This way you could be certain you are providing the correct address when copy/pasting. So, I would say it is good for security reasons too
It's a mistake to just rely on the first few characters of an address to assume the whole address is yours. An advanced copy/paste virus would just give you a vanity address that looks the same at the first (or even last) few addresses.
A vanity address is easier to recognize, but you should still check more than just "1VLAD".
