I think that he misunderstood you, instead of understanding that the background of the website is dark and unappalling, he misunderstood and thought you meant that the site was shady as in a scam website; not safe to bet on. Try explaining yourself, I'm sure that he'll realize what you meant and credit you the bitcoins.
