As we await resumption of premier league matches on 13th January, 2024. Here is a recap of how all the matches played out last weekend and the teams positions in the league table.

Liverpool is topping the league table by 45 points, 3 points above the second in the league table Aston Villa who has 42 points, while Manchester city and Arsenal stands in the third and fourth position with 40 points respectively. Liverpool, Aston Villa, Manchester city and Arsenal are in the top four of the league table while Luton town, Burnley and Sheffield united rocks the bottom 3 in the relegation zone.

I'm not at all surprised by Newcastle's position. This team performed brilliantly in the last season. Everyone was surprised by Newcastle's performance. And this team was able to qualify for the Champions League. This team performed very well. Newcastle should have added more talented players to the squad this season and strengthened the squad. Newcastle's owner is very rich. But he did not provide sufficient funds for the purchase of new players. Several players in the squad have faced injuries this season. And this is why the performance of the team is quite poor now. If Newcastle management had added talented players to the squad before the start of the season, we might not have seen their decline.

He was already a legend before last nights game, and many goals ago. He is one of the few people that stayed with the club for this many years, when I saw last nights eleven, I thought to myself there are like maybe 3 or 4 players who stayed the same since early days, and the rest are all new, and they are still doing amazing, that should be important because only the great ones stayed, rest left and new players joined instead.

I believe that the yare doing fine, and they should be quite happy with what they have, there isn't really anything that could change all that much. I personally believe that the best thing to do in this case would be making sure that Salah keeps this up, and it may take a few more years before he starts being not so great.

But in reality, if we consider the odds available at the moment it seems that Brighton is the team that is predicted to have a better chance. Maybe, because at least Brighton has better winning results in the head to head against West Ham, then Brighton can get slightly favored odds. Because anyway, if we consider the results they have so far this season, at least I still assume that West Ham is still a little better than Brighton.

But yes, because at this moment Wes Ham and Brighton have probably the same quality then yes, that factor will certainly make West Ham and Brighton have an equally good chance in this match. Also, in the head to head at least they also get a draw quite often and yes, it is possible that this match will end in a draw too, because they is in an equally good trend at this moment.

Usually when they appear at home then it will be better and confident in the game, for example Brighton when at home was able to win 4-2 with Tottenham and so when playing in front of their own fans have a different atmosphere.

You said right, West Ham and Brighton are almost equal in the game and the statistics are not much different, if you look at the results now especially playing at home then West Ham will be more favorite even though the odds are not much different, I can only guess where West Ham will win, but if Brighton wins I will not be surprised because they can play even crazier.

I am just surprised to see Newcastle in their current position. They started the season with a very good performance, and I never expected their performance to drop. Newcastle is currently in 9th place with 29 points. Out of the last 6 Premier League matches played, they could only win 1 match and lose 5 matches, which is really a bad one for them. I don’t really think participating in the Champions League is the reason why Newcastle dropped in performance, because since they played their last Champions League match and they lost to AC Milan, they have played 4 Premier League matches and lost 3 out of the 4 matches played. Newcastle is no longer playing the Champions League, so they should be back to form, but their performance keeps on dropping.

That's right, Manchester City have a game in hand that could possibly put Liverpool under pressure. However, no one knows how the Manchester City match will turn out, especially because in the last few matches they have found it difficult to win. Liverpool have been better than the previous season, but I believe Manchester City can still try something to be proud of at the end of the season. They were a little down in the first half due to player injuries, but I think Manchester City will return to leading the standings in the second half of the season.

This is the reason why Manchester City has dominated the Premier League in the last few seasons since Pep Guardiola coached them. Liverpool has only been able to win 1 title in the last 5 seasons, while Manchester City has collected 5 titles in 5 seasons. Arsenal fell short in the competition, despite their improving form.

Yes, I also see this match as balanced, it's just that West Ham brings quite good capital because they can pack 4 wins from the last 5 matches they played and also they will play at home. But Brighton came not to taste defeat they also want to bring at least 1 point from this match.
If seen actually the opportunities given to them are not much different and it could really happen. We'll see in this match who will be able to perform better, because if one of them plays badly then they will lose, whoever it is.
The match will be interesting if they play an open match, and I hope so. If one of them just plays it safe then it will be a monotonous match.

I agreed that either Man City or Liverpool had the best chances of winning EPL title or are title contenders this season, however Liverpool would miss the services of Mo. Salah who would leave for AFCON in Côte d'Ivoire later in the week that means he would be out for a month unfortunately Liverpool would have a big task to replace one of their best attacker throughout the duration of AFCON that would give Man City an edge because none of their players is out for any national duty, though the points difference between the top four clubs is still very close 2, 3,4 and 5 points difference with 18 matches to go is not a guarantee for any of the top contenders though those two clubs has a slight egde over others.

It will be hard for Arsenal not to concede any other defeats again as far as I am concerned. If they like, let them bounce back to the best form, they still have some defeats before the end of the season.
There are 18 matches left to round up the 2023/2024 season, and who knows whether teams(Liverpool, Aston Villa, and Manchester City) that are at their best performance will encounter their unpalatable defeats, the same way Arsenal are doing now.
None of us know what the remaining matches not played would turn out to be. Whether it will be possible to have Arsenal back at the top of the Premier League table or would it continue to be Liverpool,  Aston Villa, and Manchester City(which I doubt. Changes will occur before the end of the 2023/2024 PL table).
 

I think Brighton also have some good players. Hammers on other hand are also a tough team. I think both are on equal terms. If we take performance into consideration then obviously West Ham are performing better but make no mistake of undermining Brighton at all because they had crazy last season and are capable of big things for example the last game win against Spurs with 4-2 scoreline. Its hard to pick a winner but I expect both teams to score in this match.

Yes I quite agree with your assumption, if we look at their last few matches, in the last five matches West Ham managed to win four wins and one defeat while Brighton won two wins 2 draws and one defeat and recently we saw a surprising result from West Ham as we saw that they managed to get three points in the match against Arsenal which of course it was completely unexpected, Arsenal is one of the favored teams in the last few seasons in the EPL, honestly I don't know if it's just luck for West Ham or not, but certainly if we look at some of the previous matches they have passed they managed to beat Manchester United, Wolves, Freiburg and Tottenham, so of course I will conclude that West Ham is in prime form at the moment as you said.

On the other hand Brighton is not a team that can be said to be weak, although they are a medium team but they often appear surprising when against top teams that are overall stronger and become a threat that is quite sharp. So the point is that even though West Ham are in pretty good form if they are faced with Brighton, to be honest, personally I still have a little doubt there because as I said above that Brighton is one of the middle teams that not infrequently appear surprising.

It is good differences for Liverpool but Manchester City still have one extra match and they can win it, create more pressure on Liverpool. Anyway, taking over the first position from Arsenal and are securing it well. It is impressive come back of Liverpool after the last failed season.

I agree with you. They are strongest and have best player resources, best coaches and most experienced. Arsenal can not compare with Manchester City and Liverpool with all of those factors. They can try but if no big surprise from all three clubs, Arsenal will nearly not have chance to beat two competitors and win Premier League. From players to coach, Arsenal have less experienced people than two competitors.

I see the match as very even. Both teams have played strongly recently and are also very close to each other in the table. I have placed a bet on the game, on a draw with 2+ goals, as both teams play very offensively and therefore several goals are to be expected.

Liverpool want a difference from themselves this season and last season because we know last season they had a lot of gaps that made them thrown out of the Champions League competition which can be said to be actually a subscription for them.

Currently Klopp does not want the same incident last season to happen again this season so they try to do their best. The midfield overhaul proved to be very influential for them this season because with the presence of Szoboszlai, Mac Allister, Endo and Gravenberch it proved very helpful for their attacking line.
On the other hand, Gakpo also seems to be more confident in making movements and this is very different from the previous season. The presence of Jota and Luis Diaz, which last season was almost invisible, made the situation better for Liverpool, only in this case Liverpool's problem is still in Nunez. He still hasn't shown good performance until now, especially in the productivity of goals given so there needs to be a better push from Klopp so that he can shine because if not it is certain that he is a failed player for Liverpool.

I think in the upcoming match West Ham has a chance to get three points. Moyes' team has an excellent form, plays at home and has no serious problems with the squad. Personally, I still believe that Liverpool and Manchester City will compete for the title until the end of the season. These two teams are equally convincing in terms of performance, but Manchester City is slightly behind compared to before. Manchester City, which has a record of 3 consecutive titles, still has a chance to secure the title this season, but Liverpool will really compete with their best performance.

Saudi has been giving a lot of money to the club but howe keeps deliver nothing. Newcastle was even failed to qualify for UCL and UEL. Is there a good thing from howe right now? I don't see any.

Howe shall be sacked as soon as possible before it is too late. Im not saying he was bad, but he is not a suitable coach to handle newcastle right now. Newcastle needs a harsh hand like xabi alonso or even mourinho.
The world class coach will able to transform the club to be a better thing. It's time for howe to get out from the club. It's really annoying to see newcastle is always missing three points.

It will be a disaster for newcastle once this club will be out from the top 10. It's just matter of time until newcastle will make it happen under howe's era.

Chelsea always fail to see the potential that a player has who can help them in future. Will I say that the coach lacks the coaching skills to understand the players capacity and where to play them. This is why when these players are not in their best performance, the coach will think that nothing good can they offer to the club.

When the players are loan out, they become goal scvoring machines in other clubs who knows how manager the players and brings out the best in them. I am not surprised at this because it is not all players that will do well in a certain club because they are neglected.

Chelsea sometimes makes ridiculous decisions and I don't know how their management does things like that. If time could be turned back, of course these players would be very happy to be part of Chelsea's journey to win the title several seasons ago. But unfortunately things have changed and Mohammed Salah loves Liverpool even more and maybe he is very grateful because Chelsea threw him away before. That way he can maximize his potential before finally giving everything to Liverpool.

In my opinion, Lukaku's career is much more confusing because he is often not included in the Chelsea coach's plans and when he joins the Serie A team he always proves that he is very worthy. We know that at Inter he also made a good contribution as a striker and that also happened with Roma or even when he was with the Belgian national team, he also often put his name on the top scorer list. But when he was at Chelsea he was like a stranger and I don't know why he was like that, even though his love for the Blues was very big. I think he should return to another big team in the EPL and not put any more hope in Chelsea.
