Leeds was the best team in English Championship for two years already.
They were the team that clearly deserved to play on the first division.
It would be nice if they buy good players and see them getting a europa league position it would be a real success for them.

Yeah, Leeds will be my new 2nd team as a good friend was a huge supporter back in the day so I watched a few games with him.

The first challenge for them is staying up.

I hope they do well. They were always a team of fighters.

This is practically impossible. There are 4 teams that are automatically in the top 6 (City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Man Utd) and the contenders for other Euro places are Arsenal, Tottenham, Leicester and probably Wolves as well.
The best chance for Leeds to get to Europe would be through a cup competition but I don't give them much chance there as well.

They should build slowly and first try to become a stable PL team (placed between 10-14 spots) and aim for that Euro spots when they reach a certain level. I like Bielsa and Leeds, but there's absolutely no chance of EL position for them this season.

Liverpool's first match is vs Leeds...  Not to be underestimated imo with Bielsa at the helm.  Bielsa prolly already has spies taking note of everything about LFC's training and Klopp's strategies.  Grin

1 - 1, 0 - 0?  Double chance and under 2.5 goals combo is at 4.8  Grin  You could also just take the double chance at 3.75.

Ah, someone agrees. Leeds had a very good championship season last year and they were also made to play offs in 18-19 so yeah they are not to be underestimated. Game is gonna be real good.

Chelsea brought in a lot of new players so we will have to see how will that work out and if they will need to time to adapt.I do think that Chelsea, if things work out, has the potential to fight for the title.

Well they have really widen their squad with new players but they have to really use their players wisely and make it up to the 1st spot and finish the season. I've heard they are trying to off load some players starting with Ngolo Kante (right now interest shown by Inter).

I am also tipping Chelsea and Arsenal as the EPL title contenders too, Arsenal lately has proven to be a force to reckon with in EPL toward the end of last season their form improved and with Abumeyang signing an improved contract while boasting the team with some new signings with the likes of willian and Gabriel, Arteta had really done done a good job with the team.
Chelsea had also made some good signing however those new players adapting to premiership style of play might take some time and also those players settling down to understand each other is another obstacle to be overcome.
Liverpool aren't going to find it easy this time around defending their EPL title it going to be tough for them this season many teams EPL team must have made some tactical changes to their team in a bid to defeat Liverpool.

Arsenal, not so much, they won against Liverpool, but when it comes to full season I don't see that they can keep it at the high level that long.

Even though the COVID19 pandemic situation has not shown a decline, it has not postponed the 2020/2021 premier league season schedule.
Even some players like Pogba and Ndombele have tested positive for COVID19, according to the articles I read. Then 4 Chelsea players in
quarantine after returning from holiday in Mykonos, Greece. Rumors come from Fikayo Tomori, Christian Pulisic, Mason Mount and Tammy Abraham
positive for COVID19. Hopefully there will be no more positive COVID19 news from premier league players, so it doesn't interfere with the match
the premier league which starts in a few weeks.

I can't wait for the 2020/2021 premier league season, I want to immediately see my favorite team Arsenal play.
Moreover, Arsenal have got Willian from Chelsea, I am sure Willian will make a good contribution to Arsenal.
And I am optimistic that Arteta can make Arsenal into the big four again.

First games of new seasons are always close & a bit unpredictable, however you can’t expect anything other than a Liverpool win here. I would say 2-0 to Liverpool, they should have too much quality for a PL rookie Leeds team.

Sometimes those promoted teams play out of their skins in those opening matches and push trough on shear willpower. Do you guys remember how Norwich started last season? They were great to watch in the begging and they played beautiful attacking football.

I am expecting much from Leeds and Bielsa in this season but I agree Liverpool should win this one.

I don’t remember much about Norwich early on last season but I do remember they beat Man City at Carrow Road earlyish. The no fans thing is going to hurt a lot of the smaller clubs, no fans & no atmosphere means things like Norwich (replace them with a lower team) beating Man City isn’t going to happen often.

Right, Liverpool is much better team than v Leeds and Liverpool is the current champion in the first game against the Leeds they will try their best to win this game. I would like to predict that Liverpool will beat the Leeds 1-0 or 2-1 goal.  Smiley

Community Shield cannot provide details on how the season is going to flow.
I have seen a lot of Community Shield games where teams were playing amazingly good but in the regular season they didn't manage to play that well or contest the EPL title.
True that, but it can prove that Liverpool still isn't at their very high best in this moment of the preparations. There is still time to change that before the season starts of course. Arsenal is always a team that can play a good game but will not be able to contend for title since they will not be able to do well in large streaks of games. That is why they managed to get FA cup last season but were rather low on league table.

Are you a bit worried we don’t seem to be trying to sign anybody bro? Our starting XI is world class but we have a bit of a lack of quality on the bench. Origi & Brewster will not replace or even come close to replacing the quality of our front 3 if one of them were to pick up a bad injury.

We lack creativity in midfield too, it all comes from our fullbacks.

To be honest, I really am. The saying 'always strengthen while on top' is there for a reason and I feel we should be doing more.
Chelsea strengthened heavily both in quality and in depth, although it has to be seen if they will have to sell. Some rumors about Kante going have started, if he left they'd be in a worse position than last season if you ask me.
United is still in the race for Sancho, he'd add a dimension they don't have. I also like Van de Beek, although think he does not really fit in their midfield.
City is in for both Koulibaly and Messi and yes - we will be short in depth if we don't sign some players.

We need a CB and a quality player up front for sure, and a creative mid would be helpful too. I'm sure we'd have signed both Werner and Thiago if coronavirus outbreak did not happen but no - I am not calm while we sit and watch other clubs invest heavily. We are a title defending, record-breaking team. We need to spend something to be able to remain in the fight.

I’d rather beat Leeds in the PL than win the Community Shield. 3 points in the title race is what counts.

Agreed. Charity Shield isn't even counted as a trophy.
Most managers don't give any meaning to it, I'd always pick 3 points vs Leeds instead of it as a fan too.

I'm glad we won the Super Cup last season though, that one has some value.

I only see from the standpoint of preparation, that it is too early to say Liverpool can win again. Another team here (Arsenal) is also serious about preparing to compete as EPL champions, I think other teams are also. I don't measure whether they are Comunity Shield champions or not, but all the preparation is pretty good. Liverpol as defending champion should be more vigilant.

Meh, let Arsenal have the Community Shield, it’s a glorified friendly any way. We lost it on penalties to Man City last season & won the title so I wouldn’t mind history repeating itself.

It's the same as last season. We had a series of really bad pre-season games, I remember speaking about it with a group of friends. We were all furious, saying that the old Liverpool is returning once more - a season where we challenged until the end followed by a mediocre one. Fortunately, pre-season is never a true picture of anything - which was really evident this season. Therefore I don't really mind the performance, we'll bounce back from this and will be better.

Arsenal was more interesting for me since they are pushing some new names out there and I enjoyed seeing Saka and Nketiah on the pitch. Have tot start thinking about my Fantasy players and those 2 have very friendly prices Smiley

I doubt that Saka will play much. He was good last season but they added Willian, he will probably be first choice With Pepe when Aubameyang is playing as ST and when Lacazette will be ST then Auba will take that left wing spot. Not much room for a young player there.
Nketiah is the same and his chances are probably even worse.

this is just increasing payroll for Arsenal, since they now have two important upsets against Liverpool
- win in the league match, that prevented LFC to reach 100 points last season
- community shield trophy
will the season equalize this, or there will be more upsets by Arsenal, we will see during the season

I'm also a Gunner Wink

I'm expecting to see a three horse race between Liverpool, City and Chelsea...
- I have a feeling the latter one on my list will fail the same way Tottenham did in a two race horse that they end up getting 3rd a few year back Cheesy

If Arsenal manage to get all of their targets, I think we'll be competing for the 4th/5th spot in the league.

I know how that happened, just seen a top secret transcript of phone conversation between Lampard and Abramovich.
