Make sure you know C++ and how to mine  Cheesy

Right now I can nothing about c + + but I'm a quick learner Smiley. Have looked through Quark code and my changes for Darkcoin is not that difficult to add. But there is still a lot to do myself so if anyone wants to help just let me know.

Good luck with this, I will definitely throw some hashes at this. I like your block rewards.

It's great to hear Smiley. Hope we get the coin soon so you can get started.

are you sure that this one is correct?   ===> "Total of 100.000.000.000.000.000 DRK will be mined."

Yes, I had thought that. But I'm open to suggestions Grin.

100 Quadrillion is a lot of coins.  Let me see:  to store that in a 64-bit integer, you'll need to have 5 places of divisibility or less.  IE, DRK can be no more than 100K of its smallest subdivision, where one Bitcoin is 100M Satoshi.  So for starters you'll need to set COIN (in util.h) to 100K instead of 100M, and right under it set CENT to 1K instead of 1M.

Depending on whether other people have made this change and tested it before, you may have some bugs to hunt in parts of the code that aren't sensitive to those constants and ought to be.

But seriously, why the ever-larger numbers?  It's getting to be a cliche and it's been done so much now that it's become one of the hallmarks of a crapcoin.  Cut a factor of a million off of that and it won't change the way people use it at all.

The reward halving time is much more important than the number of coins.  If it's more than four years, the coin may be a good long-term investment.  If it's less than half a year (like QRK) the coin may be good for a big pump and dump, but it will not be interesting or valuable after the first few months.

Heh.  Maybe I ought to make a boardgame about pump and dump scams.  It could be interesting...

Thank you mentioned it on COIN and CENT. Will check it out.

The large number I got from the theory that we do not get a higher population on Earth than 10 Billion and then I Multiply it with 1000.000.

If you would like to pre-reg on a pool, I will have notnull.org up with one once I can compile the wallet. the plumbing is in place already for QRK, so this should be a simple implementation.

http://drk.notnull.org/

Please email me or PM me if you see the code become available: [email protected]

Wonderful. Then we have a pool as soon as the code is getting ready.

Well, my Photoshop skills suck, this was the 2nd version i tried (believe me you don't want to see the first).

It's better than nothing anyway Smiley. Like to use the image if it is okay?

I urge you to revise the "no virus" feature of your coin.

Okay take it off until you can scan through the code yourself.

So are you going to go at this alone with no team? or do you have some support in place?

One person has been in touch and offered assistance but other than that I'm completely self right now.

But as I said before, just let me know if you want to help.

I just want to say good luck. Hope the darkcoin is really dark (horse).

Thanks, it is really appreciated.

I was just watching http://www.darkcoin.info/Block+reward and found a typo after 6000000 block.

Thank you mentioned it, now it's fixed.

Hope you got some answers to your questions Cheesy.

Why do people say "interesting" or "I will mine it"? This coin is just a QRK clone with ridiculous numbers. I don't think the creator though one second, what these numbers mean. "Hey, 100.000.000. öhm hm let's put another three 000. wow that is fun 000.000 coins".
It is interesting indeed because of you may know already btc has some kind of problem imaginary or not with it current  value per coin and many think we should start using mbtc in order for the coin to gain additional value.

A coin with such a ridiculous amount may be a solution to make the coin easier to use and more attractive.

So it is an interesting experiment , but nothing more than an experiment nevertheless Smiley

If you launch a new altcoin and want to be taken seriously, then you should justify your design parameters. I cut and pasted this from your website, so I assume it's current:

Darkcoin is based on Quark Code.
Super secure hashing: 9 rounds of hashing from 6 hashing functions (blake, bmw, groestl, jh, keccak, skein). 3 rounds apply a random   hashing function.
    CPU mining
    Quick block generation: 40 seconds
Block 1-10.000.000 will start from 1 to 1000 coins see Block reward for more information.
1000 DRK per block (halving every 10.000.000 blocks)
Block reward will never drop below 1 DRK
Total of 100.000.000.000.000.000 DRK will be mined.
Difficulty retargets every 20 blocks (maximum 10% up or 50% down)

What trades did you perform to arrive at these specs?

This's basically a quark clone, but if you really want success do the following --

1) Extend mining time to a year to a maximum of 2 years.
2) Increase inflation to 0.7% to maybe 1% (better miner incentive).
3) Add transaction comments

And lastly (hard to implement) -- Encapsulate the Bitcoin protocol which Quark uses in TSL.

The no. of coins are good. If any crypto has to come close to the national currency (i.e. sum of all national currencies), it's number must be VERY large cause it's a HUGE economy. People don't like decimals.

Reason for 1) --

Quote
Coins with limited but long term supply by mining (like for 6 years or a above) will have inflation for a long time (till all coins have been mined). Will people wait for this much time for it's prices to stabilize? Or will they quit for their national currency? The prices will increase cause of it's popularity + lost coins, and decrease cause of mining activity; agreed these variables will stabilize it's prices for the decade while it's being mined, but there're just too many variables involved; it's like shares, there's a risk from what news comes about the cryptocurrency, and then there's the mining. If it's good news, mining will help stabilize prices, if it's bad then prices will crash faster than expected.

And why not 100 000 ...and so on?
There are already people thinking that bitcoin has stopped growing in price because it's huge value for 1 BTC.

With a few gazillions coins the coin might actually succeed since it's target would be 1$ per coin.
Interesting to watch.

Also , for the people concerned about the years... do you have a clue when will the last btc be mined?

Oh please don't change it! That would be just a wonderful experiment. It's very interesting how coin price and market cap would behave with such block reward. That's cool idea, I will surely watch your progress.

[I don't even know what that many zero's mean]

You can become a  Multibillionaire  ! Grin
Not with a descendant that halves rewards, bitcoin is able to cut into its rewards cause it is the initial genesis coin, and so will always bring miners, all the newbies will ultimately fail cause they cannot draw attention like their parent (maybe ltc), halving is BS, makes no economic sense outside  of the class room (this one), To become a Multibillionaire with cryptocurrency a person needs to know trading trends in depth, now I could be wrong, but I tempt you to put in layman's terms how bitcoin or any other coin that halves can sustain someone invested to mine the currency, does not make sense beyond a hypothetical situation.
