Ratcliffe ‘wants’ Ten Hag sack at Man Utd as ex-caretaker boss tipped to return amid conflicting reports

There are conflicting reports surrounding the future of Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag, with one journalist claiming Sir Jim Ratcliffe is pushing to swing the axe and suggesting Michael Carrick might return to Old Trafford.

Earlier on Monday, ESPN reporter Rob Dawson stated that ‘Man Utd don’t really want to sack Ten Hag’ as it would be ’embarrassing’ for them after deciding to stick with the Dutchman over the summer. But there will clearly be conversations going on at Man Utd during the international break as the team has suffered frustrating results against Liverpool, Crystal Palace, FC Twente, Tottenham Hotspur and Porto recently.

According to The United Stand journalist Sam C, who has been writing on X (formerly known as Twitter), Man Utd part-owner Ratcliffe ‘wants change’ at managerial level.

The British billionaire has apparently decided ‘enough is enough’, which suggests that Ten Hag is under immediate risk of being sacked, though ‘no final decision’ has been made yet.

In a separate post, the Man Utd reporter adds that legendary former midfielder Carrick is an option to return to the club in a coaching capacity.

Let's forget about the similarities that's if you feel they (Ronaldo and Madueke) don't have any, in terms of being selfish. Remember when Pochettino was in charge of Chelsea, Madueke was always on the bench, he sometimes doesn't start, like he's not a regular starter and we find it hard to see those selfish kind of play because he (Madueke) spends most of the time sitting on the bench. He cried out loud seeking for more playing time and now he has the opportunity to play till full time in some games and what is he now doing?  Playing for himself, the selfishness has grown to that level that when he scores you can see him being proud of himself like it will get into his head, to me he deserves to be on the bench.
Is like you're not getting the message, I know his performance has been brilliant to you but not all the fans or football lovers, what I'm saying is that this guys wants to be the headline of Chelsea and that's why he need to do something people will talk about, remember when he was dragging the penalty kick with Palmer last season? I said before that he's not a team player but a player who chooses to play for himself. If you're the coach would you like to accommodate that kind of player with such attitude? I guess your answer should be no, so that's what I'm saying about this guy, to me I feel Enzo Maresca need to talk some sense into him and start him from the bench for a start and see how the game flow without him.

Yes but the way they are losing matches and drawing matches is not correct. If you look at some of their match records, they have 3 wins, 3 losses and 4 draws. If we look at Aston Villa's record, they have only drawn 2 matches And the rest won. A team's failure happens when they don't work hard and play well. If any team failed in this match they would have lost the match, with Ten Hague pinning their hopes on Manchester United but their record is very poor.  Because of which I think their position is getting worse. But , if they work hard and win a few matches, they can be a good team.

I agree with your first point, Chelsea and Aston Villa cannot compete for the title this season, but maybe they can increase the competition and become title contenders with their performance starting to improve.

Chelsea is starting to aim for more wins in each match, while they are still not stable. Chelsea's goal productivity is starting to improve although I would prefer to see them play stronger on all linea. The defense is not too bad, but if Chelsea can strengthen the defense, then the chances of losing are somewhat reduced. Being in 4th place in the standings is certainly good for Chelsea, but they are prone to slipping because of their unstable performance. Aston Villa threatens because they have the same points, but Aston Villa is also not too different from Chelsea.

Chelsea drew their last match. Aston Villa, on the other hand, have drawn their last two matches. And that's why these two teams are lagging behind. Personally I think these two teams will not be able to compete for the title. But even then, if Chelsea and Aston Villa can strengthen their defense, then maybe these two teams can compete for the title. But it is less likely.

I consider Liverpool as the favorite to win the title so far. Because Liverpool's defense is very strong this season. Liverpool conceded only 2 goals in 7 matches. Even a strong team like Manchester City conceded 8 goals in 7 matches.

You are right that while Aston Villa and Chelsea can be in the top 5 of the table, they are not as strong as Liverpool or City. The performance of both these teams is relatively erratic. So these two teams are not favorites to win the title. The battle for the title will essentially be between City, Liverpool and Arsenal.

Last season we saw Arsenal and City battle it out for the title. The two teams continued to fight for the title till the last match of the season. The season was also quite competitive. If Manchester United's performance doesn't improve in the next game, I don't think he will spend the first half of the season as coach. Dismissals may need to be taken and management must be firm, it will help the team not collapse.

The strength of Aston Villa and Chelsea is still not comparable to the strength of the current top three teams, namely Arsenal, Man City and Liverpool. And yes, the strongest candidate in the race for the title looks like it will still be the same as the previous season. But it is quite difficult to choose which team among the three teams will become champions this season. You are right. Towards the middle of the season things will start to look clearer. namely between which team is truly the favorite and which team is just lucky at the start and starts to get worse towards the middle of the season. So we really have to be patient before making a more accurate assessment until the middle of the season. And Arsenal is still one of the strongest teams defensively. but unfortunately they are not as productive as Man City in scoring goals.

And about Liverpool I think you are right. We still cannot make a more definite assessment of this team before this team actually faces other strong teams. Liverpool has faced Man Utd this season but we know that Man Utd this season is in quite poor condition. So it still cannot be considered a strong team on par with Liverpool, Arsenal or Man City. It looks like we have to wait until Liverpool gets a stronger opponent than their previous opponents.

Arteta have said that Kai Havertz just needs to be loved and he should feel he feels loved and that’s all to make him perform well in the pitch. I think he’s getting all the love from the players and team management and that has improved his performance greatly in the pitch. He is not even a second option player at Arsenal now, he needs to start every of their match if they really want to win the match. Bukayo Saka continues to be great in all games and with this consistency that Arsenal has, they can be able to win something big at the end of the season. Good start of the season and I hope they continue in this form till the end of the season.


Manchester City’s injury crisis will really affect them and for them to be on a winning streak from now is something I don’t think it’s going to happen. They been great from the start of the season and every match they’ve played since they got some major players not in the field due to injury has been a bad outing for them. They struggle in those games to win. This is the time for other major teams that are wanting to contend for the league title to take advantage and win as many matches as possible. Manchester City always surprise us in the end and I’m thinking same can still happen this season if we’re not careful.

Manchester city is still everyone’s favorite to win the league but I think the injury to both De Bruyne and Rodri seems to be affecting them and the odds for them to do a fifth in a row is actually getting thin. Against Fulham they actually were very lucky to win if not for Adama miss chances. My favourite to win aside them now is the Gunners I think a third time luck will shine on then if you ask me. Defensively Arsenal are the best team in the league and That’s what wins you the league. As for Liverpool I still have an iota of doubt as they haven’t face any challenge yet and I want to see their reaction against a big team before I judge them

Now I think both Chelsea and Aston Villa are just a little bit not up their yet and even Chelsea Enzo Maresca knows this but both teams are definitely in good form that I see them playing in the next season champions league, for now this table is just tight and no too clear predictions will be made or accurate but when we get to half of the season as in the winter we will know the pretenders and the contenders

And you think the management are happy with the results? Heck, if not for the win they got at Fulham and Southampton, what other win can they boast of? Ten Hag knows he's not doing so well and if he can minimize the way he talks so much and instead shows working, it would be much appreciated. At the moment any club that meets them have the belief that they can be beaten because by the time you break their very weak defense, it's finished and it's as if the players are just doing what they are doing so they can receive their pay at the end of the week and I won't blame them because you can't put in your hundred percent best when the coach isn't giving you the necessary encouragement needed.

I also have to say it is 100% mismanagement which brings Red Devils to such situation.

Manchester United is currently 14th on the table and they only have two wins lol . I had some idea that something like this is going to happen in this season if Ten Hag is not removed from the managerial position. I still do not understand how the authority does not realize that it was a mistake to keep Ten Hag. What is the thing that they are waiting for? To what extent does Old Trafford have to drop for them to realize Ten Hag is not the right guy at all? Does Red Devils have to get relegated? Will Ten Hag get fired after that?

I have no hope for Ten Hag right now. I am not going to be surprised if they lose the next three matches one after another. Because that’s how bad they have been playing right now.

All the teams currently in the top 5 rankings look very strong. And they are by far the most consistent of any team. And yes, there is no doubt that they will be the ones fighting for the title this season. But for me, the ones with the best chance of fighting for the title will still be the same as the previous season, namely Man City, Liverpool and Arsenal. Because in the end these 3 teams managed to become the most competitive teams until the end of last season. Man City became champions again last season. but I'm not sure about this season even though Haaland looks to be more productive at the moment. But Chelsea and Aston Villa are also fighting well and it is possible that these two teams will surprise everyone by continuing to get positive results throughout this season.

Saka has being a very important figure in the Arsenal squad, his impact in the team is above others and for any game that he doesn't play or doesn't have a better game, it is going to show as Arsenal won't play better. Arsenal played well in both half but they weren't just getting the final passes to score in the first half. It was the second half that everything began to start woking for Arsenal and Saka also got his goal. Southampton had no chance against Arsenal and they also made Arteta angry after their first goal. Arsenal scoring 3 goals in the second half was a perfect response to Southampton early goal. Saka now has more assists in the premier league.

I don't see any similarities between the two players and I think that's a bit of a stretch. Many players don't like being on the bench and they need more opportunities to prove their quality on the pitch, so the player you are referring to is also one of the players who hopes to appear regularly at Chelsea.

There are only a few players who are comfortable being in the same place even though they don't get many opportunities to appear, while others will complain and ask to move clubs. Noni Madueke has performed well so far in his 6 appearances, of course if his goal statistics are compared to last season. Noni Madueke is a player who has a great future, so I think he won't be at all comfortable not getting more opportunities.

Although Arne Slot actually only continues the team that Klopp has built. Lol this picture is really funny. Giving Ten Hag more time is just wasting the precious time of the club, is just like managing a bad situation. I saw the club management board in attendance during that Aston villa encounter, I know they won't be impressed with the performance but they should realise that Aston villa too are strong opponent, so the draw was a fair share. I feel the board is already chopping for Ten Hag's replacement, because I've been reading about speculations where Manchester United are approaching different coaches for the job, it won't be long before they will show Erik Ten Hag the exit door.
