yep, it's profitable now, 120% dif of BTC, maded 2 btcs now, just investing 0.5 btc, isn't much, but worth the try xD
Well PPcoin mining is profitable now!
So a pool or an exchange could do this for their account holders 
The requirement to keep my funds in a local wallet connected to the internet is too risky - unless there is a significant monetary reward, I don't see many people mining for proof of stake...
Maybe it's time to think about a difficulty dependent reward scheme for proof-of-stake?
regarding offline/online: The wallet doesn't have to be online all the time. Your ppcoins accumulate coinage nevertheless. In fact the wallet only needs to be online every 1-3 months, until you successfully redeemed your stake, then you can take it offline again.

Will ppcexchange.bitparking.com use our account balances to mine proof of stake, or do we need to transfer to a wallet to do this?
The exchange keeps most of its funds in an offline wallet so want currently participate towards mining proof of stake using them. I suspect the hot wallet sees too much churn (withdrawals/deposits) for proof of stake to happen. I'll be keeping on eye out on how proof of stake works in practice and I'd like to look at a way of having user balances credited with their contribution to any that happens.

PPcoin uses proof-of-stake to secure the network. The more people participate in the proof-of-stake (by running a ppcoin node with stake in their wallet), the better the network is protected against powerful individuals (large stake holders).

No you don't lose anything. But then you didn't participate in the protection of network either.
So if you're planing on holding on to your PPC, make sure you have your own instance of ppcoin running.

Looks like the dust settles a bit and the price of PPcoin consolidates. I think the project now goes into a critical phase: mining profitability is not really established and proof-of-stake mining doesn't really protect the network against a 51% attack yet, because most blocks are still proof-of-work. (ppcexplore.org). We only had 2 proof-of-stake blocks in the last 200 blocks or so. Will probably take another month until that ratio increases... What's needed is a well distributed network of proof-of-stake miners. So if you're planing on holding on to your PPC, make sure you have your own instance of ppcoin running.
Also, I know Litecoin's difficulty is expressed as 2 to the -Nth power, how would PPCoin's difficulty be expressed, or more simply, which has the easier difficulty rating LTC or PPC?

Is the PPCoin party truly over? I got rented out to provide a lot of hashrate at times during the boom, is it now substantially less profitable than just mining BTC?
For the time being it seems like pretty much everything is substantially less profitable than just mining BTC, the question is will PPCoin's profit margin trend upwards or downwards as time progresses.
It doesn't matter how much PPCoin is worth in relation to Bitcoin, what matters is if it's future value will be more than whatever it cost you to buy/mine/beg/borrow/steal the PPCoins you have... Profit is profit...
