Just to be clear. The OP and Jamesc760 and probably a few others in this thread (I did not check further) were recently scammed in the fake avalon group buy.

I don't think the proposal that you suggest would have stopped that from happening. It was blind greed that got you guys into that situation. I don't think the deletion of a few posts would have helped that.

Better idea would be to actually use your head next time.

Yay another self appointed genius.

Sorry if the truth hurts.

Lets go putting more things in place to stop the idiots from getting scammed. Why not just use some intelligence from the start.

* Oh sorry I see you were one of idiots who got scammed.

So you ARE a genius?  Maybe you can start a self moderated topic and post screen shots of your IQ results?
Also, go die in a grease fire.  This forum is aiding and abetting criminals.  Remember that when you try to log on one day and don't see what you expect you fucking genius.

Don't get mad at me because you pulled a dick move. Next time do some basic homework and you won't have to hear people telling you what a moron you were when you then go and blame the forum for not policing you from yourself.

The forum did not force you to send someone BTC. You did that all on your own. There are plenty of sticky posts telling you what you should have done. You choose to ignore them and throw caution into the wind. Stop looking for excuses.

In Collateral I Trust.
You should always err on the side of caution on any purchases made here. If you have any reservations the time to act is before you send any BTC not after. All too often you see people jumping the gun because they think the deal might not last or they want to get in line quickly.

Some forum rules won't save you from yourselves.

I had to refund an order for two "live baby unicorns" when I did the original UnicornHasher stunt.  https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/ann-unicornhasher-as-featured-on-the-cover-of-business-insider-412586

This sorta proves that forum users will literally pay for anything without research.

In a nutshell.

Stop blaming the forums for your lack of doing basic research before sending someone on the Internet your money.

Topic moved to make room for all the super awesome group buys from the likes of Avalon, Observer & minewithmind.

Please keep these trolling topics out the way of where the real money is.

Cuddling, censored, unicorn-shaped troll.
here are the most scams happening.
You should visit the custom mining hardware sub, or the securities one, maybe.  Grin

use the feedback system to warn others.
Excellent joke.  Smiley
Feedback system is just the most powerful tool ever designed for scammers, right now, and NOTHING else.

All in all, a simple feature would be sufficient.
Self-mod threads should have a red background (instead of the easily missed header today), and there should be a warning/sticky : "everything bad happening when anything red was involved, is on your responsibility."

There's a warning on selfmod topics, anyone scamming should pretty quickly get red trust if you post about it in Scam Accusations, and I can quickly recover any deleted posts if necessary. I don't see how it significantly helps scammers.

If you expect the op is a scammer then take screenshots etc otherwise self moderated topics are good for removing trolls.

Let's keep this on the front page, until they (mods, theymos, etc...) do something about it.
Well if this was posted in the correct forum (Meta) then someone would have seen it earlier.
I don't see the problem having a thread self moderated, its useful at times, for example to remove junk.
If you think someone is a scammer because they use the self moderation features then you should either avoid dealing with that user and/or use the feedback system to warn others.

Rip me off.

It's for the children!
Self moderated sale topics invite scammers which invite ad views which increase ad views which increases forum revenue.

You want the forum to take a paycut?

Seriously.
