The word purpose makes the phrase 'purpose of life' simple to define. However, it is subjective to an individual as to how you want to live your life or the plans you have for the future. Some people have related it to their self-esteem or self-actualization. Others relate it to their goals and aspirations. So most of human action are based on their purpose in life.
The purpose of life is manifested by taking a journey, not by establishing a pleasant or interesting explanation or a definition for oneself.
To find and spread peace in this world
Purpose I think is to maximise your own happiness. The dilemma is balancing short term versus long term happiness. That may sound a tad selfish but it isn't as you cant be truly happy if you make the people around you unhappy.
