It is a great sign that steam is accepting BTC for payment. I like how simple bitcoin is to use, especially with a ledger HW wallet, secure and quick to use.
I do sometimes buy steam games.
yeah cool and good news for the gamers that finding steam wallet codes using bitcoins, and they will not be banned because of steam wallet codes that buyed in hacked credit card.

if i ever have time again to play games, maybe i would try to buy some on steam. i'm too busy that i don't dare going there now, so easy to purchase a game that i'm afraid i can't refuse to buy something i don't have time to play.

What's the price conversion like on Steam? Do they charge you more for the supposed privelidge of paying in bitcoin?

I never used it but I already heard that its easy to do it with steam right now, the only downside is some games are too expensive and are here on the forum cheaper.
Due to this fact I still not used them, although its good for the publicity of the bitcoin.

Yes as mentioned in my previous post, there is online stores like Key4Co.in and G2A which accept Bitcoin and offer cheaper Steam games. However, we Bitcoiners should still use Bitcoin to purchase something on Steam from time to time (even if it is a 99 cents game). This will show Steam that there is still Bitcoin transactions going on. And hence they will not disable Bitcoin transaction feature. I am going to purchase some cheap indie game on Steam with Bitcoin sometime next week or the week after to show my support - even though the game might be cheaper on G2A.

Agreed  Wink  If we want people to use and accept bitcoin we bitcoiners need to spend it at them stores to show support.

This thread would have been much better, if you added things like this :

~ I bought Hitman {The Title} with Bitcoin on Steam {with a photo as proof}
~ Then you could add some interesting comparisons eg. I would have paid say $10 fees with my CC, but I paid only $0.01 as miners fee.
~ The payment took eg. 5 minutes to complete
~ I used BitPay / Coinbase or whatever other service they accept. {I think at this stage, it is only Bitpay?}

That would have been a much better thread to start off with.  Huh Can you please give us a more detailed explanation of your experience? Thanks OP for sharing, now we know it's working.

No i cant be arsed, to busy playing my new game..... but feel free to give us all a run down on every aspect of your use of bitcoin, but dont expect me to read it, i can guess it will already bore me...... lol  Grin

Yes, it's cool! Quickly and without any problems. In addition, it can be used by minors who do not have cards. As well as attract more users in emerging markets like - India, China and Brazil
In China, bitcoin is quite famous but in India, people are not even aware of bitcoins. You will find very few people who have heard of bitcoin and bitcoin users are even lesser in number. Internet has not reached many of the places in India. It would be very difficult to attract users in India.

IMO it's too late for Steam to start accepting bitcoin. G2A has already established a reputation for a trustable alternative Steam market that's cheaper than the real thing, and accepts a wider range of payment options.

Just bought my 1st game from steam using bitcoin, what a great way to pay.  seamless and fast, far faster than using my card and more secure.  well done Steam for accepting it.  Grin
Congratulation man, you miss one point. I think you have also payed very little fee compared to payment via card. I have paid 10% fee today in withdraw from my visa card.  Angry

We need independent bitcoin atm card not related to visa nor to mastercard.
it would be impossible since bitcoin is decentralized not like a fiat which is centralized and have a bank,and bitcoin is not getting legalized yet in so many countries
But a card could work at a Bitcoin ATM couldn't it?  It would basically just be your wallet which you scan into an exchange/atm, which can spit out fiat.
I could also work through Bitpay I guess.

I think it all misses the point of Bitcoin a little though.  Why can't a shop just have a 2d barcode for me to scan and pay directly?  Why do I need a card?  Why do they need a bank account?

The combination between Bitcoin and Steam is working in a great way and is paying off. The fact that paying with Bitcoins is faster and easier can be the factor of attracting more people to both Bitcoin and Steam.

So finally it was implemented ? Last time I heard something about that, it was when womeone said that in reading the beta code he found a mention to Bitcoin. Nice for you and for all the community !

I think the article dated from a few weeks ago. So they sure took their time. However it's good to see some big company is accepting bitcoin as a payment option. If google and amazon would do the same, I wonder what the market cap would be like.

How about you share some relevant information about this? Stating that you've just bought a game does not really help as it provides no information to the people reading the thread.

I would not trust those sites, like the other poster said, they may be stolen.. otherwise where is the business for them?
They are as legit as the "shared" accounts and cheap gift cards that are being sold on this forum. Roll Eyes

Smooth seamless with Bitpay?
I don't see why it would be any different as with the payments at other services that are involved with Bitpay.

Are you paying any premium or charged certain % more than regular payment methods?
I would not see the point of adding a premium to the prices, else there would be little reason to use Bitcoin.

Well, they have some sort of security system, the so called "g2a shield" or something like that, that supposedly guarantees that it will work. Of course, I refuse to believe that something shady isn't going on when people is able to find keys for a triple A brand new tittle like the new Doom game, for half the price that it is on Steam...
