@All
Theymos appointed Flying Hellfish based upon it's reporting stats, same can be done in B&H.

Though, we're not getting any response from the admin, I think he's thinking that Global Mods are now just fine to moderate that board and nothing to be worried about even though it doesn't have any specific mod for it.

Truth has been told that this isn't his priority as we can see that he is not even responding. So many thanks, that hilariousandco did respond...

It'd be refreshing to see at least two mods, preferably to cover different timezones.

I don't mind those suggested above to be elected, they've set good examples for the rest of us here.

I am alive but in hibernation.
I haven't visited B&H in quite some time and have it on ignore, but I think moderating that section would be one hell of a job.  That's probably why the mod hasn't been active since last year (lol).

Even with no moderator, B&H is not in a bad shape at all.
I think you should not ignore this board, just give a chance and I can bet you will really find interesting and good topics there.

I don't think he wants another board on top of being Global Mod.

I expect Jet Cash to set very high standards, I would love to see that happen, but don't think it's realistic for Beginners.
I agree with you, I think Jet Cash is always trying to help someone and try to create a strong member in this forum.
Ex:
Where's Miss Lauda?
B'cause in that board, I just saw pinned thread is created by Lauda and theymos.

But I will choose LoyceV as the moderator of the board.
He always gives new good things for contribution to the forum.

Another person LoyceV is a good person for help the forum management, she many works for this forum(and still running moderate something, and smoothy work merit system).

I think 2 person always works perfectly for this forum(Although there are many more) Clean and safe, But theymos will decide what he will do, We can only share our opinion.

Whoever will be chosen as new moderator for Beginners & Help board, that guy should be the one who has highest or in top of highest reporting-points in the board.
Such a point reflects that he/ she tend to regularly visit the board, and has dedication to clean up the board by reporting shitty posts.
Next, the moderator there should have acceptable postcount in the board. Of course, moderator should have constructive posts (no doubt about that).

All candidates are the best users in the forum, but I wonder that they have been actively and constructive enough in the Beginners & Help board.
Maybe, after selected and become official moderator there, the chooser will become more active there.

I don't think jetty would be up for that (I dunno though). As has been said, it's best to go off good reports too. Also, if jet does get it, he'll still have the people theorising he's trying to take over the forum (or whatever they were on about last time)...

No God or Kings, only BITCOIN.
Let theymos decide for it and I guess if he assigns a mod for B&H almost all users will respect it.

Though there are few global moderators, their task and time will still be split if they will be added more workloads. Let there be an active mods for every board.

The important thing about this list of names is how many of them actually report in that board? We like to spit out popular names but if we take a look at the reporter statistics I bet not many of these have reported a single thread in that board. Take a look at the reporters statistic thread in Meta and you will be surprised by the names that come up. There is a newbie with hundreds of reports. Popularity on Bitcointalk does not mean that the member would be good for moderation work. Unless reports for that board becomes public knowledge then only theymos knows who reports there and fits the correct time zones etc.

DdmrDdmr is quite active too in the B & H board. At least every single day, you can see he's presence there through meriting and commenting on posts.
Picking one person from the three would be quite challenging but all three are suitable candidates according to me.

I don't think theymos encourage enough to assign new moderators. Although there is multiple thread and discussion but we hadn't got any answer from admin. Also I was made a poll regarding moderators selection. However if admin don't like users opinions then he should choose by himself. But at least need few more moderators in my opinions. So many board have no moderators and few are inactive from long time. Although global moderators are handling them but it would be more effective if there is dedicated moderators.

By the way, I think LoyceV deserve moderator position in my opinions.

Thanks for the endorsements Smiley However, Mods are often picked from users who make a lot of valid reports on the board, and I haven't reported much on Beginners & Help. I tend to avoid it because of the current low quality.
I wouldn't mind doing my share in changing that though.

I'd love to have my own Nuke button Cheesy

No, please no!
Once we let the AI run free with a nuke in his hand (slot) we will have no beginners, no help and no board!!!

Joking aside, once we get a new mod for that board can we get another for BD also or at least get a new mod for both boards?
Every day those who get infected with topics that have nothing to do with Bitcoin at all.

Beginners & Help - All primitive questions (to pros like us Cool) like "what are ASICS", "who is satoshi" and "what is mining" should stay here

This is the only description I can find taken from Mprep's Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines, FAQ

Well, right now it fits the description perfectly because if you dare enter the mining section and open a topic or simply post a primitive response it's going to last 15 minutes at most  Grin

Thanks for the vote of confidence, but you really don't want me as a mod.
Jet Cash, nobody here is perfect or would make a perfect moderator.  The truth as I see it is that you'd likely do a good job, because your interest in the forum's well-being has been demonstrated many times, and you certainly know the difference between a good post and a shitpost--and that's probably one of the most important things.  Then again, I don't know what the job description entails.  However, I'm fully confident that you're intelligent and motivated enough to do whatever it is that would be required of you and that you'd take the job seriously.

The Pharmacist

Nope, leave me out of this.  Why would I want to be a moderator of a section that I never visit?  Plus I wouldn't want to spoil the fun of being a member by working as a mod.  Once you take that job, you basically become the face of the section you're moderating and a representative of the forum itself.  Thus, I would have to exercise a level of restraint that I'm not comfortable with and Theymos would probably take that nuke button away from me within a week.  You'd have to lock me in a basement to keep me from overusing it.

I would say a good step for that board - before appointing a new MOD - would be to define it's purpose.

I like going through there from time to time, it's a decent place to lend a hand. Often you can find users who genuinely want to learn or need help and found the beginners board. Unfortunately it's such a smorgasbord of ideas and clashing motives behind each topic.

Looking at pinned topics it was great place to start, ask a basic questions, learn how to use the forum, then move onto the different boards to further develop. I wasn't around when/if it was ever a clear starting point to getting involved in the cryptosphere, but I feel like it needs to go back to the basics. It would be great if this board was used to help people understand where to post or the best place for a question if it is above and beyond the basics. We can also then provide the basic getting involved information, and have discussions around safe practices, how to use BTC, explain the difference between BTC and Altcoins; without having to compete against general spam, bounty/airdrop spam, and other noise getting in the way of the intended signal.

With at least a decent idea of what we want this boards purpose to be to meet the current needs of a B&H section, we can then look at reporting and moderating it.

the first person who comes to mind for the job is Jet Cash.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, but you really don't want me as a mod. Apart from the fact that I still have a bunch of members on ignore ( I really must go through that list soon ), I'm quite erratic, and I have some positive views that conflict with those of several members. For example, I would move all the bounty stuff off the board.

I'm also quite keen to set up an experiment with the new forum software, so I doubt if I would have the time to be effective.

We have nearly the same problem in the German board !
But there is no Mod at the moment and i guess it depends on how much Spam and reports are done there .
At the moment in the german board reports get processed by a Global Mod .
In my opinion, the beginner board should have a moderator as it is the first port of call for many new users!
So Global Mods havnt to deal with that there as long there are no Ban reports , and they have time for the important things in the Forum !

Very active in different sections of the forum ; Jet Cash is nice suggestion: really helpful.  Should be considered and appointed provided he is interested.

If the board wants a dedicated moderator we need the Report Statistics from theymos first. That would help us to narrow down the member for the position. Jet Cash seems to be very active in that board, but is he really interested in the position and does he report the posts quite often matters first. I don't visit the board very often, but it does seem to be better for the discussions to take place and doesn't sound like a frog pond for spams in my opinion.

I didn't see hilariousandco for a while on the discussion,so this is right time to allocate a separate mod on that section.
Posting is different from moderating and being active. Many people seems to be missing that point! You don't need to post as much but reporting should be done for a person to get considered for that board!

Another member that comes to the mind is LoyceV, but @LoyceV do you report much in that section? If they aren't interested in reporting spams in that section, they wouldn't do good as a moderator there probably!

btw, The last mods were chosen by activities, reports in the section that needed moderation.
I am confused at this for long time!

What if a member reports hundreds and thousands of posts in just one section, but has never posted in that section? Will he be considered as a MOD?
