E get one reasoning wey people dun make people feel say na wetin quality contributions be dat. You no need to write about Bitcoin or the forum before you go drop quality contributions especially for local boards like this one. The least constructive discussion wey you drop here go get appreciation because na we we. You no need be professional before you go drop quality contributions. Just no spam this place with repeated content or similar post then you no go get problem for here. You be newbie no mean say you go dey misbehave. No dey carry shoulder up no matter the age you be for real life. Small pikin wey get rank pass you for here Snr you so try dey take corrections from them and you too go grow one day reach higher ranks.

So far I never too see toxic attacks on newbies for here instead na embracement we dey give them and I hope it continues like that. Me I dey like newbies contents because na something new I dey expect from them but it gets disappointing when you no see any efforts from them but they beg for merits upandan. You think say na begging people carry grow reach where dem dey so. If you want rank up, put working and you go achieve am no dey dull. This forum just dey like Bitcoin, the opportunity is opened to everyone so anybody fit grow just say make you put work into your posting and no dey mumu with your writes ups them (write well people go reason your matter)

Whenever a fellow is here they should be able to understand that they are in Abroad because majority of people who is here are foreigner so we most work to the standard in other for people around here to prove how serious we are, not only by engaging in a serious discussion and post but we should work hard to think deep above our reasoning before we could be able to survive here. And somehow what I also noticed as well is that we don't look after each others because looking dip to some local board you would understand what I meant but I appreciate some few people who are free to us and are also willingly supporting the new people like us.

No be say newbies no go expect merits from there post, but wetin they be say make them get knowledge about wetin they wan post, I dey surprised how person go take create something wey no they meaningful and expect merits for that post, so I want make you understand everybody wey you they see for here we learn many things before we reach here and we posted better threads na from there we they get merits and reach here.
So wetin the OP mean be say make they know wetin them they post no be everything them go carry come forum and post make they make sure wetin they wan post go help the forum members in terms of knowledge or news that is from original source.

Actually, no one is an island. None of us made it to the top without the help of others to shape their reasoning and direct their steps in the forum. Don't think that the older men wey d for the forum make their way to the top without starting as a newbie before they get to the level of exposure wey d get for the forum and crypto generally.

In this life wey you see so. There is always a learning phase for everything wey peso get into before em go master am. That learning stage na newbie. Na base on your performance, patience and zeal go determine where you go fall to, whether to keep being a newbie or not. The choice d for the person hand

Having said that sha, am beginning to the like the kind engage post wey the newbies d bring come this forum. Making una keep am up.

There’s a need for reorientation of newbies here in the local board, some sticky post at the top of the board will go a long way to help, just like we have in the general forum board “Beginners & Help”. New members do join the board often than before because I see new names timely in the local board. The use of search button and also reading throughout the content of a post before commenting becomes a thing of laziness and that’s why we see more users spamming a thread or even making off topic replies. This can be reduced and corrected if they’re reoriented from time to time or make the general rule of the board a sticky thread at the top of the local board.

No doubt, ever since we got our local board in December 2022, we have had a lot of newbie engagement now than ever before in the history of this forum, which is a welcome development. But one thing you need to understand about this forum is that quality posts/engagements don't hide on the forum, and as such I always advise "Newbies" that their first 3 months on the forum shouldn't be a period you hunt for merit, but rather a period you set aside to learn to master & understand the forum to the fullest, even when I know no knowledge is ever enough.

This is the main reason why some threads and posts have been made only just to fulfil one requirement or the other without adding any meaningful contribution to the discussion, and that has become the major challenge facing the forum,  and if you said the newbies need reorientation then that is correct since there has been a lot of misplaced priority and deviation from the reality,  instead of studying and understanding what is acceptable here in the forum,  their busy chasing shadow and ditching out low-quality posts and in the name of contribution.

And that is what I am saying, the thoughts of the so called Older members are right about you content. And the newbies will my deny it as well as you. This is a good thread which I have given merits but I am out it. And also as far as I know in this local board, it is very hard for us to see a newbie creating a quality thread, they are just few and those few that have created quality threads, we gave them merits for hard work. Maybe we are in some ways left back beyond the normal conducts expected and those coming in new to forum needs to be reoreinted in many way, how many of them take time in reading through the forum's rules and regulations or partook in the use of the search button before creating a thread to know of they had been already discussed, have they also been aware of how a quality post is required to be and why some post ended being deleted or landed at off topic

Normally, if you go somewhere new and you no take time observe the environment and the way them dey do things. If you go rush do things,e mean say u must fuck up because you no get the idea on how to make things work out for you there. Those newbies need to understand say na school them come. You never do your school registration finish,you come say na project you won do. How now,you go fuck up. Wetin I mean be say one step before another,first read and learn. Contribute for boards or topics were you get idea on and forget of creating topic first. When I start na so I dey do,I feel say na topic dey give more merits pass and na so,I just dey create. But now I don come understand say some comments dey even get 2 or more merits,where topic wey you take time create fit no even get one merit. So life na small small no hurry. Knowledge na power and na wetin the forum believe in.

Na true u talk ooo, e be like say some newbies dey come dis local board just because dey wan get one or two merits and dey wan dey use am get activities, normal normal we know say we suppose dey assist each other when it comes to merit and other aspects, but make we all dey try make meaningful posts also now, if you see some threads wey newbies go create for dis local board, I go just shake head, I know say na Wetin we go chop all of us dey look for but make we dey try put effort to, no good thing comes easily, Abeg make we no turn our local board to rubbish place. Boss, I’m sorry to say, but I doubt if you actually read meaning to my post. This is a breakdown; “…the idea that SOME older members have of the newbies is that we just want to gather merits quickly (meaning the general idea SOME older members have is that all newbies are just solely bent on the merits) which is MOST likely true with the kind and quality of posts and engagements the newbies make on the forum (meaning it’s almost true but not completely true of all newbies)”.
And if you feel the purpose of my post is to beg for merit, then that’s your personal opinion sir and it is welcomed.

We all here expect merits but how can the merits come when the quality of engagement is poor? My post is simply encouraging other newbies to work on their quality of engagement and watch how the merits will flow naturally, and also to charge the older members not to completely write off the newbies.

See nah normal thing to wish to get merit cos nah wetin many of us newbies dy take make our account survive for this hustle. Wetin concern me nah. Honestly I must say that I am very impressed and proud about the topics we are seeing here on the board so it's really shows that we have been able to grow. This is not to say that the board has been completely rid off those spam post, but the number has been cut down tremendously.

I am really proud of the Nigerian representative here in the forum, we have been carrying ourselves in a very transparent and honorable manner. Remember when Nigerians use to be involved in issues especially that of plagiarism but right now all that has been reduced or even ended.

Ogami you dey complicate yourself. You said the thought of the older members about the newbies is a sad idea and this the same sad idea became true again den dat means thought of the older members are perfect. And if dat is your ambition in di forum den all is for you. If I even understand u well, at the last part of your thread is a paraphrasing of merit begging. And that is bad as well. I don't what brought you here but most of us are here to know more about bitcoin and altcoins so we can teach others to expand the Cryptocurrencies world.
Merits which you are saying will come through your knowledge on the base topic. So you have to develop yourself on Crypto related activities.

Noted bro, I believe senior members and newbies will take something meaningful from dis your message because we need to grow higher in dis forum so that other local board will come and take advise from us. Well, some senior men here are trying their best to help newbies improve in quality Post, meaningful topic and comments which some has learned a lot to improve higher but some feel they are hurting dem from the forum by telling dem the right thing to do. But there are some senior members too, they don't want to use stuff mind to correct newbies to learn than to use some hot words that will make the person to give up or afraid to ask questions or make contribution in the forum. I believe we are almost there to become the best local board in the Bitcointalk.org because, I have go round many local board, I came to discovered that Nigeria local board is among the best.

One way we can promote meaningful engagement in our local board is to pay attention to our local news, read and research on topics or phrases that are ambiguous.
An empty head/brain may find it hard to create any engaging post, because it is garbage in garbage out.

Newbies should do more reading on this forum. Look out for hot topics both internationally and locally that have an economic story, mostly when it concerns anything cryptocurrency or BTC, because that's what this forum is first of all about.
Also, keeping a consistent style of writing and work presentation can really make a difference when it comes to meaningful engagement.

Thank you for the suggestion. Although, I consider myself as a new member and I believe that I still have many things to learn. At some point in this forum we all took our own baby steps, and we make some mistakes along the way and some of the corrections we got came as criticism, and regardless we got the message. As my our bigman Wiwo said, it doesn't really matter whether you started a topic or commented on someone else's topic, as long as you're making meaningful contribution on the local board or on the forum the merit will flow. Also, I know that our five star generals and other established members have been really kind in dishing out advice to newbies and meriting quality posts.
