Just using ~100$ USD wire mesh racks.

This is only one rack out of 3.

Wow, thats beautiful.

Can you take a picture of what you have the motherboards mounted on and also of the power strips you have mounted ?
Also a closeup of how you mounted the cards ?

It looks really clean. Are you running them on 240 ? 5 cards each. How big of a P/S ?

those look the same as those that were posted by stein or amph, are you the one behind those open frame? or different person? because in your site they are more expensive
Look the same?  Not even close.   Roll Eyes   More expensive?  About the same price, ~$100 USD.   Tongue

I got the one you sent me a while ago, but then i got too busy to build more rigs. Its on my todo list to assemble it, now, lol.

I've been very fortunate to be able to continue to build these open air frames for GPU mining.   Grin

Im not in the rig building business but I can understand for commercial deployment the metal rigs and it makes it easy for them to snap in their parts and stack em.  Schedule 80 pvc is thick as hell or hdpe would give anyone enough strength and you can always add in cross members to make it more sturdy.  But if someone is really paranoid steel pipe works and if someone breaks in or zombies attack you can beat them to death with a left over piece.  Cheesy

You can build a really skookum frame with PVC from the hardware store and it will only cost you about 20 bucks and be a lot less work.  I think some people are over engineering these all metal frames... cutting apart PC cases...Come on!

Ill post a short build log when I build my pvc frame, some parts are in the mail.  Basically all you need is pvc, fittings, piece of wood for psu and mobo, and standoffs , I bought a 180 piece set for $4 on ebay.  Good visual imagination also required   Grin

Whatever you do, do NOT ship a rig made from PVC, it will not hold up. If you have no intention of shipping a rig...which is something I do a few times a month....you can fly with whatever makes you happy and keeps your cost per hash down.

Edit: FWIW using a custom frame like the aluminum Kada or it's many clones allow a larger operation to push or pull a rig from a shelf and put it on a bench super easily. It's the reason I went this route, it costs more, but for ease of maintenance, shipping and build out it makes my life easy.

Yeah something like that however the neighbours can probably see all that so I am looking for something a little more private.

Something to exhaust the heat thru a vent hose.

So using my frame built out of the wire shelf;
http://i.imgur.com/JFpq8xT.jpg?1

I put it against the wall and i'm pushing the hot air toward the window. Here is a rough idea for that setup which is effectively the same as mine;
http://i.imgur.com/0CJG9Q3.png?1

12kW to 6.6kW

Yellow is temporary "wall" personally i'm using acoustic panels where i can. Green is the GPU area which would be one wire shelf with multiple levels. Arrow is airflow. The opening is ideally a huge window that fit 20" fans or bigger or a doorway. Mine fit 18"*44* so i'm good for two boxfan and i'm dumping upward of 10kW outside.

From the outside you see 2 box fan and thats it.

That photo that you drew, it is suppose to be rotated ? Because it looks like you have a window ceiling. Or I'm I looking at it differently.

Standard layout and point of view of blueprint. I mean the way you draw a layout on a blueprint is from bird's eye perspective, top down.

What are the gpu's that you have to hit 12kW ?

I believe you would only reach that much with GPUs such as 280x or 290/390.

Yeah that's the only frame they sell. I think the op's is better. When I start building, I think i will get a couple of his rigs. All set up and just put in the cards.
Although they do seem a bit on the expensive side. I mean you can buy a Lian Li case for less than that.

Here is a thread on building your own case like the op's
Come's out to 99$, alot of work and that doesn't include the risers.

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/guide-make-your-own-open-frame-rig-29729

This is a cheaper way to do it. Cost 9$ plus the risers
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cscm8blV40c

All good reference points. The top case, just wont work for more than a couple of cards. The second DIY open air frame is similar to what I build, minus the risers and I also supply the mobo mounting plate. It's made form MDF board and has 3 mm standoffs for an ATX form factor board. The third option (el cheapo) is just horrible as air flow is an important part of the mining process to keep your cards cool. Cool cards = longer life and the staples stackable file boxes do not allow for proper air circulation, I tried them, no bueno.

there is someone selling your open frame for 175 euro on ebay with free shipping because he is in euro zone, it may be a good price, i would have bought it if needed(i don't need it now waiting for new gpu to plan the next build if necessary)

but a little discout for 150 euro would have been better for my taste...

Buy that one for $175 Euro. That's like $197.89 USD. Pretty close to what I am selling my frames for at $199. I could swing free shipping in the US, definitely not to Euro zone.

i was talking only about the open frame, i like to build the rig myself, but not the open frame

Ah here is just the frame in English
https://www.ethereumminer.eu/product/Cases-*-Frames/ETHEH-BEHUIZ-SIMPLEXX/The-SimpleXX-Stacker-open-frame-case.html

you mean this https://www.ethereumminer.eu/cat/PARTS/614/Cases-*-Frames.html?

it would be better with a base like the other posted, and without the second slot for the second psu, i don't need that, and btw how much is the space between gpu for that case?

if you can build something as clean as the one posted it would be good, i may be itnerested in the near future with the enw gpu, need to check the profitability before

if you ship in europe aand the cost is around 100 or 150 with allt he riser it may eb a good deal, i like prebuild stuff i don't want to waste time doing it myself, the fun port for me is the mining itself :S
