I'm trying to find if there is a direct relation between the price of a coin and the activity it had on the web, regardless of the results I just want to get done with this project so won't be very picky on large amount of data that'll make things harder to process for now.

there isn't it's all based on supply and demand, and the hype of the moment for that particular coin, if a coin have a great attraction it will be pumped otherwise not, i see that it's also based on the profit miners can have with that coin but not always

How would you major the hype of the moment for that coin? one of the stuff I've though of is the activity around it on the web.

that is hard, i see soem times the attraction/hype is random other time it was instigated by something like by news about that coin, like it will go to that big exchange or will have that very nice features etcc...advertisement also work but not always, ther were some good coins with advertisement and good features but they were never pumped like other trash coins

I get into one scam coin that i still remember, they goes with name TODAY (image coin) Here is their ANN thread https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/ann-today-image-coin-today-earn-today-coin-free-100-free-1569405
Exchange where they are listed https://yobit.net/en/trade/TODAY/BTC

Also i have invested few in Cryptojackscoin (CJ) and make nice profit almost 10x during their ICO but after that huge pump, they got dumped hard  and i don't have any idea about what is going on but it looks like dev have disappeared for more than a month now their ANN thread https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/ann-cj-xbr-cryptojackscoin-x13-powpos-xbr-swap-completed-1659790

Thanks for the links, TODAY coin seems really nice example of what I'm looking for, a real pump and dump coin.

Do you happen to have more coins like that with charts?

Feathercoin and Quark are good to look into as far as old timers are concerned. Pascalcoin was the most major recent pumpNdump. Check out Steem as well. TrumpCoin and ChessCoin might be worth a look, too. You can find plenty of examples of PumpNDumps on yobit. There is(was?) even a coin called ponzi or trollcoin or something that paid its users to pump coins by using keywords in yobit chat.

Feathercoin is pretty old, I remember reading the name before, is it still alive using pump and dump?? or some dev keeping it??
I'll be watching yobit for a bit to see more coins and hopefully find a way to extract data form it.

Anyone wants to contribute more coins names and info??

Never really been involved with Feathercoin but I believe it's still alive and kicking. It gets pumped about once a year or so. Also, someone listed some more coins in response to my list. Can't attest for all of them but Paycoin is really good to look into, can't believe I forgot about that shitcoin.

I dont know much about Pump and Dump coin but you can have a look on this coin which has good features and project and the coin is fresh if you work little then your group can do some pump and dump in this coin. The coin name is ICOBID the link is

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/icobid-platform-icobidcoin-and-icobid-token-airdrop-live-1605034

if you go through the coin market cap is less so you can manipulate it very easily.

p.s. FTC (Feather) is one of the biggest pump and dump shitcoins of all times that hasn't yet stopped pumping and it has at least one major pump each year for no reason.

while i can't deny it gets a big pump (n dump) from time to time, i wouldn't class it as a shitcoin, ftc has a decent community following and proper continual development since its beginning.

(though i am not a big fan of pumps even i have to admit they are most entertaining  Wink )

I'm looking for old data (and new ones) on Pump and Dump coins (regardless if they've gone beyond the wind or still exist) to use for a university project, no idea where to look for them though as I don't have enough experience with alt coins.
check out http://coinmarketcap.com/ it has all the "alive" coin. for dead ones i am afraid you have to dig through the announcement topics.

The data I'm looking for is anything related to that coin, but main stuff are:
1-exchange websites that had this coin (with add/remove dates and you'll be awesome)
the same http://coinmarketcap.com/ click on any coin that you like and go to the markets tab and see all the exchanges that have that coin currently.
again if an exchange delisted that coin you can only find it in the history of the ANN topic.
example http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/ethereum/#markets

Quote
2-price charts (prefer raw data that will allow me to draw the chart as it suits my application)
go to Poloniex (it is an altcoin exchange) then visit their API page (don't have to sign up or anything) look up their chart API call (i think is called) it gives you the history you can set it to 1440 and get the daily OHLC points.

e.g. https://poloniex.com/public?command=returnChartData¤cyPair=BTC_ETH&start=0&end=9999999999&period=1440

Quote
3-bitcointalk threads/posts related to this coin
usually coinmarketcap has the link to the ANN topic but they are all here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=159.0

Quote
4-other forums that coin was popular (or at least got some attention) on
some coins like litecoin, ethereum, Reddcoin and lot of others have their own forum that is specific to the coin.

Quote
5-anything else that can be useful
can't think of anything but make sure to share the results with us when you finished your project if it was possible.

Quote
It'll be awesome if you guys can pass me some data or help me find them (maybe name few old coins to look for?).
Thanks in advance.
check out Ethereum for the biggest pump coin of this year.
you can see the most recent pumps in ETH, Dash, ZCash.

p.s. FTC (Feather) is one of the biggest pump and dump shitcoins of all times that hasn't yet stopped pumping and it has at least one major pump each year for no reason.

I think coinmarketcap.com will help you with that data, just open the link to each coin and look at the chart. I don't know the sample size you are looking for but I think there are more than 600 tokens listed on coinmarketcap.com

Why would you go with such coin name, it should already tell you that the name itself is not even serious.
