The only thing else I wanted to point out is that if all buy orders are gone, someone can just post a false buy order so low it will never get filled, so theoretically that drop script will never trigger. I'm not sure what else to suggest except manual intervention and more popular exchanges.

True - though if they create an artificially low order, the profitability will be low as well. So, while they can do that, it will likely fail to do much good.
What I may do is add a depth requirement to an order (provided I can convince BTER to let me see that info).
