The checkpoints in the source code are still from Litecoin. Careful this will create several forks on the network of the same PotreroCoin.

Hey Guys,
You who try to install nodes.

Are you fully aware of what you are about to do? I would really like to know what motivates you to try installing a portfolio for a project about which there is no information. It is interesting that the project developers were able to develop a windows wallet with all its complexities and failed to build a simple website that illustrates the vision of the project.

The project does not provide any visibility on any of the channels, including this announcements here, and the representative of the project is not active at all and is very stingy in answering all questions.

You are right to feel this way. Potrero has been released rather in stealth mode while its developers are ironing out the bugs, however,
the website you're talking about is up and running, check it out at https://potrerocoin.org
Potrero is not yet on Discord but community support is being provided on the following Freenet IRC channels: #potrero, #potrero-mining, #potrero-dev. Feel free to drop by https://webchat.freenode.net
Your feedback, as long as it's constructive and not trolling, is important to developing the Potrero network.
Follow @PotreroCoin on Twitter for upcoming announcements.

Thank you for your interest and quick answer.
I have checked the site and reviewed its contents carefully.
Excuse me if I am not interested in the wallets you are developing as much as I am interested in seeing the project vision. So it attracts my attention this introduction:
Welcome to Potrero, the revolutionary cryptocurrency that is changing the way we transact and store value online. With its advanced technology and secure blockchain network, Potrero offers a seamless and decentralized financial experience for everyone.

I mean, what do you offer as solutions through this concept? There are thousands of projects that offer solutions to the same problem (if we really consider it a problem), including Bitcoin itself, which offers the best, fastest, and safest way for electronic transactions.

Using a "revolutionary cryptocurrency" concept also raises many questions since the market is full of projects offering the same solutions. The question is also why you chose to establish an independent network, when smart contract technology could be relied on one of the trusted networks, such as Ethereum, for example.

yup! not the dev, he's running the official Potrero mining pool, so it should be the right chain

Sorry it's a no go for me too. He's been solo mining for too long. It's not worth it anymore  Sad

well, it works for me while the difficulty is still low. the mining hardware I have is not great

Thank you for the update, but you still not have given us any nodes to connect! Grin

I'm not sure I understand what you mean. Your wallet should sync automatically. If that doesn't work for various reasons you can always connect manually to a good node via Debug > Console by typing:
Code:
addnode "34.127.37.138" onetry
which IP belongs to the official Potrero mining pool (pool.potrerocoin.com - ping it to make sure).
There may be a better way to do it, I don't know, but anyway, it's how got my wallet to work.
Cheers!

You stated above that you synced to your buddy with that ip, I wouldn't know if your buddy was in the right chain or a fork from it. So your buddy is the dev is that it?

But anyway, it has been mined since November so it's a no go for me. Good luck with the project.

I think I figured it out.
I tried the win64 last night and it didn't work out of the box. It didn't sync with the network, possibly due to my firewall, not sure. So I tried connecting directly to my buddy's node using the Debug Console with the command:

addnode "34.127.37.138" onetry

There's gotta be a way to add nodes in the config file but I'm not there yet.
Manually adding nodes feels like a real peer-to-peer cryptocurrency :-)

Send me some Potreros if you found this useful.

With that node syncs but it had been mined since November.

That does not mean it is an official one. Like you said, it is your buddy's node. which means he started to mine on his own, which makes it a fork of the blockchain.

If we mine with this node, we mine on another chain than the official one. This is not the way.
