Shouldn't a billionaire donate money himself instead of asking his inflation-ravaged supporters for money... million bucks sounds like pocket change for the bigly businessman.

It is also fairly disgusting how a politician (not matter of their political affiliation) could use this humanitarian problem in their own country to further boost for simpathy and votes within the population.
As Christian as he alledgedly is, he would have already know Jesus Christ taught us not to blow a Trumpet before us when we do good deeds (exactly what he is doing with this fundraising campaign.
An actual billionaire and philanthropist would have made the donation with little coverage of it, out their own pockets and then allow the people of the affected communities to contact the press of their wanted to share the story about the donation.

Ironically, if Kamala Harris did what Trump is doing (or anyone in the Democrat party) it would not take a minute before Maga started to call it out because they would be doing campaign out of a tragedy.
You just spoke my mind. Would Trump raise funds for these victims if he was not campaigning for elections? He is making all this noise and showing so much love because he wants to give the government a bad name and also get sympathy votes. According to the teachings of Jesus which Trump claims he follows, he has no reward for this public show. Politicians are magicians who can perform stunts to gain power.

That's about five cents for each victim of this hurricane.

The only thing that will truly help these people rebuild is the billions available from the US federal government. But Republicans will call that "socialism", and Musk's thing is making sure the US continues to allow him to pay virtually no taxes on his billions.

The voters of GA and NC will see this as example of how Republicans like to solve things: billionaires like Musk get billions in tax breaks, and if they are nice, they will throw a few coins at them when they are suffering.

Are Joe and Cabala even trying? And Congress? Send multi $billions to Ukraine, but don't even help out your own country.

If you wanted to give the 5 cents to each victim, it would cost many times as much to get the funds to them all. Lol.

If Trump and Musk are getting tax breaks, it's a good thing. They are now focusing where to spend their $breaks... where $they are needed. Or do you really think that they won't spend some of their own money on it?

It really is nice that Elon Musk and Donald Trump are making such an effort to help the victims devasted by this travesty.  Elon tweeting that Donald made a call asking for more Starlink terminals and he gladly provided all he could is the sort of thing we need out of politicians and wealthy businessmen.  I don't see the same type of effort coming from the other side of the aisle.  I'm sure once everything has calmed down they'll wake Joe up on the beach and cart him down for a photo opportunity.

Note that President Trump is bypassing the formal Federal Government, and he is doing it to do his job of Making America Great Again, this time by helping Hurricane Helene victims.

President Trump Launches Fundraising Campaign to Aid Americans Devastated by Hurricane Helene — Raises Over $1 Million in Less Than Two Hours

In the wake of Hurricane Helene's devastating impact, former President Donald Trump is once again stepping up to do what the current administration won't.

As the Category Four storm leaves a path of destruction over 500 miles wide across several Southeastern states, more than 100 people have reportedly lost their lives, and millions are left without power.

But while the Biden administration fumbles in its response, President Trump is taking swift action to provide relief where it's needed most.

As reported by The Gateway Pundit, Trump received a briefing on the catastrophic hurricane in Valdosta, Georgia, where he's actively coordinating efforts to aid Americans affected by the storm.

Meanwhile, Kamala Harris seems more interested in playing politics than providing actual help.

Harris, who claimed on social media to be "in constant contact with state and local officials to ensure communities have the support and resources they need," was caught in yet another embarrassing gaffe.

In a photo she posted on X, she is shown wearing earphones, supposedly on a call with FEMA and local governors. But sharp-eyed observers immediately pointed out that her earphones weren't even plugged into her phone.

It's no wonder Trump isn't waiting around for the Biden-Harris administration to take charge.

In a statement to the press on Monday morning, Trump blasted the White House's unresponsiveness, saying: "They're having a very hard time getting the President on the phone; he won't get on, and of course, the Vice President, she's out someplace campaigning, looking for money."

Trump confirmed he would be traveling to North Carolina next, one of the hardest-hit states by Hurricane Helene, to provide direct support and meet with officials. "North Carolina has really been hit hard, really, really bad, the hardest. You can't even get in there right now, and a lot of people have been injured or worse," Trump said. "The federal government is not being responsive."
