Running +20.  Let me try -20 these things are horrible loud/hot.  One of the two actually had to be down clocked to keep from overheating.  Replacing the fans on it next check.  OPEN case a good 6 inches a part with tripple 120mm fans zip tied to the top and repasted GPUs.  No wonder these were open box.

EDIT: Lol never mind your at 89%!  I saw some review somewhere the stock fan at 100% is like 75db!

Make sure you get msi afterburner and downclock your ram to 100mhz if you are GPU / BTC mining.

I can remote in via teamviewer if you need help.  just pm me.

still no gauge from the wall about power consumption Sad
so it's difficult to decide whether it's efficient

they arent that effecient. any GPU w/ decent amount of shaders laser castrated is not gonna be that effecient.

I am thinking this card at -20% voltage will use 160watts to 200 watts.  guess i'd have to get a kilo-watt to see.

All cryptos are FIAT digital currency. Do not use.
7870, should be pretty nice for gaming =)
just dont push its voltage ...

They aren't nice... They're beastly 3dmark11 16k gpu scoring HD 7930's. hehe..

We need to stop calling them 7870xt/le !

new achievement for my card, 68-69C

516MH/s -20% voltage

Powercolor 7870 Myst Edition,  its a tahiti le chip, not a regular 7870.

PS - I use the gigabyte one now, and got rid of saphire 7870s as they were faulty for overclocking purposes (check the sapphire forums for the 7870 pictairn recall) - hence one card.  Thinking about getting either more gigabyte 7870 OC when they hit $200 again, or some 7950s as they have a slightly power consumption to mhash for only a bit worse theoretical performance to dollar ratio (I'm in australia, electricity is expensive).
nb: I did make around $70 per sapphire 7870 card when I got rid of them as I got them ex demo for around $140 - bargain!  So far that has been more profitable than mining itself Smiley

I run the older Pictairn 7870 and I'm surprised and what the tahiti's perform at.
My 7870 (Gigabyte 7870 OC) runs at 1225mhz core, 300mhz cpu, total energy consumption is 216watts/hr  (although I stuck my old nvidia 250gtx so I could play games at the same time and not interfere with the ATI so now it draws 230 when mining and not gaming).  It is bouncing between 490mh/s to 550mh/s mining BTC and running at around 62 degrees C when the gtx is in (and 58 with the gtx out) at fan speed of around 65%.
I was looking at buying more tahiti's, but now I'm only shoping for more Pictairns due to this.

Well got the 2 cards installed, by themselves... one fucking word: NIGHTMARE!
Are fucking dummy plugs needed again for windows to show a fucking GUI for remote apps cuz it just fucking goes black and no mining, unless I plug a monitor in.
Powertune is fucking worthless, no matter what I set it too, cgminer just mines @ 925mhz
I used latest beta of AB....its a management nightmare.
Fuck, why dont these cards just work like the good ol 5xxx series.

Im on 13.4 cats, AB latest beta, 7 64bit.
Its horrible all around

My other mining machine, shit when tried to put my 5xxxx series all together on it...its giving me all sorts of crap now, cgminer crashing left and right, I have no idea wtf started possesing my machines, but Im PISSED!
=(

I guess the good news is, I have the 2 7870s @ 1125/300 1.13v and doin bout 503mh/s each, using right around 400watts from wall.
Who knows how long this will last tho ugh...

One of the 7870's is horrible at clocking / voltage, otherwise my volts would be as low as 1.111v or so...

delete the bin files

or you probably shouldnt have to, since you'd be using phatk on a 5xxx card and should be using poclbm or diablo on 7xxx

my 7870 is running at 1150 core 600 memory and getting 440mhash, default performance 2 voltage, which is 1.219.  it's stable up to at least 1200 core, but still doesn't come close to 500mhash.  i haven't tried past 1200.  this is using cgminer with the diablo kernel, 256 worksize, 1 vector.  messing around with intensity doesn't yield much past 8.  i'm puzzled as to how one can get 500mhash at 1125/300

anyway, it's an msi.  someone posted some review on newegg about how he had flames shooting out the back.  i guess i can believe it, 'cause this card is a pos.

Is yours a tahiti LE? ( has 1536 shaders) many 7870's are just pitcairn (I think it is), (1280) shaders...
Im kinda dissappointed in the power effeciency, but I guess its too be expected from a GPU thats got 1/4 of its shaders disabled.
Today will be interesting to see what temps it hits during daytime(80-90F) expected today. Overnight it was 50F and temps were around 55C @ 3000RPM

ah, that would be it.  yeah, it's not a tahiti LE.  it's a pitcairn, 1280 shaders.  best I can do is around 475mhash, and that's pushing it too far, really.  420mhash is realistic.  the card runs too hot as is.

not worth returning either (even if I could, heh), since I already sold the games + mailed in the rebate.  i'll probably look for another 7850 or maybe get in on one of those 7950 specials.... sure as hell don't want to use this 7870 as my 'gaming' card...  sitting next to an oven sucks

hey ninja what driver version u runnin on urs?

I've run 13.2, 13.3, 13.5 beta

you are using -8% power,  manual fan box checked, boost checked, fan @ 85-100%  choose any #,
gpu at 1175-1215mhz,  ram at 150mhz, right?

If you have 2 cards in crossfire or separately,  your box is gonna run much hotter and I doubt it will do -8%, 1175+mhz without insane cooling.

I havent set them up yet, thats why I was askin to see which drivers work best in ur experience. The ram can only be dropped that far w/ afterburner right?

I just ordered 2 7870 EZ powercolors ... hope to get 500mh out of them... from the looks of it looks like OC'n will be a bitch =(

getting 500mh/s is doable as long as you have good ventilation.

If you do a 2 card setup with the powercolor, its gonna need massive cooling to stay above 500mh/s.   They get very hot when right by each other.

I wanted to say I got Sapphire and Powercolor 7950s, I got powercolor 7870xt.

The Sapphire runs easily 10C  10-15% cooler than the powercolor.
Major difference when it comes to OC'ing and maximizing hashing.

Well, ventilation & cooling arent the problem. Seems like this clock configuration stuff is... =P

i have ram set at 150mhz, after checking it shows its actually at 1361mhz when i bitcoin mine.

So my question to you is how exactly do i lower my ram to 150mhz?  what utility?  what flags?  Suggesting an action is good, but I need to know how to lower my memory mhz more.  This card can hit 5.5ghz to 6ghz memory.

MSI Afterburner:   http://event.msi.com/vga/afterburner/download.htm

You'll need to close the program and reopen it after changing the memory clock to the lowest in order to lower it further.

I run all of my 7000 series cards at 300MHz and get little to no change in hash rate.  If you want to further increase your Mh/s, try CGMiner and the following settings:

Code:
"intensity" : "7",
"vectors" : "1",
"worksize" : "256",
"kernel" : "diablo",

yes, i remember I used to do this with some problematic 5830's..  (well, I'd switch between one and another if they werent synchronized & it'd then allow me to lower the memory lower)

but with my MSI 7850 and 7870, the lowest it'll go is 600 in afterburner.. i can quit and reload and it's still 600.  ulps is disabled, 'extend official overclocking limits' is checked, powerplay is disabled, config file is changed

[ATIADLHAL]
UnofficialOverclockingEULA   = I confirm that I am aware of unofficial overclocking limitations and fully understand that MSI will not provide me any support on it
UnofficialOverclockingMode   = 2

and i've tried trixx, barelyclocked, gputweak, ... everything but RBE basically

i know it's possible, since it comes with 2 performance levels, and the 1st performance level is 150 memory 300 core

it's all a bit puzzling

anyway, the 7850, i can run at 1100-600 and it still doesnt go above 55oC

the 7870 is problematic

How well does your card do with litecoins? The hardware comparison pages make it look better for Bitcoins.

At best, I can manage 390KH/s. I can hit 540MH/s with sha though.

That is my question as the 7950 has much higher memory bandwidth and Litecoin loves memory bandwidth.

In the future I may turn to litecoin mining, however at this moment i just mine bitcoins.

Sorry guys.

As far as MSI, PowerTune I have tried to downclock memory,  I will try out Trixx soon too.  But right now everything seems very stable.

My 7870XT is unstable at any frequency different than 1500MHz memory. I have seen others report this too. I honestly wouldn't worry about the memory clock at this temperature.

your memory clock is too high for mining BTC
OR you have to keep it that way to get the speed?
BTW any info on voltage un/locked? and power consumption from the wall?

Voltage is unlocked,

How is my memory speed too high?  If its too high, how do I lower it?   To my knowledge the memory can run 5500 to 6000mhz.

for mining BTC, you can lower your memory to insanely low
eg 150, 300 or most ppl will reduce it to 600, this will not affect mining performance, you can try

The 7930 that disguised itself as a 7870, just wish they would sell them at the same price as the cheapest normal 7870 models. You wouldn't happen to know how much the card draws at stock? I've read that they pull almost as much as a 7950 at the same freq/voltage.

took some fine tuning but these are the config settings used to achieve 516 MH/s @ 69C;   UPDATE 5/22/2013   516MH/s, -20% voltage, powercolor 7870 tahiti LE, temp is at 69C

Hardware cost break even 80-93 days.  (At $121.03 per Bitcoin - Today Rate 5/22/2013)

I'd like to note this is with the stock fan.
