About

Lithium is a distributed protocol that uses Blockchain technology based on Bitcoin to create consensus among the the network. Lithium has an internal currency unit called XLT that incentivates miners to help secure the network. Lithium uses a blockchain security system called proof of stake to prevent double spending and solve the Byzantines Generals problem. It also uses the proof of work system, but only for three days with the main objective of distributing the the coins in a democratic and fair way.
