fishy

Seems we're getting some spambots copy and pasting threads from reddit:

https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/ballred-324100

And the users smalltwo and littlethree.

Here's another one: https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/demon5858-188125

A lot of their posts are copy/pastes and they post the exact same replies in multiple threads.

Thanks, banned.

This was a very bad idea.  People don't need to "guess" a brainwallet.  Instead, they write computer programs that model human behavior and then generate all possible brainwallets that match a set of likely behaviors.  Depending on where and how you created the brainwallet, it is also possible that the brainwallet creating program stored a history of the brainwallets that it created so that the author of the program could steal the bitcoins at a future date.
I thought this was a really bad notion. Folks have no need to "guess" the brainwallet. Alternatively, they write computer system plans in which style people habits and create almost all possible brainwallets in which fit a couple of most likely conducts. According to where by and how we created this brainwallet, it is usually possible that the brainwallet making method stashed a brief history in the brainwallets so it created so your creator in the method might rob this bitcoins at the future date.

This is not getting Bitcoins for free.  It is a trade of something of value for Bitcoins.  Not free.  Maybe you don't know what "free" means or maybe I don't understand what you mean by "free".
This isn't obtaining Bitcoins free of charge. It is just a deal of some thing of worth for Bitcoins. Not totally free. Maybe you have no idea what "free" means or even My partner and i miss what you necessarily mean simply by "free".

Looks like the bot has learned some paraphrasing skill. Cheesy

It seems a mod has read your report and nuked that account. Cheesy

It won't be long, in the future it will be very hard to distinguish them from real users. There are evolving. The rise of the bots are coming.  Smiley

even if it happens you don't need to go back 5years..! just note down the winners of all the games played today..! or try to get the marketting charts with you and than just go 1or2days behind.. if you want to time travel for money, atleast this is my plan ..!

I caught another one: https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/yanhongcheng-297218

In a few of his replies he's only copying part of the post instead of the whole thing. These spammers are a crafty bunch lol.
